Get them. They will make turning and forward movement so much more responsive. And as e150 said, they turn an average track into a good track (and a good track into a great one)... plus, they make turning to the dark side that much more difficult... lol Remi Muff 914

Pack, there is no argument: any accident (skydiving or other) is an awfull thing. No argument agout this either: the mainstream media does an awsomly crap job at covering skydiving and accident in particular. But as a jumper, I want to learn as much as possible about any and all incidents and fatalities. I agree, a BBC or mainstream media article wont give us any valuable insight on what happened, but it is a starting point. Hopefully, witnesses will post details on here and we will all learn from this sad event. Remi Muff 914

Having never jumped one, I'll still go out on a limb: if its turbulent enough, it will collapse (like every other canopy) Remi Muff 914

is it a Vector II or III ? Big diference... I would not pay 3.3 for a Vector II based rig(still a nice rig - heck, I had one! -, but its getting to be an old design). Easy way to find out: the V 2 has velcro riser covers, the V3 has tuck flaps. Remi Muff 914

I'm not sure about the US, but is there a coach rating per say within USPA? (Warning: the annoying Cannuck is gonna start again with "back in Canada") Back in Canada, if you had your Coach 2 Rating, you'd have a pretty rock solid argument to say f**k off to that prick wannabe schoolmaster! You'd be sanctioned by the sport's governing body to jumps with low timers, and how (or if) you get paid is your call and your call only... Remi Muff 914

Boy.... arent there a lot of sensitive p[eople out there! Then again, I think the original post was a bit...mmmmm... "aggressive" one could say? I guess I have to agree in general terms... I've been to a couple of boogies where some of the participant of our groups could not pack themselves (not "they rather have a packer" or"couldnt be bothered with the hot sweaty job", they just couldnt pack at all...) Please learn! It was frustrating for them and us when they couldnt do 2 quick loads back to back cuz their packer was too busy, and we either had to wait for them, or have a smaller formation! if you're opening the link using Internet Explorer, right click on the file you want, there should be a "copy to folder" command. you can also use a FTP client, but if you say you're puter litterate, never mind... After having checked with the appropriate copyright holder of course.... Remi Muff 914

Got a question for you physics/maths whizzes....??
RemiAndKaren replied to pyke's topic in The Bonfire
Yep, the speed of impact will only be the speed of one body measure from the other. But the force of impact will have to do with more then just the relative speed: how much energy was involved (if a whole jumper is going at speed X, then his kinetic energy is 1/ 2 mass * speed ^2, mass of the jumper not just his feet), then angle of impact, how much energy is delivered in the impact..... Heck, on exit, you can get a broken nose from another jumper and ther're no real speed yet! Remi Muff 914 -
http://www.skynews.co.uk/skynews/storytemplate/storytoppic/0,,30000-1035003,00.html A plane has crashed in New York. It is now understood the plane was an Airbus A300 which suffered engine failure shortly after taking off from JFK airport. Early reports said the aircraft was a Boeing 767 - the same type which crashed into the World Trade Centre. The jet came down in Queens, in the south of the city. There are reports the it hit a number of buildings near Rockaway beach. All airports in New York have now been closed as a precautionary measure. A huge plume of smoke is rising above the New York skyline as the wreckage burns. The Dow Jones dropped 200 points as news of the crash reached the markets. Remi Muff 914

http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/11/12/newyork.crash/index.html Plane crashes in Queens NEW YORK (CNN) -- Queens police confirm an aircraft crashed Monday in the Far Rockaways neighborhood of the New York City borough. The spokesman could not confirm the type of plane but said it crashed in the Rockaways at 122nd Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard. WCBS-TV reported that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said it was an American Airlines 767 presumably on approach to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. The station showed pictures of a huge plume of smoke. Remi Muff 914

If yopu have a regular Z-1, shouldnt be a problem at all to fit any audible in the inside pocket (old dytter, pro dytter, pro track, FX, time out, evolution.. get the drift?) BUT if you bought one of those Z1s with the custom made FX "cavity" with external access to the controls, only a FX will fit in that hole (there still should be another internal pocket on the other side of the helmet for another kind of audible). From http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/uk/england/newsid_1646000/1646079.stm "A British skydiver has died in Florida when his parachute failed to open. Craig Chesworth, 23, who is believed to be from London, died at the resort of Sebastian when he missed the landing area and crashed into a nearby house. A spokeswoman for the Skydive Sebastian centre, in south east Florida, said Mr Chesworth's parachute did not open fully until he was too low. The experienced parachutist was on holiday. The centre spokeswoman said: "He missed the drop zone and hit someone's roof." She said he had been in Florida for some time and shared a flat with a worker at the centre adding "he was a beautiful, awesome person." The Holmes Regional Medical Centre, where Mr Chesworth was treated, said he died at 0820 local time on Thursday and his family had been informed. Mr Chesworth had made 165 previous jumps. If you're keen on exactness, get a protrack... if you're happy with approximations, pick a number! I use 65 sec for 12,500 to 2,500 and add 5 sec for each 1K (RW)... close enough for government work... Remi Muff 914
