  1. Hi Marc, I'll whole-heartedly agree with Geoff on the watching the canopy issue.... its much more important to watch around you and get ready for evasive maneouvers if you get a 90 deg off heading in the direction of another jumper wioth a 90 deg off heading in your direction.... As far as rolling noses... I tried to do that on my sabre 210 but that method gave me my most unrully openings. Since then, I've never done it again. The more I think about it, the less I like the idea.. heres why... When you pack a ZP, there will be air in the cells; this air sill has to be forced out when you lay on top of the canopy... if the nose is rolled, it will probably end up unrolling all or part of it, and its the "part" that wories me as nothing will create off-headings as much as pack jobs that are not symetrical. Which brings me to the next point: what else can create off headings. Make sure you lines are well stowed, even on both sides, and that you leave plenty of line between the last stow and the risers. And if all you get are 90 degrees... it aint that bad Remi Muff 914
  2. Sory Mike..... thats about 1,750 EURO.. and thats at the official rate, the banks rates will be higher..... Remi Muff 914
  3. latex, getting it where the sun dont shine AND LIKING IT.. this thread is really heating up! lol I think lots of specialized tech equipment companies will have strange policies, or probably no policies at all and it will usually take some customer prodding (here we go again) to get things worked.... Remi who used to work for a smallish specialized tech equipment company before it got bough out by a monster multinational who again this week anouced another 20,000 jobs cutback.... that'll be a total of 50K jobs this year! yaaaahooooo.... could be worse, could work for SwissAir or Sabena! Remi Muff 914
  4. All right Ben... BEER Karen and I actually were talking about going to FLA for a week around Xmas.... considering the trans-atlantic flights are flying almost empty, there may be good deals to be had! And its been a couple of years since we jumped over there.... We used to go the Lake Wales, but even the Xmas boogie 2 years ago was sloooooooowwwww.. and friends who went last year said it was very slow too... Phree: have you been lately, is it back up to its normal busy self? I hope so, really nice facilities.... otherwise, we'll have to go where all those Brits go.... Sebastian! lol Remi Muff 914
  5. My tip for jumpsuits: always try to go through a dealer... why: if it dont fit, the manufacturer cant blame you for taking measurements incorectly.... There should be a few Tony suit dealers in Ontario... been 2 years since I lived there, but the major DZs should have dealers around... There are a couple of canadian manufacturers around.. with the US $ still being high, it may be a good alternative, especially if its your 1st suit (wheather RW or FF)... ask around at your DZ.... As far as matrial: how fast or slow are you? it boils down to that, again wheather RW or FF... if you are fast, get the heavy stuff..., if you dont know: find out with your coaches! Remi Muff 914
  6. This would be pure flame bait.. if the girls here didnt know you talked pure shit Clay ! lol As for Lulu,,, doenst she knwo that 16 is peak sexual time for a man?? Us 30something are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy dowmhill already! Omri: I'm sure you could find a perosnal load for 10k ! lol Remi Muff 914
  7. Pulling is in deed for wusses........ I let either my Cypress or my plane take care of that for me.. eheheh (JUST KIDDING folks) I jump a Stiletto 170, and when the toggles dont fly off during opening, the openings are fine.... not much twists... the rig I have has mini rings and risers. Never had to cut it way (the only real reverve ride I had was a tension knot in a Sabre 210.. cant remember what rings I had on that rig anymore.. its true what they say, the minds is the 2nd thing to go)... Take care Ben, and see ya around (if the freaking weather decides to stop crapping!) Remi Muff 914
  8. Ben, I've seen Tear Drops with large rings mounted on mini risers. Lisa had not seen that config coming through Square 1, so it was news to her, but I'm almost sure I'veen it in Ccanada too on a US made rig... Remi Muff 914
  9. LOL@asbestos! I'm not a camera flyier, but I am a good observer (I think anyyways)... the D box or any other box is there to protect your camera from damage, not recesseraly to prevent any riser snags... I'm not sure if this is what you were trying to solve... Remi Muff 914
  10. Most of all the fatalities are preventable, not just the one caused by low turns. We push ourselves with every type of skydving activities.... Yes, low turns account for lots of fatalities, but that is WHY these numbers should not be removed from the general stats.... Its by looking at the numbers and analysing them that we, as a community and a group of sport association, can take action to reduce these deaths. By going ahead with the same logic, any act that adds risk to our sport should be seperated from the stats: jumping with a camera.... a birdman suit... freeflying (and no, I'm not suggesting banning freeflying, allthough... ) We must accept that any incident in skydiving is self-induced: WE jumped. Period. As Booth (I think) said: the only valid reason to jump form a plane is in an emergency (someone correct me if they have the exact quote). Dying form a low turn gone wrong is not suicide..... If it was the case, de Guayardon's death from his experiments with a wing suit is a suicide too, no? He had a mal from a self induced rigging error, no? And the girl who died a few weeks ago at the Ranch during the swoop competition, was that a suicide too? Where do YOU draw the line between an accident and an act to take away you own life? I know this thread started as a statistic issue, but the way we look at numbers influences how we act, and brushing asside "50%" (not my estimate) as "something else" is in my opinion more dangerous then turning low.... I sorry gang if I offended you or used incidents that happened to friends of yours to make my point.... I know I would hate to have a friend's accident called a suicide..... Remi Muff 914
  11. Hey Brandon: I bet you feel oblidged to say that now! Thx for the post Chuck, just goes to show that anything out of the ordanary (well, less ordinary then siumply jumping out of a plane) adds risk.... Remi Muff 914

  13. Better not tell the camera flyer's I've jumped with who have their camera's mounted on Protec's.... Remi Muff 914

Good job Emma! I'm still surprised noone has asked which one you are in the pics! Remi Muff 914
  15. Some DZs will not even accept a guardian's signature for a waiver as some rullings in a few lawsuits have rock the validity of such waivers... Remi Muff 914
  16. and we all know that the opening on beer bottles is more then adequate in girth for any use Skreamer could have for it.... Remi Muff 914
  17. From the brochure and talking to the reps in France... The Ninja is a 7 cell tri braced (or 21 depending how you want to count) (like the Velocity and FX) PDF is not positioning it as an extreme canopy to compete with them. They have designed it to be a high performace, very solid canopy, but not aimed at the extreme performance of the Velocity and Extremes (sorry Chuck...)... I think its a marketing blunder myself... its gonna be more expensive, larger to pack (I cant see the claim about lower volume anywhere and cant imagine how!) then a Stileto, Cobalt, xfire and even springo, but not in the same caliber then the Velocity and extremes? Who will want that? They didnt have a single one at Espace boogie which lots of people found strange.... being the biggest European boogie in PDF turf... And yes, they wont sell in the US: PDF is owned by a large hi tech/millitary corp and would have money to sue them for, and they dont want the exposure in the lawsuit crazed US... I've got a french pasport, so I'm allowed to insult the french (dont one of you dare! ): very strange and f**ked up... Remi Muff 914
  18. Agreed Lazer... sub 2K: its the reserve 3f: I would think about your position on this if I were you... If in you mind 1000 feet is good enough for your main AS LONG as your AAD is off, if you come to an emergency situation and you need to get out at 1000 or 1500: what are you going to do? maybe you;ll have a clear mind on what the process you'll apply and your decission making will be quick, but at low altitude, you should have a "1 plan" plan.... maybe you have already... Remi Muff 914
  19. yuk..... wuffo...... Remi Muff 914
  20. And THIS is why you should post these questions in the gear forum.... much less chance for the tread to degenerate.... I'm personally surprised that Boobies havent been mentioned yet.... Remi Muff 914
  21. I think most of the uproar came from the automatic weapons in the adds.... And never mind the other adds that showed a girl in a bath tub full of hot dog weinners.... how unsensitive and degrading for the saussages.. Remi Muff 914
  22. Wasnt the manufaturer " Lana's Land Of Latex"? Oooops... this is the serious forum.. I'll get in trouble now.... Remi Muff 914
  23. one the of fly boys on here correct me if I'm wrong, but a red out would ocur if if your body was pulling negative Gs (blood being rushed to the head)... this would be the case if you were spining on a point located "below" your feet. In a hard canopy spin, your body is pulling positive Gs (spinning around a point loacted "above your head"), and as such what you would experience is a back out. And Michele, shity can in deed happen no matter if your a student on a big canopy or a 15,000 jumps pro canopy pilot.... Remi Muff 914
  24. I think I know why you're not getting many answers: x-training for skydivers is more like alternating hard alcohol between beers.... Remi Muff 914
  25. Chuck said No, but if you are I guess you know Karna Luchsinger, huh? Lovely ................... Nice lady in deed... been about 5 years I havent seen any of the Sask people... doubt any would remember me (I was but a little 100 jump wonder when I lived in AB.. now I'm a 700 jump wonder) And as far as other Edmonchuckiens, I think Tee jumps at Westlock too (and some good friends of ours jumps there too: Errol and Cindy) Didsburry and and Beiseker are closer to Calgary. Dids is a CSPA DZ (check out www.cspa.ca), Beiseker AKA "skydive Ranch" and is not a CSPA DZ (I wont get into politics here, PM me for my opiniated opinion....) I lived on the South end too when I was in the Chuck...Eden North would be closer to you vs. Westlock, but its not that big a difference (maybe 1 hour). I havent been to either in FOR EVER (5 years).. I jumped at Blue Skies when i lived there, but its closed now...[sad] so I cant say what either are like now.... HOWEVER, if you want to give CReW a try, go to Eden, its the home of the Plaid Jackets (they won Bronze at the Air Games in Spain this year in one of the CReW events) and have been consistantly been among the top teams for quite a few yeards....
