  1. Watch out Chuck: Clay's gonna be entering the swoop competitions with his PD 190 now! Remi Muff 914
  2. Sorry, but come pull time, I, as a coach, track away and save my life. Junior jumpers typically (not all the time, but typically) do not have great tracks (many have slow turning deltas rather then tracks), and I want clean air when I open. Also, as a coach, unless you're a greatly experienced one, you dont really get paid much (heck, I recall many posters here saying that at their DZs, you can get free coaching, and that's a good thing), so how would it work for that coach to rent student gear? to have a similar decent rate? I agree its all nice in theory, but not at all in practice. There are plenty skills under canopy you can refine on your own (I'll refer you to the CSPA basic and sports Skills Grid) PS: sorry Slappie for kidnapping your thread.. Remi Muff 914
  3. Reality check! First, yep.. nice pics Slappie! On your track picture... call me a track nazi (we've got Lisa as the Canopy nazi, so we might as well have a track nazi... J/K lisa..), but thats a nice picture of a Delta, not a track... you need to de-arch more and bring you arms down more to get a good track... And as far as the instrutor playing follow the leader under canopy with AFF students: nice in theory, not in practice for all the reasons stated above. Remi Muff 914
  4. I just had to add my voice to the mess.... On the Great Margarine Debate: A pure substance is made of one molecule (well, one type od mulecule, many many many of oen type of molecule). A molecule is a set of atoms. PVC is a pure substance (Polyvynil carbonate). Margarine is not (its a bunch of oils, with are themselves not pure substances - allthough some oils are, but not un-relined oils - mixed with other additives). On the Peircing issue: Sis: when will we have pics? Winggy: no need from you Remi Muff 914

What about us poor males who get used by Skychicks???? When I moved to Edmonton, I knew no-one, was feeling lost, and after a miserable winter, I managed to drag myself to a local DZ... WELL... I did not realize in what kind of trouble I wasleading myself to... It hadnt been a couple of days there that a local Skychick noticed me,, and her words to herself were, and I quote " Fresh meat".... I was all alone, with no one to look after me, and she made a quick lunch out of this poor roaming jumper after getting me drunk.... Maybe Instructors are sluts, but some of these Skychicks are killers!!!! (PS, Its been 5 years and she hasnt let me go!) And Pammi: You guys are sick!!! SICK!!! lol Remi I-A, Coach 1, Coach 2 pending... Remi Muff 914
  7. WOW.. I'm pulling.. only problem is that its Skreamer!!!!! PS: 1st, There's middle of the night, stumbling down the street drunk.. thats one thing; but there's also drunk enough to make you feel really wesird sitting back at your desk to work.... PPS: I did say non standard ounces... anyone who has been to Spain will understand what I mean... the others, well, just plan a visit.... Remi Muff 914
  8. HELP ME!!!! I'm on business in Madrid, and I made the mistake of going to lunch with some colleagues.... left the office at 13:30, made it back at 16:45 2 beers, 1/4 bottle of Rioja, and 2 LARGE digestives (Pacharan if you wonder, and they never heard of standard Ounces in Spain) later, I'm back at a hot desk, AND I'M DRUNK!!!!!!!! These damm bastards spaniards sure know how to live!!!!! Remi Who is desperate to buy a shack and move to spain...... preferably close to Empuria Remi Muff 914
  9. I'm not gonna get into Javelin bashing (allthough dominant player in any industry should get its share), BUT... I'm really not sure about that Phree... ... My wife had a '94 with tuck tabs, and even before that I cant remember seeing ANY javelins with velcro riser covers...... but if there is one rig that I've seen that has a tendency to have its riser covers opened while wearing it, it is the Jav.... And for God's sake!!!! Stop treating sit/head down as the ultimate gear testing dicipline!!!! Try launching a linked 15 way (or more...) or diving last out of a DC3 (or even a caravan....) I'm not saying its worse, but it sure ass heck aint any more forgiving to poorly maintained/designed rigs.... Remi Who would rather jump or properly maintained Velcro filled Vector II or Racer then a poorly maintained -*insert your favorite velcroless hideen briddle rig here*- Remi Muff 914
  10. Remember guys, this is a moderated forum.. that being said... Now there's a whole bunch of DZ.comers lusting.... Now there's a whole bunch of DZ.comers frustrated and swearing they too will become instructors! Remi Muff 914

  13. This is going to be another fun thread! Sorry for the sarcasm Nate... but I'm sure you just opened up another can of worms.... Best bet is to talk to your instructors/ local trusted experienced skydivers Remi Muff 914

  15. When you do 4 or 8 way, a camera in the middle of it wont show much, plus its real easy to get a knee in the face when doing turning blocks, and exposing a camera to that is not the best of ideas. When doing larger formations, then the camera can show interesting things (levels come to mind), plus there is "less" chance for knees getting in the way... Remi Muff 914
  16. Lets make this thread a little more spicy... As a non-camera flyer, and a semi-experenced skydiver, I'll make a wide sweeping judgement: there is no such thing as a snag proof camera helmet. If you jump camera, you HAVE to be ready to cut-away the damm thing on any jump; even a *insert you favorite fully enclosed helmet here* can open in freefall or exit (if a mid-air colision can rip off a helmet, it sure could open a casing), and if a line catches it and you had belived you'd never have to chop it, you probably will be stuck without a Plan B in you head. 17. Man I hope this is a troll.... but I'll bite Have you looked at Paragliders? I'm not sure if they are pure elipses, but they have to be damm close... and they do not fly fast... they are designed to fly for ever... Remi Muff 914
  18. Moi??? Evil????? Did anyone notivce that this thread called "I got the Shot" is now about Viking getting his shot? Remi Muff 914
  19. Long weekend??? Do you damm North Americans have another one!!! damm.... (oh.. thats right, "we" brits had one last week)... maybe I should use my Canadian passport Monday and call in a religeous day off... Remi Muff 914
  20. Merrick, that makes 2 of us! lol Remi Muff 914
  21. Five cannibals get appointed as programmers in an IT company. During the welcoming ceremony the boss says: "You're all part of our team now. You can earn good money here, and you can go to the company canteen for something to eat. So don't trouble the other employees". The cannibals promise not to trouble the other employees. Four weeks later the boss returns and says: "You're all working very hard, and I'm very satisfied with all of you. One of our cleaners has disappeared however. Do any of you know what happened to her?" The cannibals disavow all knowledge of the missing cleaner. After the boss has left, the leader of the cannibals says to the others: "Which of you idiots ate the cleaner?" A hand raises hesitantly, to which the leader of the cannibals says: "You fool! For four weeks we've been eating Team Leaders, Managers, and Project Managers so no-one would notice anything, and you have to go and eat the cleaner!" Remi Muff 914
  22. Should someone tell him about how most 1st times are? Seriously Viking, all the power to ya! Remi Muff 914
  23. What's Penthouse forum? Remi Muff 914
  24. Completely agree as far as high speed impacts go! If the speed is high enough, your neck will probably break since none of the skydiving helmets protect them in any way... I wear a full face for the odd knee/foot in the face turning points or during exits, and the practicality of it (so easy to get from standby to jump mode.... just flip the visor down...) It may help in a high speed colision or landing incident (it has helped a few people in the past who struck planes, people or ground), but one shouldnt kid oneself about it.... many more have still died in these situations... Have fun, and be safe! Remi Muff 914
  25. where was that thread about dirty sounding expressions? Remi Muff 914
