I wouldn't be sacrificing function...as I dont read the numbers when I look at my altimeter...I know if the arrow is all the way up then I am at 12,000....if it is to the left I am about 9,000...if it is down I am at 6,000....if it is to the right...time to pull. simple enough. I dont need numbers to tell me the altitude.... Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....

I didn't say anything about getting in anyone's pant's....it is just a simple fact. women TEND to get a tad more attention at new DZ's than guys'...especialy if there a hottie..like yourself. Now my experience with Deland is kinda mixed. When I first went there it was a pain in the butt to find someone to jump with. everyone was a team guy, I was there on a weekday, blah blah blah...now I met quite a few nice people that I ended up jumping with...but they happened to all be visitors to the DZ. this is the primary reason that even though I lived only 10 minutes from the DZ that I drove 110 miles to Sebastian to jump most day's and did all my training there. the vibe is ALOT different there. now flash forward almost a year...after jumping there quite a bit during the week for about a year. I started making quite a few friends. mostly because they knew me from DZ.com..but some true Deland peeps...then I got invited on quite a few FF jumps and had a great time. it just took forever to break into the groove. I did have a great belly dive there one time when I only had 40 some jumps and told bob I needed someone to jump with...he found lisa aune and two PD blue guys for me to jump with. still not sure of there names but it was a blast and will always remember that jump. the night life there is kinda to be desired...but I think Andrea is right in that most people there are the industry..so they tend to go home at night to tend to other things in life than 100% skydiving... anyway, when I make it back down to FL for a vacation Deland will be on the list...just because it really is a great DZ...even if it has a few quirks... marc

Insurance for Skydiving question.
skymedic replied to Tailgate's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Contact USPA member services they will direct you to a provider of life insurance policies to skydivers that are very affordable. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman.... -
I agree with you guys. I wish I could have a discount on my USPA dues if I didn't have to get that pretty rag...and that's about all it is..pretty. I did get a survey from them a few months ago about an issue. I told em exactly what I thought of it. never heard back from them though...shame. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....

interesting story on spontaneous pneumo's...during my Paramedic class, one of the instructors talked about these very things, and told us about the tall skinny kids that it can affect. we all went blah blah blah...yeah right. not two days later in class one of the paramedic students dropped a lung right there. he fit the bill to a T. 21, 6'5" 150 pounds. he really scared the crap out of everyone. I am happy to say that chris is now a full time profesional firefighter/paramedic. so it is possible to be in high intensity sport/activity/job and have this problem. key is getting a 2nd or even 3rd opinion from someone you trust!!! peace and blues, marc

Sweet mike....great to see you back. I still have your #'s...too bad I'm living in St.Louis right now!!! but great to see your alive and well!!! remember that jump we did in Sebastian??? Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....

the Xfire is NOT Xbraced. read the Icarus website or better yet take a look at the canopy it self. as for the canopy, I'd suggest going with a same size Xfire demo. see how you like it. it is a very busy canopy...and that might not be what you want. demo and then see. I used to regularly drive 130 miles from Sanford,FL(10miles away from Deland) down to Skydive Sebastian. just because I loved the place so much. there were alot of times during my student AFF progression i drove down two or three times a week and maybe jumped one out of those days. it was worht every mile and penny...Loved that place. miss it so much!!!

Brian, I'm pretty sure it's the one's like what Dave is talking about. pull the line and it retracts it. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....

this is one of those.....if ya need to ask things... give it a couple hundred more skydives and then ask people at your DZ that you trust. BillVon jumps out there. ask him on canopy piloting advice. then move on. and the best way to do not get killed hooking...is to simply not do it. no law says you have to hook turn. I'll tone in on the HK USP. I owned a Stainless 40 as a sidearm used for work. it was a great gun that ALWAYS worked. never a hickup with well over 2500 rounds through the thing in a one year period. it's a fun gun and HK is one of the best when it comes to customer service. I have a serious problem with carrying 9mm anything...I've seen people first hand shot with 9mm hydra shocks with out them flinching...one or two rounds of a 40 and a 45 hitting them was like them getting hit with a sledgehammer. no thank you for a 9mm/.38 anything. Oh yeah...my other HK gun was an MP5..but hey that was the fun gun...hehehehe
