Hook n swoop did do some test jumps with very small canopies and much larger reserves and also found that they do get along well also... Do a search I know the info is out there on these types of combo's. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....

Seems to me most rigs out there are made for smaller reserves and bigger mains. look at sizing charts. very very rarely will you see a larger reserve with a smaller main. Typicly it is same sized main and reserve. My rig is one that is made for a large reserve(218-M) and much smaller main(Xfire 2 149) I like the feeling of being able to upsize in an emergency....and upsize considerably. Wings owners: where do you stow your excess brake line?
skymedic replied to gus's topic in Gear and Rigging
pulling through the loop was how I tied a not in my main stowing it that way. it slipped over the toggle during packing or during deployment..not sure which. but I stowed it the proper way and just pulled the toggle wrong and ended up with a knot. maybe I am not describing it well...wish I had a digi cam to describe it better. sorry. I've seen this method your describing cause a knot if the toggle is pulled through the loop. it can happen stowing this way. there are two seperate ways shown on the sunpath site. I am not a big fan of this one. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman.... -
the poster was asking how Roger Nelson and Mike Mullins had there kids jumping so early....not about the columbian kid who bounced. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....

Gus I store my excess line looped into the bottom elastic that also holds the toggle keeper. it has worked for me for year and a half now. with no issues. this is also SunPaths way for risers that dont have the extra bit of elastic on it. I also have the big Vectran line too and it works fine. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman.... -

The majority of EMS in the united states is NOT hospital based...so just knowing where your hospital is will tell you how long it will take for them to get you there...but not how long it will take for them to get to the scene. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....

Quade, when I felt one recently I was amazed at how heavy it felt. isn't that a bit much for the head to handle? Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....

When you are Roger Nelson or Mike Mullins you can do what ever the fuck you wanna do....and they have and did....RIP for Roger...but mike is fighting the good fight with USPA. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....

I used to think this is a good thing...but after much discusion with many a person I had decided this isn't a very good idea and now leave mine connected. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....

Yep...and I dont have gear and my DZ doesn't have gear...just to avoid the issue. we have life flight closer than we have a ground ambulance where I jump. also standard of care for good sam laws apply if you are on duty here in IL where I practice. as far as duty to act if I am not at work I do not have a duty to anyone. I can make my timeout go off when under canopy and in a steep front riser dive....kinda fun to hear it flat line at 1000feet...hehehe
-
exactly the problem we face....hence the reason why I never stop at car accidents and only do the bare minimum at the DZ if someone is injured...I know due to our good sam laws they can't really touch me...but that doesn't mean they can't sue anyway and try to beat the good sam law's. I am in no need or want of a lawsuit for something I did or did not do... Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman....

uhhh, so this is skydiving eh?
skymedic replied to skipro101's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I got a rush on my first jump...and then when I friend corked underneath me on a freefly jump when I dont have an AAD....THAT was a rush. I am in no hurry for anymore rushes....thank you very much. Marc otherwise known as Mr.Fallinwoman.... -
possibly...but more likely caused by numerous other issues with a broken open femur fracture. my advice for displaced CLOSED femur's is wait for an ambulance. I could hold manual traction...but you have no idea how stron the muscles are in the thigh, on top of a screaming hurting person, they will tense up and have more resistance for you to hold. remember most DZ's are way out of the way....and your nearest ambulance most likely will be an extended time(10-20mins or more) so if you apply traction and then let up an any point as those VERY sharp ends of bone go penetrating back into that jumpes leg you could lacerate nerves, or worse major vessels...letting an already very bad injury into a fatal injury. please dont be a hero....I dont treat at the DZ....other than rapid assessment and ABC's...let the ambulance do it. problem with this is as your main leaves it could snatch up your slider on your reserve and close off your reserve....RSL shackles can do this also if you have one installed. Some instructors will tell you to cut away, others will tell you not too. I personaly would deploy my main and deal with the two out situation if it even happens....two out leaves me with a chance, a fouled reserve because I jump an RSL and cutaway is NOT a good thing.
