  1. We heard it here first! Never go to a DZ strip show.
  2. Deans campaign fell apart almost overnight. It's a little early to be celebrating. Oh things can change but what this really goes to show is that people have finally started to question the policies of this administration. I personally have talked to more than one or two people who voted for GWB in 2000, many of whom are traditional Republicans, and they don't like him one bit and won't make the same mistake twice. 3. Do you have an answer to any of the questions? Ciels- Michele Let's see, no, I haven't heard anything about the Kerry campaign having a call-center in Canada. I'm not denying it but I haven't hear anything about it. Do I care to look it up and post a link as you can google just as easily as I can? No. Does Heinz have any oversees holdings? Probably, but then again WTF does that have to do with John Keryy anyway? The decisions of the corporation are made by a board of directors and a CEO, of which Kerry is neither I'm fairly sure. Again, you can google just as easily as I can. The rest, well you said you got you answers already and I've read most of them too. Thanks guys for doing Michele's and my googling for us. we appreciate it. Michele, I think you and I and the rest of us here know that the two of us like to ask questions that we at least think we already know the answer to for effect. It's ok, not a bad thing, but don't try to feign impartiality. It's just silly. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  4. I'm definitely gonna look into this. I've always found canopy flight to be the most enjoyable part of my skydives so far. I'm beginning to enjoy feefall a bit more as I become more used to it but not quite as much as CC. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  5. Let's just put it this way, if there weren't a slant, there would be no need for the portions of this I'll put in bold... Never go to a DZ strip show.
  6. maybe i was mistaken, thanks for letting me know... they also told me to make sure and not even try to turn it on once we were on the ride Never go to a DZ strip show.
  7. I was out there a few years back with the king air. did my first jump ever (a tandem) in it. it was a hell of a ride, the climb rate of that plane made it almost as thrilling going up as coming down Never go to a DZ strip show.
  8. This was the post that started this part of the debate: She later claimed that she was just trying to get info so she could make an informed decision, why didn't she ask for info for GWB too then? She claims to be impartial but that post alone seemed to me at least to have a very anti-Kerry slant. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  9. You still on the fence John? I don't think he tries to give the impression of impartiality. Michele does give that impression but it also shows through (to me anyway) that she's fairly locked on GWB for '04. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  10. I've only been in the sport a little while and know of at least one person who had a cypres misfire. It was his fault because he turned the thing on in the plane at 5k but supposedly the cypres is capable of recognizing the ascent and not arming. But I'm not a cypres expert by any means. 11. hey, i'm not slamming you, i'm really just curious. i'd like to know as much as possible about this as i will hopefully be making some sort of gear purchase myself this year and would like to have an accurate idea of the relative safety of these devices... I'd be interested to know if anyone has any information about early results in the cypres series... did they have any "bugs" early on? Never go to a DZ strip show.

    Bored Skydivers?

I understand what you're saying, we all need time with our "sheep" but are the jumps themselves, forget training, debrief, etc. ever not fun because it's a "work" jump? Never go to a DZ strip show.
  13. Just curious, where'd you get the 4/20 number? I thought someone said there were over 100 in the states and I'm sure a decent amount more worldwide. Plus, wouldn't you base the probability of misfire on # of jumps and not simply units? Never go to a DZ strip show.

    Bored Skydivers?

Just a question, mainly for those who jump for money, AFF-I, tandem-I, etc... Do any of you actually not have fun on even the work jumps? I mean, I know it's a job and us students can make it difficult at times but come on, it's jumping out of airplanes... If it weren't a hell of a lot of fun regardless, wouldn't it be pretty stupid to do? Never go to a DZ strip show.
  15. Do you have an AAD at all? Haven't they all had misfires? Never go to a DZ strip show.
  16. I figured the part about others exiting first... Question, how much experience is generally considered enough to be flying with other canopies? Never go to a DZ strip show.
  17. Multiple fatalities per day is frivolous? - Jim This is what we call using something out of context. Boys and girls pay attention. Some people use things out of context to attempt to make it look like a person said one thing when they meant another. Usually the person who uses something out of context is attempting to make the other party look bad. This is generally considered dishonest and unethical boys and girls, don't you grow up to be like this ok No, every dollar which is needed to keep those who absolutely have to be there should be spent (haven't I heard stories of soldiers having to by their own protective vests?). We should not be spending money on dicks tits and chips (fries) when it's needed elsewhere. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  18. I realize that I didn't completely make myself clear, John, let me take the leap of logic that my statements implied for you. I would internationalize the efforts in Iraq, I'd involve the UN and whatever Muslim nation who were willing in order that it wouldn't look to the people of Iraq like a "white man's invasion". Again, international force, international peace-keeping efforts. Not just us and a few nations we bribed despite the sentiments of their own citizens. Do you really have a problem with making this an international effort? Even if it means we can't just give contracts to whomever we please? Well, considering that we're losing more than one solider a day over there, I think they have more important things to think about. Considering how much that operation is costing I would prefer they weren't allowing frivolous things such as this to add to the deficit. It all ties in John, it's just been one long line of wrongly motivated and incompetent decisions. It's gonna take a long time to make up for the damage these people have done. Never go to a DZ strip show.
  19. oooh i really wanna do this, you don't think it would be bad to do this still on student status do you? Never go to a DZ strip show.
  20. I note that you ignored my previous question:"If you were King, what action would you take in Iraq to solve the problems?" It's easy to criticize what is. It's a lot harder to come up with a better idea. Do you think we should just pull out and let all the factions go about commiting massacres against each other? No John, if were King, better yet if I were president of the United States, I'd realize that we got ourselves into this and we now have a reponsibility to find a reasonable way out. I'd immediately go to the UN and all the nations we pissed off when we took this thing on in the first place and I'd ask for their forgiveness. I'd promise to relinqush control of Iraqi assets and open the bidding process for the contracts to build Iraq to the world. I'd keep said bidding process out in the open. I would also realize that it will be necessary to leave some of our boys there for possibly a long time to come, but I'd take every step possible to reduce that number ASAP. I'd stop waisting time and taxpayer dollars on issues of weather or not one man can call another man his wife, covering up the tit on a statue meant to represent liberty, and renaming a food. I can go on, if you like? Never go to a DZ strip show.
  21. And they're both hot. And apparently wild party girls too, you could get em drunk and have a bunch of fun with em it weren't for the damn secret service Never go to a DZ strip show.
  22. ROTFLMAO, omg Kennedy, that mister rogers thing. ooh Never go to a DZ strip show.
  23. You summed it up for me right there buddy So a jump is more risky, its a hell of a lot more satisfying too. Driving 242 miles sucks ass. Incidentally, its 100 miles from my house to the DZ and back (round trip) so 2 weekends of traveling to and from the DZ is roughly as risky as one jump. My round trip is actually just about 242 exact. Freaky... Never go to a DZ strip show.
  24. I'm with you on this. When I did students, I always told them it was their job to save their own life. As for them saying they didn't receive emergency training. It's their word against the JM and Instructor. A good thing to have is a copy of a test that you give the students after their class. We did that when I was a JM. If the student didn't answer one of the questions correct, that told me that I didn't do my job in teaching them. I would then sit down with that student and review with them. You guys sounds great, my FJCI was great too. I wouldn't have gotten on the plane is he hadn't made me feel confident that I knew what to do, including airplane emergencies. The test is critical, it would scare me if they had just told me everything and said "ok lets go" Never go to a DZ strip show.
