isn't pakistan the "former Bangladesh"?? dirt poor and in chronic chaos... how did THEY get nuclear technology??? it would be BAD to be put in the spot of having to "nuke them there,,, before they nuke Us here".... could be best to destroy their stockpiles with conventional munitions, rather than allow them to fall into the hands of the taliban.... the first time i heard of these people was when it was reported a decade ago or so, that they were systematically DESTROYING Historical and Significant shrines, buildings, statues, archeological Artifacts, and artistic creations ,, in Afghanistan, and other places.... They are the equivilent of a swarm of mindless locusts... and must be stopped... now we learn how serious a distraction,,, iraq was..... and how it steered us AWAY from applying the needed efforts to squash the vermin,,,,, which the taliban has shown itself to be.....we could have been DONE and outta there by now.... and with B laden in custody, or dead,,, to boot... jt

people who are "in the skydiving business" are to be thanked for what is a 24-7 type of job, and for all their "off-season" efforts,, which MUST be accomplished in order for ANY event to run smoothly.. I travel much less than I would like to,, but my 14 hour drive to Skydive Carolina , last june, was simply One of the BEST times,,,, I've EVER had at a DZ... ( we even got to drive accross the New River Gorge Bridge, which i had Never yet seen... ) and I have HAD some FINE FINE times , over the years... I was impressed with The staff, the volunteers, the regulars, and the visitors.... SD Carolina handled logistics so well that they could be a template.... for how it's done... Huge crowds of jumpers, great on - the - spot decision making.. handling everything from registration, to manifest, to hot HOT HOT daytime air temps,, ( over 100 F.. for days... ) , Refueling of aircraft, AND skydivers.. Food concessions,,, Ice water filled coolers, available in 4 or 5 locations, clean up after 4 or 500 jumpers,, on a daily basis...UNflappable organization and communication....Air Conditioned Shower Trailers,,,,,,,, I saw Nothing but smiling faces,, from All,, inlcuding J from Skyfest.....

answers 1. i had never been in a plane before, and was mostly looking for an airplane ride .. jumping out was a bonus...( 50 bucks for training, gear ( Static Line ) , lift, logbook and certificate) 2. Yes. there are. physically,,, your body can take a beating and you can wear out. spiritual?? emotional?? Yes again...we are Flying....that's pretty amazing, and amazement is alllll in the head. 3. I FEEL the air beneath me,, which supports me and lets me move where i want.. i hear the wind noise, and enjoy its' song... I often think While under canopy,, "This is exactly, where i want to be " 4 a... i went over 3,000 jumps,,,a couple of years ago.. If the gear is in airworthy condition, and if you have been trained for proper use of ALL the components, then hell yeah!!! have at it.... Since you are ALREADY accustomed to freefall and to exits, and to climbouts,,, and to deployment procedures you should have little trouble with " some old ass gear"...... After ALL many of US jumped such equipment AND did so, on our VERY First Jump!!... usually accompanied by "feet out the door" "get UP on the step", "head Up " weight on the arms, over the strut", and then,,, Exit!!!. that gear worked fine then, and should work fine now... be sure it's been rigger inspected,, by someone who has ( in addition to a rigger rating ) LOTS and Lots of grey hairs,,, and logbooks that go back to the 70's... guage the winds, be careful not to get to far downwind,, too soon, during your descent, or you could watch the dz moving away from you while you back up.. over it.... and of course... do NOT.,,,,,, flare...

i had the pleasure, to meet Bob Sinclair in jan. of 08... He was jumping,,,had a 240+ square foot, ram air, with a frankenstein logo on it. saw him again this past jan...and i'm sure i saw a couple of his landings.. seems to me that his rig is a piggyback, but with a cable and pins, old style main ripcord,,and spring loaded pilot chute(s) for his main...IIRC..

yes always in fact i tend to wear a camera suit... even on RW fun jumps.... ( i used to shop for clothes, with my MOM,,,, in "the stout boys" section....)

i dunno.... i had a few of those trv sonys. and most of them,, trv20 trv27 trv7 maybe.. had a little lever UNDER the eyepiece which you could pivot, on about a 60 degree range,,,to affect the focus. IN the eyepiece IIRC.. look and see, good luck jmy

technically,,, I've been doing coach jumps for decades........ AND paid my own slot... i often used the "lay a base,,, wait for the dock,, back off and down,,, relay the base, wait for the dock, etc etc, " technique,, years and years ago... then after the 'rating" came out.. It was determined that sudddenly I was NO LONGER capable of doing what I had been doing successfully,,, for a long long time.... since i didn't HAVE that rating.... so... i attended a coach course, passed it successfully, earned the rating,,,, as did 6 or 8 other club members,, I did a few coach jumps, and put in alll the required pre jump and post jump effort,, BUT had to share the limited coach slots, with others... Long story short, I only did 7 or 8 coach jumps that first season,, since i was also called upon to shoot video,, which some how seemed to take priority, according to the needs of the manifest staff... sooooo. according to USPA,,, i had to forfeit my coach rating, because i had not done 10 coach jumps in a year.... so something i WAS qualified for decades ago,( sharing the air with a novice), and something for which I attended the course, passed all the requirements, and earned, was revoked, on a technicallity... I say nothing about it... BUT i guarantee that there are others who got the rating,, did NOT do 10 coach jumps a year,, especially if they are at a DZ with a dozen or so coaches, and especially if they only do one or two, here and there,,,AND especially if they are at a cessna DZ, where 100 total jumps on a weekend day,, is a LOT.... why have those folks , Not surrendered their ratings?? i KNOW i'm still capable , to help a novice, only USPA says i can't.. How many coaches out there?? have failed to meet the minimums, yet still consider themselves, as "current".. just wonderin'????? logbooks??? sure. there are 12 of them sitting on a shelf, right here... some of 'em have 100 jumps in them, some 150 ,and a few of them held 500 jumps... i have a variety of styles and sizes....from the "ten jumps on a page" to the "2 jumps on a page"... i'm glad i have them and i'm glad i kept them accurate.... they are true documentation of where, when, with whom i made a jump and sometimes even contain an explanation of WHY??? ...i was making a skydive...

interesting question... assuming i still get the sleep that i currently enjoy,,( which is plenty ) I 'd choose.. More time at my desk taking care of filing and paperwork,,, income and outgo... new work and exisiting customers. I wear all the hats around here, and so in addition to being out , on installations sites or service call sites, I have to also finish the office work... i keep up with it ok ,,, as it is.. but another hour a day, would be great !!! I wonder where I could FIND that extra Hour???? hmmm?? Hey I know.... stay OFF DZ dot com,, and use THAT time more productively!!!!

My son, who is at college GOT me......But GOOD!!!!!! ... so then I used the same approach to get some others...... He called from school,,, his voice "sounded" on edge... ( A Father can TELL when such is the case ) So I say,,, " Is everything ok?" He replies.. "well dad, not sure how to tell you this,, BUT i think it's best to look at it, in a positive way" and I say,, " What Jim'???? He replies,, " Congratulations,, You're gonna be a GrandFather"...... ( Now this is from a 23 year old, Single Kid, who does NOt have a steady GF) I GULPED... was speechless for a second,,, then said... " Oh Jim,, what the hell??? " He went on,," well I knew this girl,, but i hadn't seen her in months,, But she came over today, and told me, she is expecting, is 3 months along, intends to HAVE the child,, and It's mine"... "Ohhhh Jeeze" I say... " Damn.... damn..." Jim??? He says,, " I feel that I HAVE to "man Up" and take responsibility" there's not much I can do about it"... So I groan,,,shaking my head,, and say to him " what do you have to say for yourself"?? He says... " Only 4 words Dad" , "Got Ya !!! " April Fools".. Ziiinnnnggggg!!!!!! I was got.. and got good.... soooo as i breathed a sigh of relief, and laughed at my kids well done prank... My thought was..... " Which she did, and while He re-iterated that entire story again,, I stayed on the line and played along,,, with all the appropriate Groans, and "oh Nos", etc etc. He strung Nancy along, for a minute or two, then said to her... Aprils Fools".... so all the rest of the day, I was calling friends, and My brothers,, to "cry on their shoulders",,,,, about the fact that I "was gonna be a grandfather..." and "what should i do??"..
