visited friday , while en route to a family get together near there,,,,, then returned sunday to make a couple of skydives... people are REALLY damn friendly... it's so much fun to be there.... did a two way with the Always pleasant Bolas and we got 14 grand...

I sorta disagree...... for it's time, (late 60s ) i think it excited people and reflected the thoughts of THAT era,, that skydivers WERE barnstormers and borderline weirdos..... Which they WERE!!!!! hahaha.....But it WAS exciting... However, for technical effort and skydiving photography and for "introducing the world" to the sport.. i give it a B +... I got a kick outta seeing Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr... re-enact the love scene in the surf,,, Much the same as they did in From Here to Eternity.... NOW if you have to ask... What the hell is From Here to Eternity.... then you'd likely be a youngster.... If The Gypsy Moths were produced or marketed today , or even 25 years ago,, then i would agree.....it's about as Hoakey as it gets...!!

Mortars which kick the shell waaaay up there with a nice concussive FOOOOM...... and then, explode into one or two high altitude bursts,,,, and finish with a bright flash,,, the sound of which, reaches our ears , 2 seconds later!!!!!! with a terrific BOOM!!!!!!,equivilent to a 1/2 stick of TNT..!!! jt

i dunno... but you can be sure that they will Dirt Dive the HELL out of it,,,, before even checking to see if the light switch has been turned ON!!! or the lamp is plugged IN !! jmy

American Express since they Require that you pay the ENTIRE bill in full each month... remember what SO many individuals and businesses FAIL to grasp...... a credit card is NOT a free ticket to BUY ANYthing we want.. It is simply a convenience tool, that allows us to enter into an OBLIGATION, to make a payment for an item or service,,, the benefits of which we have ALREADY enjoyed....by the time the bill arrives.. a good rule for C. Cards, is to resist using them for "consumable items".... especially crap like fast foods, impulse purchases and junk that we may "want" but really don't "NEED" now skydives are another story altogether!!! ok to use 'em for that , BUT you MUST pay the bill in FULL,, otherwise those seemingly reasonable priced jumps wind up costing 50 % to 100% MORE, by the time they ARE paid for... CASH is a good way to go...but of course i am Old School,, And i work hard.. to be sure that there is always cash in my pockets.. this way ,,,, when i DO make a purchase it is with REAL money, and watching those bills fly away out of my hands, adds a certain REALITY to any purchase,, and definately makes me think twice or three times, about buying the item(s)...

just because blades are NOT turning does NOT mean "they are busted".. wind Farms which can include dozens of towers produce clean renewable electricity.....as a COLLECTION of towers.. I'm sure that most of us Know,,, that the blades are designed to Feather Themselves, either on a timetable,, OR when wind speeds surpass certain sensible limits.... CAN'T have a blade spinning so fast that it seperates from it's HUB!!!!!!! think of all the ANTS and BUGS.. that could be 'harmed" when that blade hits the ground !!! ( about as ridiculous a concern , as is the concern that wind turbines, kill birds.... ) IF the initial and HUGE capital Outlay can be weighed against the Long term energy production . which is possible from the extended lifetime of the mechanism... hopefully this approach will prove to be a fiscal AND environmentally sound approach.. PLUS they Just LOOK so Damn Magestic!!!! jmy

....Now that's a GOOD ONE, right there...!!! i think i'm gonna make up a sticker with that quote , on it, and put it on the back of my helmet....!!!! please also remember NOT to get carried away While Under Canopy or distracted trying "to video something", instead of watching for traffic, maintaining altitude awareness and safely inserting yourself into the pattern, among the others in the sky... Also, If the camcorder has the LANC port, i'd say get a cameye or a hype-eye, it couldn't hurt and is a relatively low cost 'insurance policy' not sure just how you'd run the wire, given the release, but camera helmets were BORN to have Holes drilled in them ..

interesting quick connect. i have 2 questions 1. it looks like the parts mate up and then "twist' to engage... and if so,,, couldn't a riser strike at just the right angle, cause the box to pivot??, thereby making it 'susceptible to 'unlocking' ?? 2. what provisions have been made for a cameye indicator light? i can see that the control switches for the camcorder are easly accessed and that's good.... ( I never Run my cams from the cameye switch.. THAT switch is kept covered and is stuffed up inside one of the hollow 'ears' on my BatRak ) But is IS helpful to have that indicator light up next to one eye,, to TELL me,, what is going on, with the camera... had you given some thought to the USE of a cameye??? skydive safely jmy A 3914 D 12122 nscr 1817

so i opened my HC-3 to put in a new mini dv tape, and now it won't click to engage,,, and then activate the motor to lower the carriage assembly.... seems like something isn't mating up. When i "Push" on the part of the carriage which says 'push'...it just springs back out... those assemblies seem awfully fragile and so i don't wanna force anything. is there something obvious that i am missing??? tried removing and re-installing the battery... no go. i think the problem is more mechanical,,, than electrical. as though something isn't catching,, including the switch which signals a motor to lower the tape... help....... jt

hell man!!!! I'm glad you stayed home TOO!!!!! what a lousey thing to say...!! It's NOT always about the specialty planes and the L O 's though such things ARE nice.. It's about the people, and the vibe and the safe and fun dives which were to be had... The staff there, was hard working and friendly the SkyFest people and volunteers,,, likewise... you make of it,,, what you will... at ANY boogie.. Lift tickets were reasonable, lots of manufacturers and gear reps, worked hard to set up displays and offer their services to jumpers... and many many people worked hard to deliver a fun and safe time... as for the registration fee??? hmmm I dunno... no BIG deal... we got a NICE T -shirt out of it !!.. and while there i heard VERY LITTLE bitching or complaining... so??? what do YOU know???? not much.. jmy

thanks kkeenan very good post. now if only all that 'extra' fuel they had to burn could have been safely offloaded to the tanks at the various DZs in FLA...... it would have been a true taxpayer 'perk' still very cool to fly low and slow so folks on the ground could admire the sight.... it's possible that as the shuttle program reaches its end, if the last few missions return directly to the cape... then never again, will a Shuttle Orbiter and a 747 fly together cross country... hey man,, it was exactly one year ago,,,, that you shared that cool embroidered NASA patch with me... still have it ,,, safe and sound
