  1. I have, at length...thank you for the vapid advice.
  2. I'm sorry, but I don't agree with your thinking either.
  3. yes, but YOU chose how to spend that money and YOU chose where to spend that money where you saw VALUE in it for yourself. I don't believe we have the choice as individuals here, to cross out crap in this bill that we dont like or see value in it for the long run. I think, party line aside, we can all agree that there needs to be an influx from the government, even if only to improve the "mood and confidence" of the country. I think worthwhile infrastructure projects - real bricks and mortar stuff, along with additional responsible bolstering of financial insititutions are good ideas; however, the size of the bill, where admittedly there are hundreds of billions that will NOT stimulate the economy or create jobs, is irresponsible government at best...why should any of us, regardless of "affiliation" accept that??
  4. I had exactly the same thought last night... the best, fastest, cheapest, most effective way to get people buying, stop defaults on mortgages, etc etc is to let the people keep their money. It's the most effective means, but like you said, how do you re-impose taxes without losing your ratings later?? Not gonna happen, even IF it is the best way...Pelosi's facelift would give out.
  5. hmmm... .... aren't you PRO's supposed to be experts?? (just being facetious and having a little fun here, Morris, don't take it personally)
  6. Both Ian and Annie preggers at the same time ??? what a thought!!
  7. Now look what you've done Morris! you created a Monster!! (just mucking about here...I'm bored as hell tonight and have very little clue as to what's really happening but... it appears to be all Morris' fault :-)))
  8. Define "middle class"....seems that is becoming as difficult to do as catching smoke... What caused the downturn? 1) economic cycle 2) exacerbated, but not caused, by poor Congressional policy making re mortgage lending and a lack of sufficient oversight ( note that I did not state regulation) on/over Wall Street. 3) low/negative savings rates/increasing household debt that became unsustainable I fear it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better but I personally am not a fan of the bailout packages as they are being "administered". Also not a fan of the current administration "scare tactics" on the American population which only creates more lemmings heading to the trough for financial assistance. It seems to me that we should be concentrating on stepping up the efforts on the housing and financial markets, leaving the companies that cannot survive the current climate to go off into the sunset. Might take longer for recovery on the employment front, but it would be a healthier recovery, and avoid isolationism/protectionism, and should cost less. But much greater minds than mine cannot figure out what needs to be done, so my opinion is just that.
  9. +1 This is just the beginning...Chicago being the political cesspool that it is and has been for decades, what exactly did we expect?? It takes a village, remember??
  10. Help us?? LOL!!! you're the one thats' gonna need the help, Ian... Us "been there done that" are just gonna smile and watch the angst and joy, sturm und drang of your experience as it unfolds.
  11. very sorry to hear that Ian. I was very much looking forward to seeing you and cheers-ing you... See you in Feb then...meantime, BIG ((xx)).
  12. ..true that! We even have Europe represented now. :-) See you there!
  13. Metre. It's spelled metre. A meter is a measuring device. .. are you always this nice or just today?? ....
  14. ..like I said... it was 7th grade science... :-) Nevertheless, metric is the way to go even if kilogram, liter and meter don't sound as sexy as we'd like.
  15. When a kilogram's a liter, the math is much neater. yes, but if my 7th grade science serves me, for 1 liter to weight 1 kg, the specific gravity of the liquid has to be 1.0 - higher than that it weighs more than 1 kg.

    Buoy ....

I must say... this is the funniest thread I have read on BF....ever.... great minds (if unbelievably underutilized given the time you all appear to have), live here.. thank you! I needed the LOL today.
  17. Zhills will have the most action and has great facilities. Lake Wales smaller (but also nice). Will be at Clewiston for the first time Jan 17/18 so no comment there. Been to ZHills many times .. always a good time, recommended
  18. ..you KNOW you wanna get outta the snow, man!! C'mon down!!
  19. I don't do it myself on the Velo (haven't learned it yet) but I know at least one Velo pilot ( many jumps on the 90 and 96 with camera gear) who swears by it. He does come out with a very neat packjob.
  20. Oh, but I beg to differ...there's enough testosterone in them thar swoop-boys to counter the man-pris effect...by far...
  21. ...and you look damn sexy in them, too Hans! Might have a chance to come down and play at the Farm for a weekend in late January...assume you're open weather permitting...??
  22. thanks everyone!! I went a little overboard and got him GHWT, Mario Kart and StarWars, but he's been awesome this year and asks for very little since we drilled the selfishness out of him. Seems like a good year to throw a little spoiling around for once. That oughta keep him happy for the winter months when outdoor activity is just not in the cards, right?
