  1. You tell him!! Who's loading at 1.9?? Even I ate my way past that threshold :) Baby got back!!
  2. Get over it folks, we all have to pay our taxes and play by the rules I'm ok with that but it seems that some of our elected and appointed officials don't play by the rules, tax and otherwise, so what kind of message does that send??
  3. thanks for expanding on the post, Kim! We do ge the Conn. people from time to time so the OP might get lucky. We're chasing each other around on the forums today, eh? Hope all well with you.
  4. ...so what are we going to do about these tactics in DC?? Anyone ?? Who's ready to march on Washington?? Sending letters to your Congressman & Senators yet?? Making some calls?? Sending some emails?? If not now, when?? edited for poor grammar which may still be present but unidentified by me so far.
  5. Start with a good term life insurance policy that covers the skydiving - and I don't mean a 100K death and dismemberment cheapo package. It'll run $1500+ per year premium for $500K coverage or at least that's what I found some time ago. Choices are limited. However, that may allay her financial worries. If you can cover that, then move forward with the other advice about exposure to the sport. Without $$ coverage in place, she has every right to feel anxious and no matter how comfortable she gets around the DZ, this will always be an issue.
  6. You can try posting your plight on The Ranch forum: http://www.theblueskyranch.com/forum. There's a section for ride-shares I believe. The pick up might be easier to find than the Stamford drop off but you never know....
  7. ...there probably was some Russian Mafia threatening the lives of the editors at Parachutist but shhhhhhhhhhhhhh... it's a secret!!! In all seriousness, a good photo takes both a good subject and a good photographer who knows how to capture it.
  8. When I went thru student progression, I was taught (relentlessl - thank you Linda Waz) the two handed method which I learned and always tossed both the handles in the training harness. It's saved me a few times, but I have purchased quite a few sets of handles. Miraculously on the last cutaway I somehow managed to hold on to both... witnessed on the video (my perspective) is my amazement when I see them in my hands and the relieved giggle that comes with a good reserve :-)
  9. As you and I both know, the traffic points should be higher but that would eliminate the bonus pts for not having manpris. Tough call but I think you did a good job of balancing the spread :-) It really is a wonderful photo.
  10. LOL!!! I'll believe it when I see it, Dave! :-) Hope all well with you. You shld come down to the Farm with Adam Teeling and Lead for the April meet...good times there!
  11. Wow, you really know everything about everyone that decides to buy what they want - but doesn't please your senses...for whatever reason they want to buy it. Who are you to judge the person that drives a $40K+ car?? I don't immediately assume that someone who drives a jalopy or low-budget car is poor or liberal or whatever. I own a Q7 and a Scion....depending on what I drive on any given day you'd judge me differently??? Idiot!!!
  12. INCORRECT!!! A very, very large person's camel toe is a moose knuckle.. at least here in NY ...
  13. I don't know about others but I've had some pretty fun runs under a Velo loaded at 2.0, especially during competition, and sometimes you gotta bail out of the course (if you don't want to swim, that is)which can mean using some of that plf training...and it comes in handy.
  14. .... Yes. discrimination but not because your heart is black as night it's just that the American winds see your Russian ass flying thru the air and immediately decide to put a stop to it...
  15. that pose/pic never gets old... so many ways of utilizing that one.. winds - sometimes you win, sometimes you lose... go to enough comps and it probably evens out over time.
  16. John rocks! One of the most patient TMs I know. Congratulations!! See you around the Ranch!
  17. That's why you got beat by a GIRL!!! LOL!! Time to man up and start playing more like the big kids, Steve. We gotta get there, even if it's baby steps like mine. We'll hit pro-gates before I turn 50, I promise!
  18. Wow!! That's a beast! Can't wait to come and play on it/swim in it...whateva!
  19. I'm in.... provided I can participate with a 2 w/l
  20. But hot diggity, Ian, dont you make that burrito look damn sexyyyyyyyyyyyy! Edited to add: Speed course - yes, agreed - altho it does not apply to my skills at present in particular, it's a good idea overall.
