  1. Thanks for the info, will do! As I hail from the Ranch I guess I have to wait a bit longer to register. Looking for that "open season" date as well.
  2. Seriously considering Jan 1- 5 and doing the women's comp. Hope to see many ladies there ready to learn and rock! Anyone looking to split a room all or part of those dates?? If so, PM me
  3. I was there but only as a spectator... I got hooked that way and been working on it ever since. Participated in 2004 and 2005. This year was rained out 2x. Thanks for the positive vibe. I believe some of the skeptics are missing the point here.
  4. Gender/Sex has nothing to do with ability. It is the forum of swooping and allowing women to have a chance to do so in a competitive environment with other women which may, indeed, lead to less fear in competing with men in the future. It is a step, I believe, meant to eliminate the segregation and get more women to swoop and compete doing so! I don't see what the big fuss is all about.
  5. I've "participated" (takes the pressure off when you know you'll end up last...) at the Ranch Pondswoop for a couple of years (it's my home DZ) and it can be very intimidating. However, the experience focuses your thinking and for me was always a personal challenge to find the courage inside. So aside from doing a gut check every jump, I always came away with new friendships and lots of information to work on. It would be great to meet more women in the discipline and be able to learn and share our experiences - especially how to maximize what we can get out of our potentially lower wing loading (speaking for myself at 1.7) and "less than crossbraced" canopies. I'd definitely make the attempt to go.
  6. Hey Dave, I am planning on "participating" - hopefully the weather will hold for us.... Hoping for wet feet only.. See you there !
  7. Don't think it's easy being me :) that one hurt...
