Just a friendly reminder: June 6, 2008 Skydive Sussex Sussex NJ www.jumpsussex.com 200' distance course is set up - wind indicator flags are being arranged for this Friday (dirt cheap...I am sewing them myself) but somebody's gotta do it.... PM or email me by Thursday morning if you are coming so we confirm start time and plane/pilot. $18 to 4K if we get 60 total jumps done, price down to $17 (or less) Non swoopers /noobs always invited to join in - work on your pattern, accuracy etc. See you there!

How timely this video is. I just this past Friday finally had Laszlo attach the $200+ piece of equipment on my helmet.. fast forward to load 1 next day....spinning mal... I think the excess brakeline caught on the ringsight, caused a toggle fire and the rest is spinny line twist history...I made 1 jump with it - nylon screws - everything cleared beautifully, including the sight which is somewhere over the trees in Gardiner NY.... will be working for free for another weekend to pay for everything but those nylon screws were key I am sure.

Shop at midnight!!! I guarantee you those peeps are NOT there and then you'll have more daylight hours to jump .. It's that simple..

I put on about 30-40K flight miles per year - about 10+K of that is international. Flying overall has become a nightmare. They are not kidding when they say it's worse than ever. It took me just under 10 hours to get out of Charlotte NC to Newark, NJ 2 weeks ago.. on a SUNDAY!!! Anyway re luggage, I have learned to pack for 5 working days with carry on only.... that eliminates the issue... doesn't work with skydiving trips but there I carry on my rig, suit, helmet and whatever I need to jump... the rest, who cares?? If I could get $50 for every hour I have sat in airports due to delayed/cancelled and otherwise f-ed up flights, I'd be jumping right now, on a 6-month sabbatical from working...fully paid.

Delta lost my luggage - direct flight JFK to Nice, France... nothing for 2 days - work trip in Cannes - $25 reimbursement.. .. gimme a break....I had to shell out close to $800 for business and cocktail attire. THAT was an expensive one....and you can imagine the attitude I got from the lost luggage frogs at Delta counter in Nice

Dont Ever Leave The Airport was always my fave...

[reply Keep in mind that the time it takes your canopy to open is time from PC release to slider coming down - NOT the time from the last time you look at your altimeter in freefall to the first time you look at it under canopy. LOL!! I'll bet a few peeps out there measure that way....I know I used to back in the day and boy did I have a sniveler of a Sabre 1...

The Pro Shop at the Ranch sells them too. $4 each :)I buy them by the case-load...

Okay, so we had terrific weather for our first Sussex Swoop Club on Friday May 23. We had the 182 and a pilot at our disposal the entire day and only had to make way for 3 tandems all day...It was like having our own private DZ. Steve Webb ( Utah ) the DZ GM made everything as smooth as possible and we "owned the place" so to speak. Everyone who came out jumped as much as they wanted. We had the time and manpower to set up a 200' distance course with 5' gates and 50' increment markers. This course is now up permanently for us to train with additional course amendments (for accuracy and eventually a speed course) to follow as the fields are put into shape. We have scheduled the next swoop/canopy piloting Friday for June 6 - 8:30 till whenever. I have already started collecting emails from interested parties so if you want in on the email list to know what's what and when going forward this season, pm me and I'll add you to "the club" . Looking forward to seeing some more faces at Sussex in two weeks.

Oh, I was so dying for somebody to hone in and reply to that post.....well done....

YES !!!!!!!!!!!! It's really happening !! We are officially starting the Swoop Club at Skydive Sussex. First training day is this Friday, May 23. We expect to start at 8 am and go till we can't go anymore. Hop and Pops are $18 to 4K and we have a 182 at our disposal that I'd like to run back to back The Canopy Piloting course is not yet set up, but I hope to have some 10' entry gates up for starters and set up the distance and accuracy lane for the next training Friday - (tba) Anyone looking to improve their canopy skills is welcome to come and join the club. The more experienced pilots will offer coaching and mentoring. It's all about improving our safety and skill levels as canopy pilots so come on out and support the new fledgling NE Canopy Piloting Club and Skydive Sussex who are making it possible. See you there! Skydive Sussex Route 639 Sussex NJ 07461 www.skydivesussex.com

FLCPA #4, Skydive Tallahassee who's going?
piahenzi replied to MikiBee's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
There was some very good flying, Mike. It was a very high scoring meet and very few verts. You'll see when the scores are posted. The dz vibe, weather, pilots, competitors were all in sync...it was a really terrific meet on every level. -

I can tell you that I made 12th.. :) Beek - 1st....just under 500 pts -
Thank you, Ian. It was by far my best performance, even if the scores don't reflect it...I was sufficiently happy that the insanity in trying to get home didn't even get to me... Anyway, I am hoping to build on this weekend's successes.... now what about that tree that needs taking down???
-
okay, I'll start... I am booked as of this morning (Despite spending 9+ hours in Charlotte trying to get home to NY from Tallahassee yday...).. you guys are worth it ! and I have to hit my goal of scoring in 4 rounds so what could possibly keep me away??

I can be there at 8 - whatever time load 1 will be - I will be there. SOMEBODY pls call me when this is decided as I wont have internet after today. My Palm cant handle this website. -
I will be using your design to set up the course at the NJ DZ once I have the go-ahead. I have already sent the GM the aerial and will hopefully be able to submit mine sometime later this season . We will see. Thanks for the inspiration you have given me. I'll be back to report as things progress.

exactly why I took my idea and searched for another DZ that would entertain it.... nothing wrong with that is there??? I am a business person and get the profit motive idea, at the same time, I also see that giving back to the customer base every now and then, is a great way to retain them.... just a thought.

I'm currently working with new management at a NJ DZ to incorporate HNP's and Swooping as a part of what they will offer when they get up and running as well as have a CPC course installed there full time for NE CPC pilots to practice. This is a recent development for me as my DZ no longer allows HNP at any price and were not interested in supporting this CP idea. I am hopeful that we will be able to get it done over time. The idea would be to have swoopers training and the newbies filling the planes with us so we can give back canopy piloting and traffic negotiating skills to the newbs - ie video and debrief each other with positive feedback etc. It's in its infancy stage but with some DZ help, I think we can do something worthwhile up here.
