  1. yes!! of course! there will be a 5 hour briefing before the meet on Saturday, to explain the new FAI scoring for all the rounds. See you at the pond at 3 AM. Don't be late!
  2. I don' t think he's the only one that sees a different motive in the agenda from the Obama team - perhaps not from capitalism to communism in 4 years, but certainly the road to a much more socialistic society.
  3. Tandem exit 2008. Laszlocam: Kodak V570...
  4. Just because the picture is small doesn't mean the star power is :-)... and yes, I know there's another thread for this already - since you *sighed* earlier I thought the JVX crowd needed a little representation and I had justthe thing...
  5. Since this turned into a different thread and the poor JVX guys haven't gotten any play, I am adding one I took of Shatalov in CO. I think it's pretty good. Sorry for the small res but you get the idea...
  6. AH! We can all guess how THAT enema-ed. ...errr. ended ... great shot!
  7. I lost alt awareness in CO - spent almost 2.5K getting them out and realized I never look at my alti the whole time.. and was approaching my hard deck when they finally came out ( it was flying straight at least) I wasn't terrified until I realized my altitude awareness was -0-.... THAT chop pictured was after the CO experience... sorry we wont see you in FL this year. Hopefully I can make it down to TX
  8. I always second guess whether I could have salvaged it... just didn't wanna cooperate...I lived, that's justification enough I guess.. Are we going to see you in Zhills???
  9. That kinda guy does absolutely nothing for me....I like mine "beefy":-) Would have loved to see the tandem vid..
  10. Sorry babe about the spelling! yeah, those line twists suck. I have it all on video too. I had a little more altitude to play with but it wasn't getting any better and we were soooo far out - made it back under the reserve (thanks PD!) and finished the Video. THEN went back and found it all...
  11. Tandem video and a Velo... lots of excitement...and not the good kind like Shaffer's happy swoops...
  12. What a load of shit. You know, before I married an alcoholic, I would have said the same thing... and I did for years - watching the drinking and sayin "just stop! that's all i it takes to fix things", but now I know better. Andy, wiht all due respect, you might want to soften your tone a little here.
  13. Ian, check out in Germany - www.lookma.de They have belts with cutaway systems. Will hold 8.9kgs total. The owner, Frank is great with customer service and they ship to the US no problem. If you have trouble navigating the site. I can pm you links to pics and descriptions. Pia
  14. I believe you are right....very sad, when you really think about it...
  15. I, for one, was never sold...didn't get the bumper sticker, didn't buy the t-shirt, didn't pull that lever... and I won't be ordering the commemorative plate either...but I will be paying for it..
  16. http://www.aa.org/bigbookonline/en_bigbook_chapt4.pdf This is the section to Agnostics from the Big Book...for those interested in going a bit closer to the source. (I'm sorry, I don't know how to make it a clicky)
  17. yeah, I thought so too! I quit while hubster still smoked so I definitely thought I was over it and done with it... not so it appears, and now he's done smoking and I'm still at it....*sigh*
  18. Keep it up!!!! I went 3.5 years smoke free and got sucked back in...Now it's been 2 years off the wagon and I just don't have the willpower to quit again...whatever you do, don't think you can have just one....
  19. It's God based and that's what makes it work for so many. That is for sure. I was uncomfortable with it myself when my husband went from staunch atheist to a fervent "born again" (He was not living with us during this transition). It was a difficult adjustment, but over the years, it has mellowed. I accepted it and the 12 steps and the tenets as written, because it worked for him (so far) and has kept him sober for over 12 years. The personal decision to accept God is just that, personal. The reasons for accepting God, especially when you've hit "bottom",and are really really ready to accept the alcoholic label, may be very different for a person than for someone who has not. As far as some accepting another "higher power" - no one that has been in our circle of recovered/ing for 10+ years has any other than God. AA, done "by the book", works as written in the strictest interpretation - this only from my perspective and experience but it's been a while now... I did not, however, find AlAnon to work for me, nor am I all that comfortable in the meetings I go to to present my husband his annual coin...but suck it up and I go, prayers and all.
  20. As the wife of a recovered/ing alcoholic of 12 years...who has sponsored many - I've seen rehab be a good start. - followed with an honest search for a good sponsor in AA. I can't believe that there is not ONE AA meeting that has real recovered /ing alcoholics that can help. You can always go to an Alanon meeting to get more information as well. If you want to talk more, pm me.
  21. I missed it on NPR but did see it on Hannity. I would have liked to hear the NPR panel. I hear you about Hannity. I can only take so much of the hype there and w/o sidekick "lefty", it can be almost unwatchable at times, but same goes for CNN's whiny drivel... so I have to switch back and forth. It's challenging to find "the truth" in amongst all the hyperbole, but I try.
  22. Gotcha!! You watched Hannity last night :-)
