  1. I'll be there on Sat Aubrey. Hey cool pic in Parachutist BTW.
  2. I spent a year in Vienna studying music hist and theory. My two favorite periods are Baroque and Classical. Can't stand contemporaries, they just sound too damn dissonant. For me it's a toss up between Motzart and Beethoven. The latter was pushing the envelope during his period. His piano playing was so far ahead of that era, he would literally snap the strings of the pianos he played on. Basically the insturments were not up to par to Beethoven. Like you said genius, pure genius.
  3. You have to love Mel. From the interview: "Playbill: When can we expect that? MB: Best case scenario: a week before the new Star Wars opens. Worst Case Scenario: a year after the new star wars opens." I amazed at his age after putting on The Producers on Broadway and LA he still has the energy to write and direct a movie.
  4. FYI: President Jimmy Carter (D) Georgia: 79 Days (over 1 term - 4 years) President Ronald Reagan (R) California: 335 days (over 2 terms - 8 years) President George H. W. Bush (R) Texas: 543 days (over 1 term - 4 years) President William J. Clinton (D) Arkansas: 152 days (over 2 terms - 8 years) President George W. Bush (R) Texas: 250 days (as of Aug. '03, ) Bottom line its good to be a politician.
  5. Just curious as to how they differ? Do skysurfers have a higher probablilty of certain mals? I'm intrested in Skysurfing too, but will wait till I have at least 200+ jumps before I approach one of the schools. Hey when are skyusrfers gonna compete at Nationals?
  6. After seeing that pic I say put it in. There was nothing offensive about it. But crozby has an excellent point. When the Columbine shooting occured some morons blamed Marlyn Manson and his music for school violence. Or how about the morons who picketed the NRA for holding the rally a few weeks after the shooting.
  7. Thanks. Cool site BTW. I'll ask my rigger next repack to pull out the reserve in front of me. I'm curious as to how it deploys, especially after seeing the pics of how you guys pack it.
  8. I did a search on this and all I came up with was reserve cycles. Anyway just curious as to what a Rigger does during the repack. Does he inspect the canopy, lines, containers as to air worthyness? Does the repack differ if the reserve has been deployed? Excuse the newbie question but just curious.
  9. It's all about the oil. The natural ones dont hydrogenate the oil, so the oil seperates from the solid matter. The main reason they hydrogenate the oil so it's solid at room temp. You dont get the separation you're talking about in the 'stir back in' ones. It's all about making it more appetizing to the masses.
  10. A former GF of mine worked in the industry here in Hwood, she use to use Visine to help hide blemishes for some shoots. It worked, but for about an hour or so. I dont know if it will work for hickeys, but give it a shot.
  11. I'm with you in Hobbes. As to babies, well all that crying, sniveling, fussing well thats all survival instincts. Like Tuna said thats the only way they know how to communicate if something is wrong.
  12. Wingsuits. t Excuse the stupid less than one year in this sport newbie question. But do you think someone will land a wingsuit in the near future? If so then is that the way this sport is heading, i.e., landing w/o a canopy.
  13. Yeah I know they need blood work for Accutane, but Accutane is for severe cycstic acne, which I dont have. This is what made me worry about this Doctor. Another MD I saw put me on antis and said I did not need Accutane. The Accutane treatment the first doc wanted me on wouldve cost between a couple hundred a month plus $100 for labs.
  14. It's a variety of issues. If I'm a Pharama comp I will not dump hundreds of millions of dollars on xyz pill only to give it away for pennies on the dollar. It's harsh I know, but if there isnt any profit in it why even persue researching it. Malpractice insurance is also an issue, but like in any profession there are some doctors out there who really dont care about patients, all they want is $$$$. Examples: the MD who left the surgury room to cash his paycheck, I went to a dermatologist for slight acne problem and he wanted to take blood tests and put me on Accutane. Obesity cost our health care system over $75 billion a year. It's a plethora of issues not just one culprit.
  15. Pledging will pretty much dominate your entire life. At my school it was a semester of it. I lasted three weeks, it just wasnt me. Too much BS cliquish only hang with us deal. Plus all I really had in common with them was that I liked to party and drink. Look at clubs at your school, I was on the surfing club and swim team. I had a blast with them too. Just an idea but how about starting a skydiving club? I wish my school wouldve had one when I went there.
  16. He graduated Yale with a 2.35 undergrad GPA, and got into Harvard . Most decent grad schools wont touch you with a GPA under a 3.0. I'm not saying he's dimwitted, but it just looks fishy doesnt it.
  17. I remember a few months or years ago when a new machine was introduced that could see through peoples clothes. Any thoughts on this? Intresting article on it here. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/3263343.stm
  18. Same here Same here. Too hard to tell on some of those, especially w/o seeing the Adams apple.
  19. From what I've read it Cheney's leaving payment when he left Haliburton. Rather than take a one time lump sum he spread it out over 5 years for tax reasons. Like Ron said its common in big business especaily for top level execs. He has about 8m in options which the profits will be donated to a charity. Cheney did some questionable things at Haliburton, main one being how the firm accounts for profits from contracts that are in dispute. Kindof sounds familiar to another firm huh?
  20. Highly unlikely. He's suffering from delusions of grandeur. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/3569552.stm He'll have a good time in a Kabul prison though, plus he'll get what he deserves. Theres a saying that when a bird flies over Afghanistan it does so with only one wing, the other is covering his ass.
  21. Sometimes I'm amazed our species even survived with everything, viruses and bacteria, thats out there. I also hope your friend gets better.
  22. We have no physical proof for a lot of ancient historical figures, do you doubt they existed. What proof do you need for Jesus? An engraved coin with his profile. His bones. Also Josephus was not a follower of Jesus so how could he slant his views? Secondly he only mentions Jesus twice. Once mentioning that 'james brother of christ' was stoned to death. Dont take the literal meaning of brother here since in those times brother could also mean cousin. The second time he mentions Jesus and his followers. Neither view seems slanted, just simple entrys from a historian. You're also questioning the word of one of the most prominent ancient historians. He was an advisor to Emperor Vespasian one of the few good emperors Rome ever had. Hell he had to bring stability to Rome after Nero.
  23. You cant look back 2000 plus years and say "show me proof." Look at the Roman world around the time of his death. 1. Jesus was not an important figure back then, sorry Christians he wasnt. He was not a Roman senator, nor a great general, so why write about him 2. Look at the way he was executed, like a common criminal, why write about a person who's executed like that. 4. He associated with the 'wrong' classes back then. Who wants to know about a poor Palestinian Jew. For historians of that era Jesus was just a 'speck' on the radar, not even worth mentioning. Dont take this as an attack on Christians, or Jesus. I'm just saying back then he was not important enough to write about.
