And Iraq did? What about Cuba, hell, they're only a couple miles from our shores, and they had the support and backing of the Soviet Union. Somehow we kept them contained without invading....well, errr, successfully. It took a near nuclear exchange with the Soviet....well, err. Yeah it did. We also had proof beyond a reasonable doubt that they were building silos for nukes. Still though Kennedy had some major brass balls to do what he did. --------

Box Office MoJo -- Fahrenheit 9/11 weekend winner

$21.8M in 800 screens and I bet you that movie cost less than 50 million to make. Yeah that was an aweful opening. Please, any hollywood exec would tell you that is a kick ass opening given the distribution. BFC cost 4m to make and took in 120m in ticket sales. You cant compare this movie to TR2 or LB2, please those movies dwarf this one on budget and marketing. Lets wait a few months then if you want to compare we will, my moneys on f9/11 gettin more bang for your buck than TR2 or LB2. Plus those movie opened nation wide. Note I used 'movie' not documentary. -
Yes the CIA does have video from 2000, shot from an UNarmed predator. Even if we knew where he was how do you sugest we get him. Push an button and bam a bomb comes outof no where. Tomahawks? Fighters? I'm sure the Pakis would be more than willing to let us use their airspace. Or maybe Iran would say "yeah sure go ahead. Fly cruise missels or jets in our airspace to go get a freedom fighter." It aint that simple. I remember when people were crucifing BC for the Sudan incident in 1998, What if in 2000 something along those lines wouldve happened while going after OBL. Hell you wouldve drawn and quartered BC. Most people wouldve said "who the hell is that 6'05" Arab and why is he so important" Dont look at the past with post 9/11 eyes. Dont say "if we got OBL in 2000 9/11 wouldnt have happened." It wouldve, it was already planned and the wheels were in motion. Pre USS Cole AQ tried the same tactic with another US warship, that attempt failed. It was years prior to the Cole and AQ learned what they did wrong. That's what makes them so freaking dangerous, theyre not a bunch of uneducated idiots, they learn and adapt.

msn It is ridiculous to compare the two. Obviously, Bush sent an army to Afghanistan to find him. Clinton knew where he was exactly. Clinton knew exactly where he was. He was in his compound in Afghanistan where he was known to live. They have video of him. He is 6'5, towers over his peers, walking in a group of bodyguards at his home. How much did all of his failures cost us? OK first off you make it seem like OBL was standing around scratching is arse waiting for BC to kill him. Do you have any idea how hard it was to get him? You make it seem like it was just "oh there he is, launch a cruise missle and thats it." By the time we "knew" where he was to when it reached the Pres it took several hours. Oh but wait we can launch fighters, who the hell would give us clearance over their airspace? The Pakis? Iran? OBL knows Afghanistan and the border region of Pakistan like the back of his hand. He has many sympathizers on both sides of the border. He and AQ have strong connections to the Intel deparment of Pakistan since the Pakis sympathized with the Taliban. It aint that simple, and it aint like Patriot Games. FYI look up EO 12947 and tell me BC didn't try. How many of you would have supported BC going into Afghanistan after the bombing of the USS Cole and before you answer look at when it happened.

I agree. Work, work, work, who wants to skydive? Be a good worker and stay late today, and go in on the weekend too. Are you on drugs for asking such a question, hell I would ditch and go jump
-
Don't bitch when terrorist Blind side you. Don't ask where the intel was. Can't have it both ways. Fine with me. Give our gov absolute power to do whatever they want. I'm sure they wont abuse that power. And when some gov official oversteps the line dont go bitching about "your" rights.

Viny, You're shocking your body into starvation mode. If what you put up is what you eat, hell your bods freaking out right now. You're doing more harm than good. Tell your friends wife to go see a nutrionist and talk to em. Crash diets like that never work.
-
I find it hard to believe that people can be that, whats the word, well just complete morons and so shallow. I hate reality shows and refuse to watch them, sometimes I wonder though. Are these people actually like that or are they acting and trying to get exposure.
-
WOW. Just out of curiosity whats the normal pull altitude when you guys fly the suit? I'm hooked on Good Stuff and all those bird suit flyers look like they are pulling pretty low.
-
Totally agree. I remember seeing Cypress Hill and then a few bands later Mighty Mighty Bosstons play. Talk about opposite sides of the music spectrum. 311 is miles ahead of all those other bands you mentioned.

Year 2 kicked ass: Red Hot Chili Peppers Ministry Ice Cube Soundgarden The Jesus And Mary Chain Pearl Jam Lush Temple Of The Dog. Chili Peppers are insane. I went to year 1, 2 and 1995. I do agree paying 100+ for tickets and getting a crapy seat is insane. When most events go corporate it screws things up big time. I remember the HOB here on Sunset pre corporate days. Man they had awesome bands play all the time. Now its a relive my younger days yuppie haven.

JP, Really sorry about your friend, and hope/pray for a good surgery and speedy recovery.

How much will one of those set you back?

Mostly chicks who think he has nice hair. Actually, when a poll was taken and women were asked if they would have sex with Clinton, 80% said "never again". Power is an aphrodesiac. The boss of my firm is as ugly as they come, talking short (5'02'), bald (mr.clean) aka mini me, arrogant and comes across as rude. But he's always with a gorgeous girl, (although they never wear heals), its the money and power that attracts both men and women. I bet you over half of that 80% would sleep with BC if he was still Pres and they met him at a dinner party or other such event.

Is shooting down a civilian plane legitimate?
Casurf1978 replied to nigel99's topic in Speakers Corner
That's just plain false. Ebola is highly contagious from the moment you contact it. I said chances are, did not deny how contagious it is. Also if you look at that graph, most if not all the cases contracted it while treating the sick patient or touching the dead body. But all that pseudo science about someone with Ebola or any hemoragic fever walking into a theatre coughing and spreading it is. As is some terrorist group getting a vial and dropping it in the middle of a NYC subway or altering the bug and making it airborne or able to survive outside the host for extend amounts of time. -
Is shooting down a civilian plane legitimate?
Casurf1978 replied to nigel99's topic in Speakers Corner
True, but symptoms usually don't start to occur for 4-16 days. Plenty of time to spread it. Very true, but most of the Ebola outbreaks occured deep in Africa and Ebola is most contagious during the final stages of infection when you start to liquify. If I get it right now and kiss my GF chances are she wont get it, I wouldnt want to volunteer for this experiment though. Here's a cool chart which traces the infection. Most transmission occured in the latter/final stages. http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/EID/vol9no11/03-0339-G.htm -
Is shooting down a civilian plane legitimate?
Casurf1978 replied to nigel99's topic in Speakers Corner
Really? Hmmmm, every source I have checked says it kills you between 8-17 days after it comes into contact with you. You are correct, but I shouldve been clearer. What keeps it contained to specefic parts, i.e., a certain village is that since it kills you so fast your ability to spread it is contained. Once you start getting symptons your mobility is very limited. They say it hits you like a ton of bricks, chills before you go to sleep and 8 hours later you cant move. As to it being airborne as a natural vector of transmission there is only one strain Ebola Reston, not the Zaire strain and it is only harmful (airborne strain) to monkeys. This was the strain found in Va back in the 1990s. The 1976 Zaire break out was so wide spread because missionaries were immunizing the locals with hypodermic needles that were not sterilized. -
Is shooting down a civilian plane legitimate?
Casurf1978 replied to nigel99's topic in Speakers Corner
First off, there are at least one terrorist group that has the Ebola Pathogen. Acquiring it would not be that too difficult. There are many countries that have Ebola. Not to mention most of these cells have very talented scientists and medical personel on payrolls. Which group? What strain? How do they contain it? How did they acquire it? I'm sure a hellof a lot of people at CDC and USAMRID would want to know how they handle it w/o special suits, labs, or training. I know that the Russian tried to weopnize it with small pox, as did we. Most of this is rumored, but no hard evidence was ever mentioned. Even experts doubt this (Russian success I mean). If we or the Russians did not succeed how can a terrorist group. The Japanese Aum (I think thats the name) group sent a few idiots to Zaire when there was an outbreak there. It's doubtful they even got with 100 miles of the village and obtaining a sample from an infected person w/o proper equipment is suicidal. Even with proper equipment it's very dangerous. It's a facinating field, if you want I can send you links to books and articles on these bugs. Those virus hunters, man they got some major steel cajones. -
Is shooting down a civilian plane legitimate?
Casurf1978 replied to nigel99's topic in Speakers Corner
You are way off the mark on that. Let's just leave it there. And it is one of the most fast-spreading Pathogens around. The fact that it spreads so quickly is why it is the most dangerous Pathogen on the planet. Just curious how a terrorist group can even get access to a level 4 pathogen? With three BSL 4 labs in the USA one at USAMRID, CDC and the other at San Antonio you just cant walk in and out. Also good luck trying to find the natural resevoir for Ebola or other such bugs. Chances are w/o proper training or equipment, youre going to die looking for them, that is if you can even find it to begin with. Ebola is one of the deadliest bugs on the planet, but it's lethality and virulence are what keep it contained. When an infection pops out in the middle of Africa, by the time the bug hunters get there the village has been whiped out. -

Casurf1978 replied to nigel99's topic in Speakers Corner
Ebola? Are you kidding? You have any idea how lethal and fast that bug is. The only reason it doesnt spread like wild fire is because it kills you before you even have the slightest chance or spreading it. Ebola is classified as a type 4 pathogen, Aids is type 2. No way in hell could a terrorist group get any type 4 pathogen like Ebola, Lassa or Marburg bugs. -

That's why we should allow pilots to carry, and give them a real door. Let the door protect the pilots, and the pilots protect the plane. Then, if it really comes down to it, let the fighters protect the rest of us from the plane. I thought most flight in the USA had bullet proof doors for the pilots?
