I gotta agree with you Kennedy, when I was in the Air Force, I used to get ill with a lot of the Graduates from the Air Force Accademy. Not the ones who realized they had a lot to learn and went about learning, the ones that swore they Maverrick, Iceman, and Goose. That believed that little butter bar on the shoulder gave them the right to talk down to those of us in the enlisted ranks. It would make you sick if you ever saw some of the shit these fuckers would get away with with little or no punishment, and quite often with the tax payers footing the damage bill. There are a few packing "tricks" for the Sabre 2. The first and foremost is "don't be too neat with it". Don't role the nose, just push it in the middle a little bit. make sure that you slider is quartered neatly (this is important), role the tail tightly, and shove tha fucker in the bag. I've always (400 jumps on Sabre II) double stowed my lines with long rubber bands, except fot the locking stowes and cascades. (I know some think this is wrong, but it works for me). I think it's more a matter of taste, (figuratively and literally). Of course there is a difference between a natural essence and a SMELL. This weekend kids. Mirage will be out at ASC in Cedartown with Demo gear, and the Otter will be flying $12.50 (that's right, plop down 50 quarters and your on) slots all weekend long. I'm not all too clear on who is doing what as far as coaching/ organizing, but there is an open bar at the end of the day, and isn't that what really matters. There is a $15 registration fee, but what the hell it's only money. There is also an zone accuracy lane set up on the pond for all you swoopers. WHat a weekend, THAT was the shiznittle. My hair hurts from Saturday night, and my mind is blown from all the kick ass skydives. It was great to meet (re-meet), and jump with the Pink Mafia Girlz, and other jumpers from out of state whom I hadn't seen in a while. The best "sick call" in my experience, is to announce your going for sea food or sushi Thursday night for dinner, (Red Lobster or Joes Crab Shack are my favorites for this) call in sick with "food/stomach disagreement" issues. No one wants to hear any details, and no one will ask how you're feeling when you get back. Mild food poisoning can be your friend. This is my plan for Sunday.
