Vertical Wind Tunnel in North Carolina
Bodyflight.Net replied to Bodyflight.Net's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I just got back from celebrating the Birthday of a tunnelrat friend at the North Carolina tunnel, and I'm telling you it was awesome!!! There was Wes Evans (Happy B-Day), Keith Kimbrough, John & myself.. we were able to fly 4 shoulder to shoulder, and we worked on a couple of other formations where we were stacked on top of one another etc. I got in 35 minutes today and I'm going back on Saturday and I CAN'T WAIT!! I should have pictures of it all in a week or so, I'll be sure to post a couple!!!! -
Me Neither!!! Gymnastics is my thing! Thanks for speaking your mind!

I'm so sorry.

As an ex competitive gymnast, I can say with passion that Aleksei did not deserve a medal. He made 2 crucial mistakes and his score was dropped accordingly.. even after 10 minutes of an unruly crowd, Hamm got up there and did his thing beautifully, with only 1 mistake. Now THAT is talent. The Italian made 1 mistake and performed original stunts that scored well. The only thing I was unimpressed with was Aleksei obviously revving up the crowd in his favor. I was delighted to see he and they were NOT rewarded highly.. even after Re-Scoring he still didn't cut the mustard. GO USA!

I'm voting Badnarik for several reasons but mainly it is the Libertarian standpoint on Medical Marijuana and the "War on Drugs" It's about time some of the lies are corrected, the truth is told and these governmental hipocrits are dealt with!!!! If you want to know why else I'm voting for him.. take a look at the Issues http://www.badnarik.org/Issues/

I'm torn too..but I think he should keep the gold until such time that the Olympic head honchos think he shouldn't. These games represent many more things than just a score or rank, each country is responsible for "game" play and there are protocols to follow.. Sometimes in life we are rewarded for simply following rules and not by performance... This must be one for the "Gods of Karma"

one who stands in front of the fridge with the door open and shouts "Honey, where's the Milk?" one who only wears a "certain" type of 'expensive' jeans because they feel better than cheap ones. Oh yeah, and the one who doesn't want YOU to go out and have fun because he doesn't feel like going with! just off the top of my head!

A photo of "Hot Joe" and MY hubby I found while making our WFFC 04 Page... thought you might appreciate it...

oddly enough I have found it to be my biggest character asset as well.. total brutal honesty (I just don't find it acceptable to sugar coat the truth)

I'll have you know that we didn't use ONE trash can the entire time we were there I'm assuming you didn't have to empty dumpsters! Thanks for all the hard work, sorry you didn't get to jump more... next year, everyone throw your trash in the dumpsters... save the Rev!

I wasn't going to contribute but since you said that... The new showers were awful, I know the effort was in the right place, but I certainly won't be using them. Bring back the portables!!! Porta-poddies as mentioned were far and few between ( and if you DO camp out past Rick & Rick I hope you don't expect to use one, oh and bring a weed eater too, and plan to have holes in your tent floor) As a Vendor/Staff we weren't even approached about contributing to the Welcome packets, not sure why I didn't think of it myself though.. but that could help make the goodie bag more fun Soda was certainly difficult to find, too difficult A water hose or spigot should be available to those of us in Tent City Tent city motor curfew SHOULD be enforced by removing the keys from the possession of the violator till morning. and yes and Events Board or something at Manifest would be extremely useful to keep track of the days events.. I love going but it does seem that each year things are getting less convenient. We need more attendees... Where was everybody this year?????

I wasn't keen on 50 first dates.. not as funny as I hoped and kinda slow, but I don't usually like the chick flick kinda movie... I actually LOVE finding Nemo.. after the first 15 min or so it's pretty hilarious.. I saw Duplex, another Drew movie... pretty good not ha ha funny though... I saw a good alien invastion type movie not too long ago.. Mel Gibson, family on a farm, crop circles... totally freaky!!! Anyone know the name.. got my heart pumpin for sure!!

Every experience is what you make of it, if you have a bad one here, take a good look at your contribution to the situation. This DZ is great, freefly coaches and canopy coaches are everywhere, and nearly everyone is friendly. Outsiders are always welcome here with a smile. You can walk up to anyone and start a conversation. This is one big family here always with room to expand. Skydive DeLand has it all, for every level. This is a place where you can walk up to any 'skydiving' legend, and they are more than happy to visit with you and share their jumping experiences.

Inconstistant rules makes a dog behave badly. I think it's the same with children. I remember when I was young my friend and I were riding in the car with my mom and I asked her if I could spend the night at my friend's place. She said no and my friend said, "ask her again". I was like, "WTF would asking her again do? She already said no." Apparently some parents will change their minds if you nag them enough, mine never would though. But on the flip side I never had silly rules either. I had friends in their teens who couldn't go out because they had gone out the night before? What the hell kind of rule is that? I second this notion. I was "one of the friends" and I try to raise my child like you were.. I explain my reasons for rules, and she certainly respects them, even if she has trouble disciplining herself to follow them. She knows asking repeatedly is useless, however it seems that none of her friends get the benefit of such stability. I think that if you respect them and their needs they will in the end return the respect... even if along the way the 'road gets bumpy'.

I'm SO sorry. I never drink and drive, and I never stop trying to prevent people from doing it. I've lost so many people to alcohol/drunk driving.. it's just not worth it.
