Honestly, with all the things I do, I hardly have time to learn anything new.. My phpMyadmin/mysql experience was bad, it kept crashing the kernel and I'd have to kill the kernal, then restart mysqld... etc.. it wasn't stable at all..gave my a bad taste for anyting non traditional There have been times I was curious about it since, I guess I'll keep you in mind for next time... U'r not ranting... u'r explaining!

I am my hosting company (VPS) (how many people get to say that!!) I have worked with mysql & php on many occasions with large databases for overnight rentals. I have not been impressed with the function on any level that we have used it. In fact eventually we took 300 cabins and put them back to static pages and for our purpose it's been much better. Thanks for the tip, if our board ever got popular, I may need to do that but I try to stay away from anything more complicated than I am

I've spent the last couple of days installing 2 of these e-blah forums. They are awesome, and did I mention FREE? Written by a teen sometime ago in Perl, this flatfile forum it tidy and good. I've disconnected our old Bravenet forum (bravenet rocks too for webmaster freebies) and have the new one ready to go. I'd love some feedback on it from you Forum experts ... see if others think it's as cool as I do. It has awesome features like the recommend button at the bottom of each post so you can send a link directly to that post to a friend, plus many other features. Love to know what you think of it.. Symbolism of your current (or future) tattoo or piercing
Bodyflight.Net replied to Daizey's topic in The Bonfire
I have 2 tats currently. One is an eagle, in full flare, about to land the other is a single feather, dropped by the eagle a few inches away. The eagle is my husband who's nickname is Soaring Eagle. The feather is my daughter who's nickname is Little Wing. If I have another child, another feather will be added. -
I'm guessing most won't know it but "Sleepwalk" by Santo & Johney circa 1950's... if you want a clue, you can hear it on two movie soundtracks, La Bamba & Sleepwalkers... it's all guitar/instrumental and one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life.

It's called Quisp (not sure about spelling) but it's awesome, an oldy so it's hard to find. Had a little alien on the box, crispy corn shaped "flying saucers". Basically cap'n crunch in a less MOUTH TEARING format. There's a modern knock-off sold in the bag, close, but not the same.

Hi Angela, I used to aspire to high jump numbers, but not anymore. I'm the inquisitive type, I listen intently and retain most everything. What I've heard from most of the people who are "pushing" themselves, is that in order for it to be good, they have to KEEP pushing themselves. I mean, it's like, the joy has been sucked out of it for some, which makes me sad I know it's beautiful and I know they know it's beautiful but all the pressure, and drama and well frankly the responsibility of it all, and then to push the limits, more, and more and more, because at some point, just jumping out of a plane isn't exciting enough.. you need more... I don't want that to happen to me, and so now I aspire to stay current, stay involved but jump when the passion moves me. I take alot of grief for it from some, but for those who I respect and who LOVE the experience, they understand and support me fully. Life is a series of hills and valleys, you will find yourself ontop of the peak again soon.

Search Engines! How do you get the best results for your business?
Bodyflight.Net replied to clint's topic in The Bonfire
Google adwords is a great program, I am an affiliate webmaster for them, and they have great results with targeted traffic. They also have several systems in place for click tracking so no extra clicks are counted, as well as having a variety of programs to limit your daily/weekly or monthly spending to keep you in your budget. Happy to tell more if anyone is interested. -
Search Engines! How do you get the best results for your business?
Bodyflight.Net replied to clint's topic in The Bonfire
Search Engine Marketing (my specialty since 1998) all but a couple of my clients get first page placement for their particular clients. As you know I offer a service that provides detailed how to's setup for your website and market, but for everyone else's sake I'll give you the general how to. First thing to know, it's not easy. It will take quite a bit of effort on your part, which is why I'm in business, most business owners don't have the time to bother. Now. If you want GOOD QUALITY search engine traffic, there are many techniques, but mine are all based on the "honesty is the best policy" First thing, Know Your Market Utilize Search Term Suggestion Tools or WorldTracker to find out what keywords your audience is using to search for your business and similar businesses. Find a way to incorporate these ranked wordes within your alternate image tags, meta tags and body of your page. Meta Tags are varied and you can find a variety of formats everywhere. It's best to announce yourself completely to the spiders and a good meta tag tells them when to return, what type of content inside, and also provides them with accurate keyword filled page titles and content descriptions that pertain to your target audience. I do Search Engine Submissions in two categories Free Submit & Paid Inclusion Engines. The free submit engines like google & dmoz, etc... require time & patience for placement, having a good reputation with submissions also helps when placing a site (something I've gained in the last 5 years) You must accurately describe your business, and adhere to EACH of their terms of service & policies.. this is where major reading will come into play for you since you don't already know. IF your website is up to snuff and they don't have much info on your topic, you will be included more quickly. You will also be included more quickly if you are HOSTED on a server that is spidered more often. For instance, googlebot visits my server daily, and does a main database refresh monthly. This means, sites on my service with quality content who meet the criteria are included rapidly into the index. If you are on a service that is not visited often you will have to wait the standard 6-8 weeks for a visit from the spider. If you watch your server logs you will see when it visits. The paid inclusion engines (altavista, inktomi(feeds to yahoo) ask.com, lycos, msn.com etc... are also easy to do but you must again, abide by each one's rules & regulations to qualify, and then sign up as a member open your account and submit your information. The cost of the whole shebang is about $150 when you total each engine annually (I usually charge an extra bit for the time it takes to setup my clients and submit their info which is a couple of hours) The whole SKILL to the thing is to KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE, and also to think a little bit bigger. There are ways to get on engines good sides, and ways to get on their bad side. For instance, if you reside on the same server (with shared hosting this happens often)as a banned IP address, meaning someone else on the same computer as you has been bad and google doesn't go there anymore, that means bad news for you. This is something you look at after you've done what you can, and it's still not working. There are countless other ways to drive traffic to your site, and improve search engine ranking or inclusion, some low cost some not. I couldn't even begin to go into everything here but so everyone knows I DO NOT RECOMMEND, paying Yahoo for their annual paid inclusion as their are much cheaper ways to get in their results without costing you 300 bucks for the year. Well, maybe I've shed some light on the process... locate all the search engines, do your homework, follow all the rules, and stay on top of it. Don't do anything wrong and you should be ok. The Search engines have transitioned so much over the last few years, with so many scammers out there trying to cheat, they have had to be hard on many and curt to few but when you choose to do things honestly you cannot go wrong. I live online all day long, this is all I do, I've handled over 300 successfull accounts in the last 5 years, so I believe I know what I'm talkin about! If I don't hear from you again, good luck with the new season! -
No I would not sue the DZ in anyway for this, this would be petty, I do know "acceptable risks" and that of course is one of them. HOWEVER, like Kallend and a couple of others, if the situation involves mechanical error, or pilot error and results in death, disfigurement, or a life as a vegetable, sure as shit I would sue. I did not accept the risks of a drunk pilot, a dz cutting corners on maintenence or machinery, pencil packing my rented reserve or anything else beyond my ability to verify it's soundness or working condition. Can't remember the last time I interviewed a pilot before boarding or inspected the plane to know if it's was up to snuff! My biggest fear when skydiving is the airplane ride.

Anybody know how a strictly flash website records server log info? It doesn't seem like you can get any information out of those sites on the client end.. how do they know which pages are most popular, or click through patterns? If anyone knows, I'd love to be in the loop on that one, that's currently my reason for discouraging flash sites (not that using flash elements are bad). -

Hi, I've seen posts like this but they are OLD, and well, the www changes all the time. I'm taking on a new dz client (who will go unnamed) and wanted to know your thoughts about how a DZ website should look & function... what do you expect to see and what would you hope to see. I'm sure the other web guru's here will find this insightful as well. Thanks in advance! -

I know I'm behind here, but I've had a busy week updating sites, etc.. anyway, I've been trying to understand "Freeflying" myself, and I'll tell you, it's not what I thought it was for sure. I think the idea is right, but in practice it goes out the window. I've spent hours drilling coaches on their ideas and concepts and what I've come to understand is that they do "want" to free fly (so to speak) but refrain for safety sake. For instance this "corking" word I hear so often, this is a problem with free flying in groups, and basically they would free fly, meaning transition in many ways and fly with the wind, but then no one knows what anyone else is doing and therefore presents another element of danger. This is why the Freeflying I hear so much about it strictly Vertical. The believers that Freeflying is Vertical also believe that what you and I are talking about is Freestyle. This issue always puzzles me because in the tunnel we have always learned how to fly with people, match fall rates, etc..so when I jump with other people, we do freefly, about 10 feet apart never entering eachother's space, all transitions and match speed no problem, yes some standing, and some sitting, etc.. I haven't had cause to worry because I trust the people I'm flying with. But without LOTS of time flying with someone it's hard to PREDICT their movements, rendering group freeflying pretty unsafe. I think the curriculum tends to be good, although I'm a believer in sit flying over belly to earth, that's always my recovery position in freefall. I've also noticed that people "freefly" in my definition more when they jump solo, I suppose that's the safety issue there, no one else to worry about what they are doing. Perhaps I just rambled, but I get what you mean, I think it's sad to see people stuck on their heads, but hey if that's the way they can do it safely then so be it!! I had this realization just a few days ago really and promptly changed my profile from Freefly to Freestyle as it more accurately describes my skydiving style.
