Just want to eliminate the confustion. To everyone in general 1. This is NOT the tunnel we brought to the convention last year, that was Lifted Entertainment. 2. This tunnel was built near Greensburg and spent a few months of the final testing stages there called Jus' Fly. 3. This IS the tunnel we are bringing to the convention this year. 4. It's named Adren-L-N and has been in Houston for several months now (Conroe) If you need info use the link previously posted to their page at the Network

Would you use a wind tunnel in Raeford, North Carolina

That information is available to interested buyers. You did find contact information on the site. There is no selling on DZ.com forums so I am walking a fine line here... -
Would you use a wind tunnel in Raeford, North Carolina
Bodyflight.Net replied to ParacleteAero's topic in Wind Tunnels
It's in Western part of the state just off the interstate, near Cataloochi Ski Resort. It IS NOT open yet, and there is no projected date for opening. This is the prototype facility and other's like it will be built. AT SOME POINT in the near future it will be operational to some degree which we have not decided on yet. We hope to initiate it's Grand Opening with a world wide audience and party!! It can accommodate several hundred. It was built to demonstrate that a wind tunnel can be efficient, safe and quiet all at the same time. -

Bodyflight.Net replied to ParacleteAero's topic in Wind Tunnels
It utilizes a different design concept altogether and doesn't work like the other tunnels you've seen. This tunnel is QUIET. We know everything about the design and you could do some clicking around in our sites and find out more. -
This SUNDAY! BASE and Skydiving on Discovery!
Bodyflight.Net replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
Fell like a brick no doubt... I thought the same thing, but sometimes my perspective is skewed. I've seen Joe's stuff but never a Bond fan really, but the other day, I saw one of his movies, he jumped and pulled in some sort of bubble that he landed in, I thought, how awesome is that! Personally, I can't wait until the first wingsuit flyer lands himself without a parachute. That will be a great day!! and Phree, I've noticed that your so helpful & informative on these forums... thanks! -

We aren't usually able to get the word out far enough in advance so I wanted to start early this time. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/calendar/display.cgi?action=detail&EventNumber=11727 -
This SUNDAY! BASE and Skydiving on Discovery!
Bodyflight.Net replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
I caught it on the re-run at midnight.. AWESOME, I've always dreamed of Ski/Base as they called it...but the best was the parachute ride down the ski slope, I wanna do that too... Just got a brand new pair of HEADs and that seems an awesome way to break them in!! Thanks for the heads up on the show!! Anyone else wonder why he kept diving AWAY from the plane to dock with it? -
maybe you could relate it to weight, in the extremes a brick will fall faster than a feather.. heavier person/more gear logically would fall faster, assuming no effort.. right?

New Jersey Wind Tunnel???
Bodyflight.Net replied to jumpingjoe's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
We made contact with the Zero Gravity tunnel on January 21st. They, as arlo confirmed, are waiting on the Xarena park to begin construction. They are hopeful to make it by this fall. -

Bodyflight.Net replied to ParacleteAero's topic in Wind Tunnels
Hey there, I have to put my two cents in of course. I think there is plenty of market to go around, I have been running this industry site for several years, there are millions upon millions of dollars spent every year on wind tunnel flights limited only by availability. I don't think that until there is a wind tunnel in every state, will we have to worry about saturation, and skydivers are by no means the only source of income potential, as previously stated. Currently the only problem facing owners is the limited income potential, but if you do your research I believe you'll make a good decision and have plenty of interest in your area. -
I know I'll be shunned by the *real* coffee drinkers but I HAVE TO HAVE Folgers Cafe Latte in Mocha Fusion. It's hot, light on the acid, plenty of caffeine and hey it's chocolate, yummy creamy chocolate especially when you add a bit of milk!! Did I mention how yummy it is?

Here's Bria, but a bit brighter!!! Very cute by the way, I love black cats! We have two in the house and we love them, they aren't so fond of eachother though!!!

I feel for you! I work everyday, weekends are not sacred, in fact if my daughter didn't go to school monday-friday I wouldn't know the difference between weeks and weekends... the curse of owning your own businesses. hang in there!

My favorite was Pepsi's Kids Busted for Downloading Music. It's poetic justice I say!!! Didn't watch the superbowl..caught them all on Ifilm this morning.

Here Here I say! I will be 39 when our youngest turns 18, and I couldn't agree more. Although I was too young really to start, I can't think of a better way than to grow up with them. It really helps to bridge the gaps I've seen in so many parent/child relationships. She knows I'm learning too, and we're not perfect, she also has learned many values that I believe she wouldn't have gotten if we had "plenty of money" I think that the flip side is stability as you get older with finances etc, but hey, I say.. stable isn't always fun!

Dare I say, no? Fortunately, most of the folks we hang with aren't serious about that part... although I DID drink a beer after my first AFF.. they wouldn't let me get away without it. It's not that we're above it, and there aren't any medical reasons... just simply for me it's a serious issue. I drink when I have no responsibilities to fulfill. I own 3 businesses, am raising a 9 year old and well, don't have much free time. Besides, if I drank... who would drive our friends home??? Hubby doesn't drink cuz he's seen so much pain from it. That said, we do enjoy the occasional safety meeting. There is one exception to this rule... at the WFFC (where you can sometimes find me with JelloShots or a Tequila Sour), when I don't have to drive, my daughter is in my sisters care and I don't have any obligations. We don't often skydive there (wierd I know) because we take care of the wind tunnel every year. But also, I can't imagine the mistakes made by hungover jumpers... that's another thread all together for sure though!! Usually when someone says I owe beer, I say.. "I'll buy ALL THE FREE beer you can drink at the WFFC, so see you there!" yes I know the beer is free there
-
It is often hard to explain my tall cold glass of DIET PEPSI and yes they look at me crazy sometimes. Some of my closest friends are drinkers... I don't mind, I spend a great deal of the time worrying about them and driving whomever I can home. My husband is the same way, he will often drive their car for them while I follow in ours. Seems logical since the biggest defense for driving home drunk is that they will need their car in the morning. We no longer accept that excuse. I'd like to think that even if I feel I'm out of place, at least I'm doing something with it and creating a very important place for me to be.. keeping people alive the only way I know how in that situation. It's always wierd when I owe a case of beer, I mean, heck, in my world, it's a case of cold pepsi.. Lets start S.A.D.D. Skydivers against drunk driving...
-
I was with you in spirit on that drive for sure.. Drove SEVERAL TIMES... Los Angeles I-10 all the way to Louisiana... and yes TEXAS IS TOO LONG> What kind of state goes 200 miles in between gas stations and rest rooms. I was so ready to get there, I didn't stop from El Paso to Houston except for gas.. man that was a trek!!! Ya know what always got me.. the radio. I'd set it in say, Tomoka Joes truck stop (in AZ) then somewhere after El Paso it wouldn't work, then somewhere around San Antonia the radio woud just start playing again... all those hours of silence and no radio then all of a sudden... used to make me jump EVERY time.

Shark.... you are awesome! Thank you everyone for your opinions here... I am very relieved to see that MOST of you would welcome part timers and fair weather skydivers with open (but maybe cautious) arms. My personal experience is... my first 17 jumps all in the first 2 months. Then I moved away from DeLand to the Smokies where there is no jumping. I made a few recurrency jumps here and there, then we moved back to Florida again recently. 2 months ago we got here, I have made 5 jumps since then (one recurrency and the rest hopnpops, but am truly unable to do more. I think some would have me just hang up my rig, but every since 4th grade I have wanted to skydive. I shall share with you something I wrote which captures my thoughts perfectly: Taming the Dream by Dawn Suiter edited for dz.com I used to have these dreams when I was young about being able to soar in the sky like a bird, of course inevitably even in my dreams I always had to come back down. Some friends have mentioned over the years that controlling your dreams is a matter of having a waking dream, a concept I never have mastered. Instead, I made my dreams a reality and joined the rest of the enlightened world and learned how to fly! I am a wind tunnel flyer AND a skydiver and I can SOAR now, not in a waking dream but in my life, in my reality. History shows us that this great mystery of man and his ability to rise above life's challenges and conquer, is simply the way we are. Defiance is sometimes mistaken for determination, and above all else as individuals, we are determined. Determined to succeed in my life, I found myself thinking of those who dreamed before me; Aristotle, Da Vinci, Prandtl, the Wright Brothers. These people knew that a dream could be a reality if only there was enough determination, and what they have ALL proved in their passing is that yes, we as human beings CAN realize our dreams no matter how outlandish they seem, and that only a little self determination and empowerment can equal limitless possibilities. So what is my dream now? Well, I unlike my afore mentioned counterparts am not a great painter, engineer or aerodynamicist, I am simply me. The me I choose to be, and no one, no matter how hard they try, could ever fill my shoes. I spread my arms wide and embrace the wind, my confidant and my vice because without it there would be no dream. Mother Nature is the inventor and I am simply the connoisseur of her great creation. Therefore it is not really a dream but something completely attainable to anyone human with the desire and determination to get it, and achieve it. Like the great bird of prey I manipulate wind gusts and cloud ceilings from time to time, while my aerial view stretches for miles and I consume the beauty, and the passion that belongs only to me in this minute of my life. Memories last forever, but experiences change your life. I am someone new, as if my rebirth came when I learned how to stretch my wings and let go. To let go of tangible things. In flight the problems of yesterday are gone; absent from your mind. Release from endless boundaries and restrictions used to facilitate cohabitation and goodwill among men. Relentless stresses of career, family and personal achievement simply melt away when I stretch out and submit to my dreams. Inner peace comes with brutal self honesty and the satisfaction in knowing that you are the best that you can be.

You know you're a skydiver when....
Bodyflight.Net replied to Chizazz's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I was out the other day, can't remember where... I heard a loud noise, something like a large engine, and instead of looking behind me, my first instinct was to look UP and search the sky!
