  1. Can you imagine the mess if he had tried to land himself, even with radio contact, maybe worse with radio contact, and he had hurt himself. No thank you. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  2. Seems to me the BSR and FAR and SIM take precedence don't they? I am not a fan of either president Bush but I have defended the tandem based on the conditions I have heard reported here. Damned Democrat whuffos! "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  3. Damn your foreigners for not understanding our subtle ways of combating terrorism by making it increase so later we can claim a decrease when it drops to 90% of what it was after the increase. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  4. I just put a deposit down on a seminar and I want to hear from people who have been there. I have 45 jumps and have just really started worrying about what happens after I open the canopy. I have been working on flat turns and have some questions there. Started playing with my risers the last few jumps and have already done wonders for my accuracy. I know I will learn a lot during this class but just want some feel of what it will be about. Please don't just chime in with it being worht the money or it being cool. I already expect that! "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  5. I only have 45 jumps but the first exit was 26 years ago and I didn't hear a thing. Standing on the wheel and hanging on the strut had all my attention. But when he smacked me on the ass and I let go it was very cool! "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  6. No negative reflection on those jumping with him but why does it take one TM, two AFF and a guy with smoke, not to mention the camera guy (at least I understand why he is there) to make this jump? I know originally it was to be an AFF jump and winds/clouds got in the way. Did the AFF instructors get to go along as compensation? "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  7. With the history you describe you deserve to call your self a skydiver even if you never jump again. Frankly even if you make a specific decision to never jump again because that decision will be for good reasons. Not to mention that I suspect you would not call your self a skydiver but you would say "I have been a skydiver." Of course none of this is "important" in our day to day lives but I really feel it does something for us internally. This is a small club. I just recently got SCUBA certified and people think that is so cool. There are something like 100 thousand SCUBA INSTRUCTORS in the US. We have about a third of that as MEMBERS of USPA. 8. Only if you intend to do it again. I did four jumps (Sport SL) in '78-'79 and didn't go again until 2003. I never claimed to be a skydiver, only that I had jumped. Now I am a skydiver because I go on a regular basis and plan on going again. By intend to do it again I mean you have not said to your self "I ain't doin' that again." Which is what the subject of this thread seems to have said. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  9. Stopped by the DZ and put a deposit down on a Brian Germaine canopy control class! "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  10. Let us hope his team succeeds. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  11. And when did we demonstrate that Iraq was planning or executing terrorist attacks against the US? When I was in USAF basic training and Tech. School I remember both Iraqi and Iranian officers being there. A regular occurrence at Lackland was shots being fired between their dormitories. This was when we thought both sides were our friends. Of course in that line your sig. says it all doesn't it? Amazing how that sentiment can come back to bite you in the ass. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  12. So then why do we have stop-loss and involuntary extensions of people in Iraq and Afghanistan? "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  13. Then tunaplanet said So if North Korea were to invade South Korea as a pre-emptive measure to prevent it assisting us in an invasion of North Korea that would be justifiable. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  14. I pack my 210 rental gear most of the time and can still jump five or more times in a day. Of course I get there for the first load in the morning and leave after beer. I can usually get it packed in under 30 minutes too. Now it is not a new slick canopy for sure so that helps but I still feel like I am stuffing 10lbs of shit in a 5lb bag. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  15. Clearly if the plane fails to stay on its path and ignores orders from the military aircraft it would become a target and any country would have a hard time arguing about it. Part of what the escort does is form a deterent to any hijacker on board who would then know that in the current environment he/she is not going to get away with anything other than downing the aircraft it self which would not have the intended shock value these days. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  16. With luck this is one more thing that will turn the few undecideds and moderate Republicans away from Bush. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  17. He should for all the reasons listed but he won't since Dick is part of the brain trust really running the country with W sitting out front as the puppet. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  18. Thanks. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  19. Sorry! "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  20. You do know the Washington Times is owned by Rev. Sun Myung Moon leader of the Unification Church don't you? Hard core right wing and not afraid to make the news more interesting than it might be if it serves a cause. Do a search on Rev. Moon and George Bush and see what you come up with. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  21. How about including the entire article. Notice the very precise three and four hour windows. End of conspiracy theory. Here is the clicky too. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  22. My point was that only a few electoral votes seperated him from victory. Tennesse is not exactly swimming in electoral votes either. It is being argued that ONLY the large population centers matter and I say that is not true. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  23. I have heard you say this several times and I wonder what you base it on. Not disputing what you say just curious as to the source. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  24. New Hampshire made the difference in the 2000 election because Nader stopped Gore from getting the electoral votes. Not a big population center at all. No electoral college in 2000 would also have meant a Gore win. If it was the population centers that controlled it then he should still have lost. Drop the college let the people vote. Landslides will still be landslides but close votes will still reflect the will of the entire country. Also electoral landslides can happen even in a close popular vote. It would be harder for a president to claim a mandate when he/she only won by a few percentage points in the popular vote. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
  25. So very true. We added on all of this wonderful new security at huge expense and yet we supposedly have seven known terrorist roaming the country. Presumably they came in since 9/11. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes
