Never mind, I re-read and I supposeit is third hand but... If your read the book about Karl Rove (Bush's Brain) there are accounts that make this plausible. The sad thing is that GWB is not really the problem. Rove and his picture of the Republican party backed up by Ashcroft, Cheney, Rumsfeld and the rest is the real problem. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes

... It was only a week ago that the VP told a Senator to perform sexual activity on himself. What's with these guys? Are they losing it? We can only hope. "Truth is tough. Actually those of us who pay the ticket really make the rules. If you want a cavity search to make you feel comfortable before flying then fly the airline that insists on it. Frankly I'll take the carrier that is looking for more overt signs of trouble. From what I can tell about the story everyone in a position to be able to do anything did just what they should and a flight attendant did more than she should have thus spreading panic. Don't you think that terrorists know that purchasing one way tickets is considered suspicious? Does anyone know what type of tickets the 9/11 crew had. I don't so they may have been one way for all I know but I bet they won't be in the future. Face it folks the next attack will come from a completely different angle. "Truth is tough. Because you have a clearly spankable backside Because you are not there. Who cares? Don't know, only saw it after you deleted the post. All of them. She answered that. No Clue. "Truth is tough. At 75 my Grandmother told me she was on borrowed time. She lived to 101 and was in good shape until about 99. At 95 it dawned on her that the doctors advice about not drinking was BS. Lets face it how much could it shorten her life even if she was a lush, which she was not. You just never know how long the whole thing will hold out. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes

Back in the day while in England in the USAF I went to the credit union when it opened to cash a $500.00 check. They couldn't do it because they hadn't been to the bank yet to pickup their cash.

Bigger avatar, hell she deserves her own forum, well I guess she could share with vanillaskygirl, chaoskitty, and a large group of other dz.com lovelies whose names I can't recall at the moment, damned alcohol. Didn't mean to imply they should only to state that a "short" repack cycle had nothing to do with trying to provide income for riggers. "Truth is tough. Was there a plan before you boarded the aircraft? Did you dirt dive it? If yes then the other jumper holds the blame. If no then you both do. edit to fix typo "Truth is tough. There is no way in the world the repack cycle was set to provide riggers with income. Someone somewhere decided that is how often they should be checked for safety reasons and that is the number they came up with. The bureaucrats don't give a darn about riggers income. It started after WWII when we got in bed with the Saudi's and every administration since has enjoyed that relationship so we ignore the middle east. I was in intel at one time and I find it hard to believe that even if all we were relying on was satellite imagery that we would have believed what we believed unless SH was intentionally trying to fool us into believing it by setting up mock missles, labs, etc. The other source of intel we believed were a large group of Iraqi expatriates who were telling this administration exactly what it wanted to hear so they ignored evidence to the contrary. What I was responding to was this quote from your original post. All I was saying is that NEITHER party can claim moral high ground. Assuming this report is true it is bad. I have no reason to believe it isn't true. But if you really want to see that the shoe fits on both feet then go here "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes

So I looked and it is amazing how many hits that brings back but the only thread accusing him of it is here and it indicats that it was Lewis Carroll. They were unsure if C.S. Lewis's sexuality. No it was not about an affair it was about taking his wife to sex clubs and wanting her to have sex with him in front of other people. I am not defending the fund raising thing just pointing out, as others have said, neither major party can easily claim moral high ground if you look at the actions of individuals in the parties. Stop trying to read to much in to what people say. "Truth is tough. Sseems to me that this indicates that you can't just walk away. And just what defines "reasonable suspicion?" Wrong person in wrong neighborhood? "Truth is tough. Hell yes. (A) People in suits commit crimes too and (B) he's a likely target for a crime - that thing cops are supposed to prevent. Good for you too. Like Ron you are at least consistent in your application. May be going on which is why a cop needs a better reason. ...Oh, and since when are gay neighborhoods all that territorial? Would a "seemingly" straight couple look out of place there? The gay scenario was just an effort to point out when do you stop. Plus see the possible scenario I gave Ron above. I agree but they have to get out of the damned cars and walk the streets and get to know people not just stop and hassle the folks they think are trouble makers. "Truth is tough. And this is where we differ. Why should I have to change things that are not harming someone else? When someone ran a key through my GWB is a punk-ass chump bumper sticker I didn't take it off I add "Regime change begins at home." Freedom of speech works both ways. "Truth is tough. It will not break, like a bubble, at a touch; nay, you may kick it about all day like a football, and it will be round and full at evening." -- Oliver Wendell Holmes -

I would say probably better qualified than someone who had not served but you can also get in to civilian contractors and the rest. Not serving does not make an opinion about the military automatically invalid. The whole "kill or die" thing is not what I was talking about. That is only logical to most people unless you are a really hard core pacifist. My point was people from all walks of life end up with the idea that the authority is right because it is authority. And this is certainly something that the military tries to drum in to recruits. If you left the military with that thought process in place then you were indoctrinated. If you question authority occasionally then you were not. I too lived up to my military promises and try to do as well in civilian life. That is why I showed up at reserve duty during the Gulf war and would have gone if called even though I disagreed with what we were doing. That is also why I got out when it was over so that I would not have to participate in anything I didn't agree with later. I think a lot of people would benefit from some sort of government service. Doesn't have to be the military. But doing something because it is good for other people and helps other people will always help you. "Truth is tough.
