  1. I actually like candles that just smell of, you know, burning wax. Does anyone buy scented candles for themselves? They always seem to me like gift purchases for the lazy or desperate present buyer. And yes, I've been guilty in the past!
  2. Yeah, those Viking longships don't come cheap!
  3. I finally picked up Mervyn Peake's Gormenghast trilogy - yeah I know, about 70 years late. I should have done a bit more research before I bought it. I like sparse prose, and this is incredibly heavy going - I can see why they're such thick books!
  4. Serious question.......no. But how much danger did the people put themselves in that helped recover the body from that height? Like they said, it took quite a bit of time, skill and planning to successfully recover the body. Was it time and $$ well spent or was there an "easier" less dangerous alternative approach to the recovery? What about one of them giant inflatable airbags things. The use of one of those would help any damage the body would incur from the fall. Well, regardless of the effect on the autopsy, we're all entitled to a little dignity in death. If this were a deceased BASE jumper, few people here would be advocating throwing his or her body off an 1100-foot platform, even if recovering it more gracefully cost time and money. I seriously doubt any of the recovery crew were put in significant danger - if they were, then they should have spent more time and money to avoid that.
  5. Sure! That's the great thing about the internet - there are sites for you, whatever your fetish. I spend half my life at www.clownfacedcollagenbabes.com.
  6. Ha! They look like a really cool couple.
  7. according to my Mac dashboard speed converter...200 fps = 136.36364 mpg... free fall. really?!
  8. Only SFW is your W doesn't mind streaming media.
  9. I'm thinking that might complicate the autopsy!

    Ipad 4 Survey

iPad 4? We don't even have the iPad 2 yet!
  11. There's the giveaway for me. Change in itself can be fine. Resourcing crisis panic measures dressed up as 'change' - not so much. Too often, managers have pressure from higher up to say they can produce the same results with fewer people. To justify that they have to present some kind of plan as to how they're going to do it, regardless of whether or not it makes sense in real terms. But of course you're right that whatever the reason, bitching about it isn't going to make it go any smoother!
  12. Sergey, Fantastic stuff - I love your style! Really dynamic, and you've captured the freefall experience so well. Made me want to get in the air! Are you a professional artist?
  13. I actually really love this quote I think it is a quote by banesanura. It's been around for decades. So has banesanura. I think her version should be, The beatings will continue until money improves...
  14. I'm going to say about 10 seconds. And I doubt they're as resilient as cats are when it comes to long drops.
  15. Well, even sheep would be exotic in the urban sprawl of South London. The coolest wild animals we have are foxes. And yes, they're pests, but I do like to see them roaming the streets. Walk through my neighborhood after dark and you're almost guaranteed to see one or two, and they're pretty bold as well. They're quite happy to trot along the pavement a few paces ahead of you. Oh, and every now and again they move indoors.

My love She said that when all’s considered We’re only machines. I chained her to my bedroom wall For future use And she cried. (Steve Turner)
  17. Squirrel in a wingsuit would look pretty cool. And then you could just use its head, paws (do squirrels have paws?) and tail. But you'd have to be able to make a tiny wingsuit. And fill it with squirrel-shaped stuffing.
  18. Oh, for me it's between the keys on my laptop. It's actually pretty.. ugh... I'm going to stop typing now.
  19. Everything comes back to Point Break.
  20. "I am an F... B... I... agent!" "Yeah, I know, man. Ain't it wild?"
  21. Wow. Whatever you think of cops (and in general I don't have a problem with them), pulling over two vehicles at once is pretty good going. And it also make him sound fairer - even though he already had his 'catch' with you, he still wasn't going to let the other guy get away with it!
  22. Scarily, Point Break is already 20 years old - or will be this year. Still, sincerely, one of the great action movies in my book.
  23. Well, to be fair I'm not sure you can blame your luck, unless you mean you were unlucky to be born with a heavy right foot! Doing 87 in a 65 zone and not getting a ticket is good luck. Everything else is (as we say over here) 'a fair cop'. By the way, what's the significance of daylight savings?
  24. I'm surprised they let her do the course twice - I'd always assumed that was a one-shot deal, and after that you wouldn't be able to avoid the points. Did she also say she got caught a second time because the first course wasn't any good?
