  1. Yeah I have to agree with you but the technology is pretty cool and you know it will get better. Yep, I guess. Right now I think we're in a bit of a cultural dip where this kind of technology is making everything easy to do, but the output and the experience are suffering. So everyone's a 'musician' (Rock Band), and a 'movie producer' (Xtranormal) - but not really. We're uploading barely watchable footage to YouTube, taking grainy pictures on our cellphone cameras and listening to tinny music through our cellphone speakers. We're making duff cartoon avatars of ourselves (yes, guilty, but at least I drew mine ). Having said that, the technology is catching up. I'm just looking forward to the time when it does justice to people's talent.
  2. Um - I think the script loses something in the timing and delivery!
  3. I doubt that'll be necessary. If you could just organise your neighbours to join you in prostrating themselves, wailing and gnashing their teeth, the gods will eventually have mercy on you and will return the moon.
  4. Yep, so long as I'm taking it off. There are occasions, when I'm home alone for the weekend and not going out, that I'll slob out and not even get in the shower that day. But I'd never put yesterday's underwear back on again!
  5. All of them. Can I have my brownie points now?
  6. But you'll also be wearing something that looks like a woman's garter belt. If that guy sells more than a dozen of those, I'll eat my crooked hat.
  7. In the unlikely event this story is true - it looks pretty preposterous to me
  8. He should have done it 200 metres up. That would have been a lot safer.
  9. Yeah, 'ashes, ashes' seems more popular in the US. I'd never heard it before. But the page I linked to says that the whole plague connection is probably something people came up with later, and that's not actually the origin of the rhyme.
  10. yours is the same as mine we just spell better a tissue was in reference to the plague for us too. even though we never had it here
  11. These days he'd probably be considered one. As would Arthur Harris.
  12. I'd pay twenty of my fine English pounds (less than the cost of a jump ticket over here!) And yes, I'd prefer to bring my own beer - just to avoid the queues.
  13. Hmm i recall it as a tissue a tissue We all fall down... We were always taught it was 'atishoo, atishoo' - as in sneezing - since that was supposedly one of the symptoms of plague. Interesting how we learned different versions.
  14. Miles, you won me over with your honesty and apologetic approach
  15. It's not a proper Saint's Day unless you get time off work. Same reason I don't bother with St George's Day, and why I'm jealous of the Irish! Thank God William and whatshername are tying the knot next year, so I can spend the day in front of the telly instead of behind my desk. I'll be slumped on the sofa in my Union Jack t-shirt.
  16. He was just having a little fun while the boss was out of the office. 'OK, the coast is clear... woo hoooo!!'
  17. They drown out the noise of those guys shouting into their cellphones.
  18. Court order? or crap software?
  19. Yup who wants to read the diary of the desperate housewife (actual title from our local papers website) A few bloggers are really worth reading - interesting or funny. Most of them of course are self-obsessed, tedious and often incredibly indiscreet. I think in general it's a mistake to encourage people to 'open up' on the web
