Congrats to Rook, Mike and Jon! Freefly World Champs, again! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Yea, moved out from the parents place the day (literally, THAT day) I got my first real job (after I tired of that whole media/radio thing). So no worries there! Well, the winters aren't as bad as people think. Yea, it gets cold but it really makes you enjoy the summer that much more. I love that I have such a strong group of friends (some of them have made tandems) and I know they will always be there for me - easily one of the best "pro's" for staying in one place. It's not that I haven't traveled - been to a few countries, even some that don't speak English! I've seen a good portion of this country as well, and still have a passport. All that traveling has helped me appreciate and love Chicago even more. It's my kinda town! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

No, not at all - I'm quite open minded and have traveled a bunch. She just found it odd that my roots were so strongly planted I think. I have had plenty of change in my life - but not quite the same - had to change schools every three years growing up due to family issues of money, transportation, etc....until HS I never was able to keep any friends due to this. Now, I have had the same group of whuffo friends for the last 16 years and we are all a part of each others family now (their parents consider me their son). Kramer - I don't think she meant residence - just moving away from your home base for an extended period of time and calling that home for a while. Sorry about your stuff in FL! lol _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

You're right, I usually like to hear "Fair and Balanced" reporting. But are you sure it is not a vast right-wing conspiracy? Hillary believes in those and we all know she is the most intelligent woman in the world. I love that comedy station Fox News - I watch it every night for a few laughs. I can't remember which program it was on Fox, but the host talked about a Harvard Media study that came to the conclusion that Liberal Media/Newspapers are more likely to be critical of the left and have no problem endorsing views from the right - they would also be open to supporting GWB, and were known to openly take jabs at Clinton. They also found that Conservative Media/Newpapers never support opinions on the left and always support views on the right, plus they would never support a candidate on the left, nor have they taken any jabs at GWB. The Harvard study concluded that the Liberal media was more open minded and more likely to be a neutral and reliable source for information and opinions. The guests on this show were stunned when the host asked "so, do you think this is true?" One of them asked the Fox host - wow, your contract negotiations must be going bad. bwahahah! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I was having a chat the other night, and someone found it odd that I have never lived outside of Chicago - let alone never moved out of my home state. She found it even more odd that no one from the group of friends that I have had since High School are the same way (about 8 of us). Is this really that odd (we all went to Loyola University which is here in Chicago)? She is under the belief that most people, before the age of 30 have moved out of state at least once in their life (and possibly returned back to that state later on). I mentioned that I lived in Ireland for 8 weeks while in college, but apparently vacations do not count - you would need to take up residence. So - I'm curious about this now...please vote away in my first poll ( yea yea, beer, etc) _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... How many popups has your Google-Bar™ blocked?

I have spyblocker and adaware on my system - still have 90 blocked pop ups on my google bar. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... -
Yea, cause all the war, over spending, lack of attention to details here at home have really turned this world and country around and on the right path. Maybe the other option was the better way. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Last I checked, that invisible team on the South Side is two games into first place and have the strongest offense in the AL. Hmm...Two Chicago teams, both in First Place, October is almost here....I just checked accuweather, the temp in hell is 33F and falling. Oh yea, and thats Comiskey Park where they play. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

Unless it's sexual favors and you were just looking for any answer, not exactly... The nickname "Second City" refers to Chicago's population: it is the second largest city in the U.S. That's the most popular theory, but there are others (some which make "more sense.") Another theory behind the nickname is that we were always second in architecture to New York. Also, the nickname has been around longer than 50 years (you could ask my grandpa!) Chicago was the birthplace of the skyscraper. After the Chicago fire, the city invited anyone in to invent new ways to avoid such a tragedy again. Thus, the rest of the world was second to us. As for the Chicago "insecurity" because we haven't traveled....*sigh* well, believe that if you want, but there are plenty of us that have seen a good portion of this country and others....I've yet to find another place worthy of calling home. Want good food in this town? You have to pay for it, just like anywhere else. Want good shops - don't go to the chains, hit the smaller boutique shops that carry the high end stuff. There are at least 3 corner bakery's in my area, and one of them has a line over an hour long every sunday morning. We have a theatre district, and we have plenty of smaller stages with great productions year round on the North side. Ever been to the Goodman - or the backstage at the Goodman? Been to the new LookingGlass yet? I'm not really upset we don't have the bland and boring Cats or Lion King taking up the same stage for 20 years in this town, NY can keep that junk. It sounds more like you are refering to the suburbs, not Chicago. The "burbs" are not Chicago, and usually are just a photocopy of the one next door with all the current chain stores (check out Rand Road in St Charles for example). Traffic can be bad here sometimes - but my drive downtown to work is 17 miles one way. I make it there in 30 minutes during rush hour, even on the expressways. The traffic is so bad on the Kennedy because of everyone heading back to the NW burbs. Life is good on the South Side! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

I guess since I used to do the traffic report, I can understand every word they say! Oh, and how do you know there is bad traffic ahead? One helicopter over head! Three helicopters mean get ready to put the car into Park. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Stop out here in the Midwest - it's the best! In Chicago you have Skydive Chicago (HUGE place, top of the line in facilities, Otters all the time, open all week, the place really is second to none) and Chicagoland Skydiving (smaller landing area, but still jump all week and have cheap jumps on Wednesdays) within a 25 min drive of each other. About 45 minutes from them is another DZ called Millennium Skydiving. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... mm, i build a temple and an archery range. I can get them converted, but how do I get them into archers?! 500 kills and counting at the moment Click on the red flag! Have you seen the sticks they start to carry? Or even the giants? Edit to add - this game is impossible to play without a mouse - the touch pad on my laptop was too much of a pain. yea, the giants killed me For some unknown reason I lost all people in my castle when starting a new round.. and without those wizzards or archers you can't seem to kill those giants. Oh well, very addictive indeed.. but NOT for the RSI suffering folks.. oh my wrist Don't spend all your money each round - you have to spend money on salary (unit upkeep) to keep them from round to round _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Years ago I had Boy George on the talk show I was producing, right around when his book was published. He said one of the reasons he was gay (or at the least, was never interested in women) was because he had that same belief when he was a kid. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Befrore I made my first tandem, I had read the Skydive Chicago webpage, the RWS webpage (because I knew thats the tandem they used), the fatalaties page, the skydiving faq page, and a dozen or so other pages and newspaper articles. Oh yea, I had seen a couple of tandem videos as well. Before AFP I had read the entire Skydivers Handbook, went to Quincy and watched a few botched low turns, read any book on skydiving I could find at the time (How to skydive in 8 days), downloaded as many mal videos that I could find, and well over 100 webpages. Yup, needless to say I was informed. In fact, during my AFP first jump class when they took us outside to explain landing patterns....I looked up at the canopies and asked the instructor if that guy hooking it was under a FX or a VX (I only had two tandems at the time). He turned to me and said "you are gonna to be trouble." _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
