  1. Drop 19 is the best of the bunch.#10 is very phalic. Are you changing the lighting or are the colors done via photoshop? What camera, lense and settings? Nice shots btw. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  2. It may be a strategic move, if you think about it. If he comes out and points a finger at a news organization, it will come under a microscope now and during the next election. He is is 1) helping the media be accountable/credible, and 2) he is already setting the groundwork for his next election. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 4. My understanding is that any violation of a the DNC list can net a fine up to $5000 (I've also heard $11,000 fine may be possible as well). AT&T was hit with quite a few large fines the week the database became active. Funny thing - I just walked into the CEO's office and they were downloading the new DNC list and scrubbing our database as I sat there. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 5. I have had my cell phone on the DNC list since the day it started - it stopped the telemarketers that were calling me there. I used to work in an enivronment where we compared our phone list to the DNC list every three days to scrub our database clean of people that no longer wanted to be contacted. It didn't mattere if it was a land line or fax machine - if it was on the list, we didn't call it even though they were the ones that had contacted us and asked for information. I lost quite a few sales because of this. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

  7. Nice one Bill. This is the sort of "out of the box" thinking I was talking about. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  8. I don't think that I have ever seen anything as sad as this documentary. Family members that lost someone in the war read the last letter sent home before they died in battle. The hardest one to hear was right towards the end of the show - Jesse Givens called his wife a few days before he died to say "I sent a letter. I know you are nosey but please don't read it." He drowned when the tank he was in fell into the Euphrates River after the riverbank collapsed. The letter was a goodbye letter saying "I've been having bad feelings lately and decided to write this...if you are reading this it means I won't be coming home." http://www.hbo.com/docs/programs/lastlettershome/families/givens.html This is really a must see. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 9. JohnRich said the same thing - and here was my reply to him: I didn't call for in-action - I am asking for people to think outside the box. We have the same typical reaction to everything with politics and war and we are in an endless cycle. Something is very broken. Nothing can change unless someone tries something new. We have seen that even when we try to "liberate" a country we run into serious issues - now imagine what will happen if we outright attack with no chance to call it a liberation. (Plus we just can't afford a fourth front (Iraq, Afghan, USA, and Iran - Bush just asked for a $800 billion cap raise on the deficit, we had to send more troops to Afghan, and they asked for 5,000 more troops in Iraq today). There are already plenty of deadly NBC items out there that could be found for the right price and used against us. We have a country that can now hit Alaska with missles and a leader that is goofy enough to do it. The target we have on our back is visible already. The dangers are already very real, letting Iran into the Nuke Club may actually settle and bring peace to that area, but it could also raise the risk. Then again, we may have immediatly removed a threat in Iraq but in the long term we may have increased the risk to our borders from the backlash. There needs to be better long term planning. No, I don't have the answers (yet?), but then again, if I am one of the only ones thinking outside the box; we never will find the answer. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 11. Been there, done that, didn't make the day seem any better or worse. It was just another day....but at home alone was alot less stress. You get a bit jaded about the holidays when time after time after time the most important people in your life ruin that day/season for you. I am up for the drinking part, however. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

  14. Rebellious Republicans Derail 9/11 Reform By JESSE J. HOLLAND WASHINGTON (AP) - In a defeat for President Bush, rebellious House Republicans on Saturday derailed legislation to overhaul the nation's intelligence agencies along lines recommended by the Sept. 11 commission. ``It's hard to reform. It's hard to make changes,'' said Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., who sought unsuccessfully to persuade critics among the GOP rank and file to swing behind the measure. Hastert's decision to send lawmakers home without a vote drew attacks from Democrats, and capped an unpredictable day in which prospects for enactment of the measure seemed to grow, then diminish, almost by the hour. He left open the possibility of summoning lawmakers back in session early next month. As approved by key negotiators, the White House and the bipartisan the 9-11 commission, the compromise would create a powerful position to oversee the CIA and several other nonmilitary spy agencies. A new national counterterrorism center would coordinate the fight against foreign terrorists. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney both contacted congressional negotiators by phone in hopes of nailing down an acceptable compromise that could clear Congress in the final hours of a postelection session. But Reps. Duncan Hunter and Jim Sensenbrenner, chairmen of the Armed Services and Judiciary committees, raised objections. Officials said Hunter, R-Calif., expressed concerns that provisions of the bill could interfere with the military chain of command and endanger troops in the field. Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., wanted additional provisions dealing with immigration, these officials said. ``I am very disappointed that these objections have been raised at the 11th hour and temporarily derailed this bill,'' said Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, the primary negotiator on the measure for Senate Republicans. Collins said it was surprising, given Bush's recent re-election triumph, that Republicans were not willing to approve legislation that he favored and his aides lobbied for throughout the day. Democrats were biting. ``The commander in chief in the middle of a war says he needs this bill to protect the American people,'' said Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn., who led Democratic negotiators on the issue. He said the development was ``particularly shocking after the president, the commander in chief, has been re-elected.'' ``Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House, and the blame for this failure is theirs alone,'' added House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California. If lawmakers fail to pass legislation this year, they will render moot three months of hearings and negotiations that started with the commission's July release of its report studying the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Lawmakers would have to start from scratch next year - if they even pick up the issue again. With a new Congress taking office in January, unapproved bills expire and new lawmakers and committee leaders would have to consider any new legislation. Lawmakers originally thought they had a deal Saturday and the commission, a bipartisan group that sharply criticized the performance of intelligence agencies, had endorsed their work. The deal ``contains not only major reforms of the intelligence community, but significant measures to improve aviation and border security, and emergency preparedness and response,'' the commission's leaders, Thomas Kean and Lee Hamilton, said in a statement. The agreement had been reached between Collins and Lieberman and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich., and Rep. Jane Harman, D-Calif., early Saturday. Harman, D-Calif., said the Pentagon has worked to scuttle the bill. ``The forces in favor of the status quo are protecting their turf, whether it is in Congress or in the bureaucracy. And at a time when we are in a war we can't allow turn concerns'' to triumph, Collins said. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 15. Yeah, that's nice...but after 238976486423 hours driving and killing only 1 spider, you'll feel the pain. I'm at the buggy as well, just got past the crane. So far there has been a surprising lack of bad guys. It feels like I am just walking thru the levels without any fear of not having enough ammo, etc. There needs to be more bad guys!!! I didn't even see a way to increase the difficulty level. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 22. I was at the bar and watched the entire thing as it happened. It was interesting to watch the entire bar come to a standstill and watch that brawl. It was amazing watching it.....gotta love mob mentality. Then I caught the Clemson football game and fight today as well. sheesh. I'm tired of this crap - I like sports to be sports. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

  25. You are right, I agree, but like I mentioned on a previous post on this thread, they want you to "use" the "new" features of the engine (in the case of D3, the famous flashlight), it's lame, I know. But, in my opinion D3 is more interesting that HL2 in terms of action. So far I am enjoying HL2. The action is not as intense as D3, but it's different. The story line is better as well. I'm not sure that the airboat sequence needed to be as long, but at least they mixed it up with some puzzles. I'm still getting used to the gravity gun. Currently I just got passed the part with the russian "father" chaaracter and I am staring down the hole into the mine....had to stop there and go to bed last night. I tried CS:Source and was bored after five minutes. I've never been a big fan of CS anyhow. I'll have to try the new HL1 Source version in multiplayer tonight to see if I like it. I'm having issues running this game on my roommates computer - I cannot get it above 800*600 and had to turn down the texture detail to medium. I'm thinking it has to be his video card...I thought he had his x800 already but he is still on his TI4600 with an AMD 64FX and an Audigy 2. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
