Damn!! I thought that was just gas! I'm not stubborn, I'm high-spirited!

TOUCHE!! At least I warned ya to stretch first!! I'm not stubborn, I'm high-spirited!

Ya know, I know where you can get your rig packed for base jumping..............quick openings............nice neat canopy.......just stretch out real good before jumping! I'm not stubborn, I'm high-spirited!
-
NOOOOOO, I like the other one better!! Change it back, please?? The weather not my fault, I am not manifested at all!! I'm not stubborn, I'm high-spirited!

Hee all my horsebackriding friends FREAKED when they found out my new pasttime......."thats too dangerous" they said. My reply?? Ask Christopher Reeve what the most dangerous sport is? They shut up.

Swappie, don't go! And even worse, don't go bowling! If you still insist on leaving, I suggest horsebackriding.....its very close to skydiving........its all about balance, you get the nice thigh bruises, you gotta hang on to the steering lines, and when ya hit the ground going fast, you feel like you had a super hard opening.....just a better option than bowling!

PHEW!! I thought it was just me!!

This gives me an opportunity to send out a thank you to a 4 way team that helped out a mere student on a solo jump. Last weekend at our DZ, there was a 4 way meet, so when I managed to get on a load, I found myself on a plane full of strange faces. No big deal, it was my transition to throw out from rip cord, so I was repeatedly going over the deployment procedure in my head. The 4 way team next to me (I have no idea their name) asked about my dive, we discussed separation and the importance of not tracking. Ok, I went back to my mind games. Before jump run, I was pleasantly shocked when one of the team members said dont forget to zip up your suit all the way ( i had it down a few inches due to the 80degree weather), and motioned me to turn around for a pin check. I was so busy focusing on the "let go of the handle" I had forgotten to ask! But those "strangers" were looking out for me! I never got their name or saw them around afterward, but if you are reading this THANKS for taking the time, and thinking of my safety!!!

BAHWAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH !!! You got 'em all!!! I love twisted zoology humor!

Some more experienced person might have a better answer, but I have always gotten some bruising, just because it is a tender area suspending (for me) a lot of weight. This time, I have welts, however, with lots of bruising - much worse than normal.

Thanks guys. I headed to the dz to pick up my stuff and I felt EVERY bump in the road. I sat today out. I will jump when it is less painful, more stuff hurts as time goes on. How the heck can the backs of my knees hurt?!? Oh well. I have to admit it did twinge me a bit to see the other students jumping. Ah, but my time is coming, uh at least I think.

So do the first people to send one in get to pick where they want it to go on the vehicle????? I'll send in one but its gotta go on the BACK DOOR (ala CASA)

That is exactly the sound I heard as my canopy opened. Could I see it, why no, my head was forced down and I couldnt lift it up. My slider was forced past the toggles and halfway down the fabric webbing of the risers. I couldn't watch the opening, but man I feel it! So my question, am I asking for a painful canopy ride if I try to jump again today? I have welts and bruises at every point of harness contact. But the weather is beautiful, and I only need 5 more jumps for my A! I can endure a lot of pain, so I am looking to hear from personal experience. Thanks guys!

I thought if it were a real hockey bag, it would have skates, scars, bruises, ripped up fabric, and yell obscene things at you, and have an accessory that resembled a stick that jumped out and tripped people, eh? Oh, wait, um, er, nevermind

Mental state and skydiving performance
NtheSeaOrSky replied to skybytch's topic in Safety and Training
Lisa, Dr. John DeRosalia (sp) has a book on that very thing. Its filled with ways to overcome different mental blocks. Well worth the money, in my very limited opinion. -
I would just like to add a small note. I am BY FAR NOT the expert in this area, but please STICK with ONE!! As a student I was taught 1 hand per handle. 6 months later a different instructor decided to CHANGE my emergency procedures to 2 hands. Both have their merits and faults, but NOTHING (to date) has caused me more concern and angst than to suddenly try to "relearn" my procedures. Over those first 6 months I drilled those procedures far into my brain, and now before my next jump after a 5 week delay, I am "cramming" new info into my head. EICk!! To make me feel more secure, I have drilled many different scenarios since then ( single hands being pinned back, "blind" handle find/pulls, twisted up in the risers, etc) I still won't know until it happens, but I know I feel much much better than the morning I was told, "Well, thats OK for an experienced jumper, but here's what you need to do" GULP. Just something else to think about.

[steps into flame suit] Would now be the time to point out "Jersey" is a breed of cow?????? Did the sheep get mundane?? {running away quickly now}

This is a new point in my life......I am intrigued by a post with "urinal" and "etiquitte" next to each other.

Another dodgy debate with room for flaming

DARNIT! I wished my scanner worked! I have this great pic of a restaurant in Myrtle Beach that has the back half of an airplane on the outside. We took the picture to remind my Dad what would happen if he let me "drive" during the high speed buzzes......um, not that we ever did that kind of stuff ....."ooh, is this my margarita???"

Ahem, sorry, I should start having complete thoughts. I learned of the benefit of strength and flexiblity training on other activities in college. My brilliant reasoning was to fill all those silly PE credits at once, they are cake classes anyway. BOY was I ever wrong!!!! The strength and flexibility stuff I did in one class TREMENDOUSLY improved my performance in the other (advanced swimming ....read=OLYMPIC F*&^(ING SWIM TEAM TRAINING!!) As my strength and range of motion improved, my performance swimming skyrocketed. It only seems to reason it could do the same for skydiving. One just has to realize it wont teach you to skydive, or make you stop spinning, it will heighten performance. And I need to stop having run on thoughts as well. Oh, and the nutrition, i dunno, i lived off pizza and beer through college

I would definately, because I understand the benifits. I think if others did, too, it might become more - for lack of a better word- popular. If they dont know what they are missing, how will they know they need it/should have it? I will relate it to packing class. Starts off as someone showin someone else, then as everyone recognizes the high need for appropriate classes, tah dah, formal training. For money not beer sadly. Ok, did that make any sense?
