  1. I think it is extremely poor judgement to expose kids to stories of an invisible man in the clouds who purposefully let his son get nailed to a tree, but that is the price of freedom; you have to accept what the twit next door chooses to do with his freedom. Edited to add: I think you are right about it being illegal in Germany but they have socialized medicine and we know y'all don't want that.
  2. Is it against the law to be part of the Aryan Nation?
  3. If you go with a Vigil 2 you can change the mode between Student, Expert or Tandem, so if you have a rig down for repairs, you can take the AAD and put into any of your Student, Tandem, or rental equipment. I think the mods should remove this post as it is a blatant sales pitch and deliberately off topic.
  4. I concur with the others on here that question why you would buy a Fury. The Fury was designed more than 25 years ago when wing loading norms were much different than they were today. A one to one loading is a good max for you as a novice. Back then it was the max for all but the reckless. Buy something else.
  5. You haven't lost them, you have put yourself on their radar screen. You don't work for them this time because of the timing, but if they were otherwise interested in you they will likely be interested in you in the future. Contact them again just before you move. Maybe when you have an exact date and address you can leave the impression that the barrier that was there last time (timing/availability) has been removed and you are now the right choice.
  6. I find that the best video for debriefing comes from about 8 o'clock or 4 o'clock high. This keeps the video flyer out of view of the student as well as giving a good side view of their body position. The view in these pics are a bit to longitudinal to show the student that his knees are down. We can see it from the first still, but it may not be quite so obvious to the student. You said you like to be main side; I wonder why. On one on ones the reserve side will give a better view. If the student is going to be dumped out it is usually the main side instructor doing the dumping. If you are in his field of view it simplifies his life. I realize you get a better shot of the student's pull hand from the main side but I could not see myself dumping my student out without spending some time looking for the video guy.
  7. That is exactly what they will do when you cause an accident and the accusation is made. It has the potential to be deemed impaired driving.
  8. I just heard that the charges have all been dropped. They will all be charged again later. Doesn't look like anyone will be arraigned before inauguration day. Gawain and I have a bet on how long Gitmo will continue to house enemy combatants. We agreed on Jan 31, 2012. I am starting to believe they will be gone within one year.
  9. Do you really believe that is the only reason he declined?
  10. I know people who spent part of their youth sleeping in London tube tunnels. They got over it. Hell even the Irish are learning to get over it. You can choose to teach your children that some day the war will end, or you can teach them that peace is not possible. Your examples are people "getting over it" after the fighting has stopped. This isn't the case here. Actually the Irish got over it before the leaders did; they forced their leaders on both sides to move.
  11. No, I am not comparing it to anything. Morality is not comparative; it only compares action with belief. Teaching those children that hate is good, that it has official sanction, is bad. Not bad for the the palestinians, but bad for the children themselves.
  12. This is where the rules of war come in. Israel does not have the right to minimize military losses without regard to collateral damage on the other side. Virtually all international protocol restrictions on ordinance reflect this. Johnson could have saved many American servicemen lives if he had used nukes on Hanoi, but he didn't because it was not acceptable. Obviously this scenario in Gaza is nowhere near the one I just referenced but the principles are the same. And Gaza doesn't have the right to endanger their civilians by using their backyards as missile launch sites. You are correct Gaza Hamas does not have the right to do so. Their actions however do nothing to weaken my point.
  13. No its focuse is on justice as there will always be people who brake the peace. It will if no justice is ever served. Or they can decide to be just. Once justice is served there is no need for fighting. It does seem that once conflict is established it must continue until one side is broken; there is no room for compromise.

  15. Collateral damage is not just measured in deaths; suffering also matters. Using incendiaries like WP increase non-combatant suffering. 16. I know it's a bit of a drive, but come on up to Edmonton. It is supposed to be +6 on Saturday and we are going to be jumping. (DZO doesn't know yet but I am coordinating the ambush).
  17. They aren't trying to screw the world; they are reacting to lower demand for their product. I live in an oil exporting region and the AMERICAN oil companies that dominate are laying people off left right and centre. Grab a first year economics text and check out the shape of the supply curve. When prices fall suppliers supply less volume. People on here like Rev Jim talk about how we need nice low gas prices for a year or two to get things going again. The problem with that is that almost all exploration is shutting down. This will lead to more shortages later. Low prices will also threaten the viability of alternative energy start ups. If you put on your tin foil hat you can even see the multi-nationals buying them up at huge discounts. Oil prices at >$70.00 are here for 1 year at most. If it persists any longer than that it is because the depression is truly upon us.
  18. It mostly says that some Israeli kids need to learn how to spell... No Ori, it means that the Israeli government is teaching the children to hate. They (you) are laying the foundation for war without end. So ye sew,...
  19. I agree that the callousness that the Israelis treat the Palestinians is immoral, I do not believe for one moment that the immoral disregard for opponent's children is not equally shared by the Palestinians.
  20. Makes a mockery of Israel's claims to be trying to avoid civillian casualties. Artillery is much more accurate than the unguided missiles that Hamas has been lobbing over by the thousands into Israel, while using innocents as human shields. Where's the mockery? Although I have no time for the "Israel has no right to defend itself because the Palestinian children are in the way" argument, I do think this is an error on Israel's part both morally and from a PR standpoint. As you said earlier WP is indicated for strictly military targets (what munitions aren't). They have the power, and the the obligation, to achieve their goals with less collateral damage. They should pursue those options. The civilian victims of WP will be on display to the world for years to come. Remember the little Vietnamese girl running down the road with the napalm burns? I was ten years old when that TIME was published but the image was indelibly burned into my consciousness (mine and about a billion other people's). There is a picture of a little Palestinian girl out there waiting to be taken. When it is the effect upon world opinion will matter. The Israelis like to say world opinion doesn't matter, but it does.
  21. Say WHAT? Are suggesting that a belly flyer stays on the hill for 12 seconds. Seems more like 5 or 6 to me.
  22. I haven't heard of this livestock tax and I don't understand it. Cattle produce greenhouse gasses by burning renewable carbon sinks. If the cattle owner must pay for his beasts' emissions does the crop farmer take a cheque from the gov for sequestering the carbon?
  23. But you are making the mad skilz argument when you say that that is ok for people who are not as good drivers as you, but you are good enough to deal.
  24. Maybe some terrorists rebels just blew up the death star.
  25. So we should ban cell phones while driving unless you have mad skilz like jtval.
