It's all about you. It doesn't matter who offered first or how long you waited at the first place. The big question you have to ask yourself is "Which job will make me happier in the long run." Are adventure and new sights high on your priority list right now? Are you really looking for that settle down job in the industry you love? There are not a lot of 'all about you moments' in life, but this is one of them

PIA Symposium 2005 - DZ.com Roll Call!
Andrewwhyte replied to slotperfect's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Quitcherwhinin, I leave home tomorrow at 04:30 EST and arrive in Jville at 22:35. That entire time will be spent with Riggerrob at my side rehearsing his lectures. The Horror! The Horror! -
I am a Strong pilot. Keeping the student's hands away from mine was emphasized on the course (taught by Bill M). I have had my hands/arms grabbed in the plane and on opening as well as some attempts during freefall.

As far as I have heard they are very economical to run. It is the purchase price that gets you.
-
Bullshit! You were trollin' fer skanks.
-
Try that where I live and you'll get an Airbus up your ass.

And you with a pregnant wife at home. What're you doing reading the personals anyway?

I think the conversion price is high enough to make it unecenomical for smaller DZs unless they are sure it's the right size for them.
-
Nope. You don't even have to do that. Any thread started by you gets me excited. 'course I'm not sure I've ever seen one that wasn't about sex.

We got written up by Transport Canada about ten years ago because after overhauling the engine and prop, rebuilding the dash, new electrical harness and radios, and fresh paint in and out, we were cavalier enough to operate our 182 without EXIT clearly marked on the door.

This is not necessarily true. The increase in tach time of 25% (not 20%) in this example will be offset by lower costs. The purchase price, maintainance and insurance costs all fall with the smaller engine. If you feel you can keep it running all day during peak season you probably need the larger engine. That said I doubt if you can reliably cycle 12 jumpers to 12500 every 20min on 675hp

Canada wins World Junior Hockey Championship
Andrewwhyte replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in The Bonfire
What really sucked is that it started at the same time as the Orange bowl. My clicker thumb is strained. -
OU didn't belong there last year. OU didn't belong there this year. So does Jason White get drafted in the second or third round? Or not at all?

I think it's important to pick a topic that everyone has an opinion about. Another thing is to phrase your obnoxious opinion as a question so as to make it harder to ignore. Here is an example: Are the Aggies the laughing stock of the nation more because of their poor play on the field or because of their stupid nickname?

How much did you spend in 2004 on skydiving
Andrewwhyte replied to reddevil1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If you include income foregone because I didn't have a real job: way too much to think about. -
thanx

I finally got around to reading The Satanic Verses last year. It blew me away. Any of Dan Simmons' Sci-fi or horror. I haven't read any of his crime stuff but I'll bet it's good too.

Best Buy has good deals on turntables this week.

There have been two fatalities attributed to student grabbing instructor's arms and another two suspected of it. I don't think it is something to be ignored. I have had students grab on a few times, usually during opening shock.

I teach them, "If you want me to open the parachute today remember to leave my hands free at all times." My jump run review is, "Remember, blah, blah, blah,.. and leave my hands free at all times. Lets go have some fun."

Wondering what it takes to get a DC-3 started
Andrewwhyte replied to Tweek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
He said DC-3. Try 30 jumpers. At least. I've seen 39 in a DC3. Quote WFFC 1990- 49 jumpers until Scotty Carbone ran up and boarded a rolling plane; make that 50. Temp was about 103 degrees. -
Ohh! You were doing that subtle, sarcasm stuff eh? I never get that shit.
