So you want to be a TM and/or AFF Instructor
Andrewwhyte replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Instructors
QuoteSo what you're telling me is that USPA ratings are worthless in Canada?Quote It's called reciprocity. Do you think there are any USPA DZs that will honour my CSPA ratings? The truth is there is a process for getting your US licenses converted provided you were a resident of the US when you started. As for instructional ratings, a conversion process is available, but you still need the coaching ratings from the Coaching Council of Canada. CSPA does not issue tandem ratings. Since you don't have any instructor ratings at present why would you get the American ones and then try to convert? Do you consider Canadian ratings to be somehow inferior? It's a rather poor attitude to take into a teaching regime you plan on participating in. Is this a stigma you carry with you about your entire cultural heritage? If so good luck getting your visa renewed. -

If you want to do anything in Canada you will need to start with your Coach 1. These courses are frequent. look here for course conductors: http://www.cspa.ca/cwc/ -

It's when your passenger doesn't get you a beer and you have to walk to the fridge yourself. This may be caused by you surfing them through the peas 'cause you don't have the strength to flare. See top of page for remedy.

DZ Cover-Your-Ass methods
Andrewwhyte replied to masterblaster72's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
True enough, but if my pilot decides that the funny noise on the legally flying aircraft is not a big enough issue to shut the plane down, and it subsequently quits, causing an emergency bail-out in which the above whiner lands out and breaks his leg, does that mean I get sued because we did something wrong? -

Now that I dont agree with, if something happens to you because they did something wrong I think you should have every right to sue. Feel free to not visit my drop zone. -
Why do Tandem Instructors complain all day?
Andrewwhyte replied to RockHard's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Tandem Masters only complain when they have time to complain. If they are running from the field to the gear-up room they are to breathless to complain and thus are happy. I've been complaining all weekend. -
When students hear the radio there is sometimes an attitude that it's all good. The most important change you need to make is for your instructors to strongly make the point that the radio instructor will not assess their canopy for them; they and they alone are responsible for canopy assessment.

Wrong. The Inquisition is not over; it continues to this day. They simply don't have the political power to torture that they once did. No one expects a German Inquisition.

Last time there was a non-Italian pope there were two in a row (the Borgia Pontificates). That didn't work out so well.

If your touring being overloaded will prove a major drag on your enjoyment of your trip. Bring your book, USPA card, and your licence; rent the rest.

Even JPII said a couple of years ago that this guy Darwin had some interesting ideas. Who knows, maybe history will remember him as on of the more progressive popes.

I think you will find that the greatest plurality of Americans are actually white females. They are not a majority. If you drop the gender, are most Americans still white? Can you say that white Americans represent America better than any other group (that would be the more accurate comparison)? Judging by the government, press or this forum, I would have to say 'yes they certainly do.'

You are correct, it should have read I think the muslims are nuts. Actually, yes they do. most Christians are catholic.

The Grand Inqusitor will keep the Dogma pure. No condoms for Africa, No population control for south America, No gays in heaven, and most importantly,.. women will know their place in gods creation and be happy with it. The conclave was inspired by the holy spirit. ... and we think the muslims are nuts.

Aircraft exhaust side effects
Andrewwhyte replied to ChrisL's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Prolonged/repeated hypoxia sometimes has that effect. Were you going higher than usual? -
BE PICKY! Flying heaveys is a better job than most people have, but flying fighters is GLORY. If you are going to make it you have to be better than your classmates in every way. This is your time, GO.

How tight should my closing loop be?
Andrewwhyte replied to guy_andrews1952's topic in Gear and Rigging
A fish scale cannot be correctly marked in Kg. Kg is a measure of mass; fish scales measure force. In order to measure mass you need a balance scale. -
I learned at a time when guys just didn't wear weights. I was a lot lighter than the people around me so I just learned to fall fast enough. To this day I have bad habits from that time. When you are constantly flying at the bottom of your range you sacrifice the ability to move effectively in other vectors. I do not think weights should be substituted for level control skills, but if people with thousands of jumps feel that their performance is enhanced by wearing weights rather than just arching harder, maybe that's true for you (punkey) too.
