  1. Good, Good. The other thing is not to own the same gear more than two seasons (replacing it once a year is best).
  2. ......................................................................... The deer in this area have great genetics and minerals. They would grow big horns if it wasn't for the fact that they are being shot when they are younger bucks. There isn't a chance for most of them to get very big. The reason I was able to get these big bucks was that I was hunting places others weren't hunting. I finally found a place, way back in a wilderness area, that had some truly big bucks. Those areas are being hunted hard now though. Eastern Montana Mule Deer have poor genetics and possibly poor minerals. I've seen very few big mule deer bucks taken there. I have seen some dandy Whitetail taken on the river bottoms in Eastern Montana. Much of that is private land though.... When you say great genetics aren't you saying great genetics for getting shot? If hunters prefer to leave the eastern Montana bucks alone will their genetic traits not prevail in the long run? This assumes that human predation is the principle pressure source on the population.
  3. When the Mennonites, Hutterites and Dukabors came to Canada it was understood that they would not be responsible for defending our country during wars. I am OK with this, but by the same token their opinion of those who do carries exactly no weight with me. The poppy is not a political symbol at all. Her Majesty's representative, Her Excellence Madam Jean wears one. Her Majesty herself wears one. The judge is wrong.
  4. I had a bulging disk in the early nineties and it has never completely gone away. It was triggered at work but was the culmination of years of stuff including bad openings and one particularly poor landing. Some days my back is better than others, but it is a permanent condition of my life. The chiropractor will help you with the initial pain but IMHO will not promote healing. For that you must re-assess virtually everything you do. Is your couch worn out? Do you slouch when you read? What about your car? Work? I got a little lumbar cushion from the orthopedic store for ~$25.00; it was really helpful in changing my sitting posture. My physio told me that it was common to get this type of injury in your late twenties, to have it largely go away in your thirties, and to have it return in your forties. This is precisely what my experience has been. If I allow my physical conditioning to slip, my back gets sore. If I get lazy about my posture, my back gets sore, and yes, when I get a bad opening, my back gets sore. One conclusion I have come to though is that I can skydive and have a sore back, or I can have a sore back. Stretch.
  5. I've never been warned, but I have been banned. Not sure how you get warned; kind of like a warning from a cop, has more to do with how his day is going and less to do with you. Of course I'm just a bantam weight compared to you PWs.
  6. The province of Quebec announced yesterday that they will match California's standards if they get the EPA go ahead in order to help create a block. I expect British Columbia will quickly follow suit.
  7. What's wrong with Rastafarians? (You really shouldn't say Rastafarianism because the followers of Ras Tafari don't believe in isms). Actually they should not be listed separately as they are Christians; at least to the same degree that Mormans are Christians.
  8. The stable/declining population countries of Europe are all very smug in their willingness to commit to fixed reduction targets. For the US, Canada, and Australia (whether their new PM knows it or not) to do the same while third world competitors are not constrained is not feasible. I would be willing to see Canada commit to per capita reductions, but with the highest population growth in the first world we will otherwise have to limit immigration to those who bring their carbon credits with them.
  9. Christianity, Islam and Secular/Nonreligious/Agnostic/Atheist. according to these guys If you were thinking of Judaism, they rank twelfth.
  10. NO ONE hires this time of year. Get on the train tomorrow and get your butt to Spain. I'll bet you can find packing work at the boogie enough to at worst only spend as much as you will if you sit at home.
  11. Bite me you red headed munchkin PA! If you let that one go she'll be calling him ginger in no time.
  12. Turkey was not "ready to do what was needed" because the US was ignoring their interests. The same is true (although a bit less defensible) for France. This has long been a hallmark of US foreign policy.
  13. Actually the best thing you can do is vote against anyone who promises to raise spending. In the long run taxes are a function of spending, not the other way around.
  14. Sounds like he's related to Jed Clampett. Wasn't Jed from Arkansas?
  15. It really depends upon your baseline; where do you sit in relation to your neighbours? I live in Canada and have voted right in every election I have been old enough to vote in. When I am on this forum talking to Americans I am definitely not a conservative. You live right on the border of flyover country and the left coast so I really don't know where your baseline is. My guess is that your a conservative in Seattle and a liberal in Billings.
  16. Sometimes I will use the word 'partner' to refer to a straight person's SO if I don't know their relationship status. I figure if you move in with someone they are your spouse; a lot of people don't agree so I look for another term. Girlfriend is really bad if they are married. When I lived in Vancouver referring to a straight person's partner was no big deal. Now that I live in rural Alberta I think I would be looking for a punch in the face.
  17. NO! WRONG! If someone disagrees with you it is because they are wrong! Stupid is so judgmental. Oh for fucking Mo's sake! another BF refugee. If you read the whole thread you would know that I was criticizing that upside down rat's judgementalness ; I don't need you telling me I'm wrong and then reiterating my point.
  18. Umm, bears that size usually have a MOTHER close by.
  19. You fucking rodents are all the same. I call it intellectual thuggery; if someone disagrees with you its because they are stupid. What evidence do you have of this bonfire persons lack of intellect. I'm not talking about anecdotes by the way, we want proper peer reviewed studies around here. IT was TURTLE do you need anymore evidence Oh, well that's different then.

  21. When i was a kid you could get a license or have the bans read in church three weeks in a row. Then the Gov said everyone had to get a license. That's all well and good, but to claim that they are performing a service for the couple is sophistry at its worst; it is not a service charge, it is a tax.
  22. Why can't we have a preacher for president? Works well for Iran.
  23. Just what value is added to your marriage by the licensing agent? Marriage has existed for thousands of years without licenses; just because the government passes a law saying you need one does not mean they are doing you a service for issuing it. In Canada our Government does us the "service" of registering our firearms for 200 bucks. I happen to know from personal experience that the gun works just fine without one.
