    If, IF these stories have any basis in fact it will certainly be interesting political and legal theatre. As I see it if he was born in Kenya he is still a natural born American as his mother was one. If he was an Indonesian and gave up his US citizenship the question must be asked whether a parent can abrogate a child's rights (think skydiving waver). It would be poor form to wish a constitutional crises upon the country for entertainment reasons, but still...

    As I said above, extra maintenance costs of the FXC tend to reduce the savings to near zero if you follow the required maintenance schedule.

    By that logic car salesmen should be getting larger commissions as they are selling less cars. No you should not be paid more for doing the same work (or be paid the same for doing less work, depending on how you look at it).

    That is actually what we are looking at for next year. No net increase in average pay but paying based on weight just the same.

    Why then is it workable in the Canadian, British, and many other militaries? Are Americans really that much more homophobic as a group? Is the US military unique in its inability to handle the diversity that exists within the society that it serves? If so is that a strength to be preserved or a weakness that must be expunged?

    Picasso. When I first went to Spain I had no use for him, thinking he was just cubism. After touring the museum in Barcelona I had changed my mind; I couldn't stay away from the place. Slowly I warmed up to his cubist period and now prefer those pieces.

    Eh? A PCA is just someone holding onto your pilot chute. Are you talking about static line jumps? Uhmm no. PCA is a form of static line system (as opposed to a direct bag). An IAD (instructor assisted deployment) is someone holding your pilot chute.

    The FXC needs to be tested in a proper chamber every pack job. It needs to go back to the factory every 2 years with a realistic chance that it will fail a test and need the factory sooner. The truth is when you add up the costs over the lifetime of the thing the price advantage over a more reliable, lighter electronic unit is negligible.

    I work at Edmonton Skydive Centre in Westlock AB. We do not get paid extra to take the big ones. Everyone does their share (with a pass given to the new 110lb instructor for now). Our stated max is 230, but we break it for fit people. The DZO is talking about paying by weight next year but he has no plans on charging the customer by weight.

    From section six of the BPA operations manual: 2.1.3. The following Wing Loading criteria should be applied to main canopies: a. First Jump ‘Solo’ Student Parachutists - not to exceed 0.8 lbs/sq.ft. b. ‘Solo’ Student Parachutists having completed at least one ‘solo’ descent - not to exceed 0.85 lbs/sq.ft. N.B. Exceptions to the above are permitted where a Canopy’s Manufacturer has published advice that a higher wing loading is suitable. The manufacturer’s higher limit may then apply. I think your answer lies here.

    Good luck with that. Currently I am in a small war with a weasel. I am used to fighting with mice this time of year as they look for somewhere to spend the winter but they usually have the decency to run away when I enter the room. This guy just gets half under a piece of furniture and then turns around to look at me with the those "seriously dude, what's the problem?" eyes. Someone told me he will keep the mice away so I was thinking he might not be a bad roommate but then he shit in my pasta strainer. I am not happy with my roommate.
