The centre is what I think. If you disagree with me you are right/left wing.

Orange is to this decade what pink and purple were to the eighties and early nineties. Ten years from now there is going to be all these dirty old orange rigs around and the newbies are going to be like,..."ugh! did someone actually think that looked good? Glad I wasn't around then.

One country's "right" is another country's "left"...

Thanks for the update. -
One country's "right" is another country's "left"...

Whereas in Canada we tend to think of the US as being populated and run by a bunch of religious extremists. -
Don't forget, "The brother from another Planet." Sci-fi blacksploitation at its finest.

They don't on their new ones. I like the b12s on the instructor harness. It makes donning it much easier.

So, I don't know that "the teacher says we have to play with you guys too or she'll take our toys away." is the greatest welcoming line to new members.

And just what would you know about cold?

Who you talking to? Moses?

would you like to see a super-majority in the senate?
Andrewwhyte replied to TrophyHusband's topic in Speakers Corner
In a parliamentary system with a majority the press tends to become the real opposition. The advantage of the system is that when things get fucked up there is a clear responsibility trail. -
Usually the instructors are teaching that to student/novices who are going to spend 30 or more seconds tracking. I think you are right that that kind of wisdom gets mis-transferred to all tracking, including the 5-7 second variety that follows group freefall jumps.

Because the freeflyer can be expected to 'throw' further than the belly flyers.

Do DZ Liability Waivers Hurt the Sport?
Andrewwhyte replied to GLIDEANGLE's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
No, it is not. This is the type of foolishness that the press engages in. If you want to be "as safe as possible" then do not leave the ground. Furthermore if you decide to leave the ground it should be with a parachute that has exactly one (test) jump on it, packed by the manufacturer's chief packer, and opened by 10 000' at the latest. The wind will need to be between 5-7 mph and only a sea level dz will be "as safe as possible." I used to smoke jump with a kevlar jump suit and caged motorcycle helmet; anything less is not "as safe as possible." -
Do DZ Liability Waivers Hurt the Sport?
Andrewwhyte replied to GLIDEANGLE's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
So you believe that every time a student has a malfunction the waiver is invalid. Every time a dz employee makes a mistake they should be hung out to dry. I think you need to re-examine the line between negligence and gross negligence. -
I disagree with you, but you certainly have the right to your position. I wish, however, that you would stand up and publicly ask your government to officially rescind the US's participation in the Geneva Convention. As long as the gov remains a signatory, torture is a war crime.

Dick Cheney has heart issues this morning
Andrewwhyte replied to Lucky...'s topic in Speakers Corner
do you really wish death on the guy? that's harsh. I would prefer life imprisonment for war crimes. -
This is like Leno's "Jaywalking." If you give an intelligent reply they don't use your clip. The concept that the blacks are going to vote democrat this time should be no great earth shaker; they always vote democrat. I think the black voter turnout will be stronger as a result of a black candidate, but the number of generally GOP black voters who switch because Obama is black will be pretty small.

This is one of the big questions. There seems to be a claim that it would trap the jumper and require them being fished out (thus reducing the double jumpers), but there's also a notion that it's not 100% guaranteed to save you either. Neither is your parachute.

So when this net is up, if we have to pay a user fee to walk the bridge, does that mean we have purchased the right to use the net. If so we should all get together on "opening day" and go jump into the net.

Uhm, Andrew was not the first apostle, Peter was. Andrew was his younger brother. (Ask me what my older brother's name is). Got to get your irrelevant trivia right.

Interesting results in Azerbaijan and Belarus; anti Russian vote perhaps?

Jumping in the WINTER :( ....
Andrewwhyte replied to SkyPainter's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well it was -10C when we opened yesterday but probably up to -3 by the time we got the ice off the wings. -15 at altitude so not that bad. Of course I only did six. -
Gotta go with gunpowder and the printing press.

Could this be Canada's next PM and is he an idiot
Andrewwhyte replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Speakers Corner
Actually Harper is crashing big time. He will still win but he has run a piss poor campaign and will likely be weaker than when he called the election. He spent weeks telling the public that the US's credit problems wouldn't affect us. He said Canadians are not worried about their jobs while the automakers are announcing plant closures. When the Stock market crashed he told people there were great bargains to be had. He is an autocratic policy wonk with absolutely no common touch. He may be the best manager we have, but people just don't like him. -
When you give exams do you award points for those who answer the wrong question?
