  1. So I'm all excited to watch the game at 7pm on ESPN... get home, what the sonics are one... then I realize 7pm EDT.... arrrggghhhh living west for sports watching sucks sometimes!!! lets go FLYers..... (insert clap here)...
  2. smoke canisters are VERY hot -- they will boil water off them hot. so if they fell in the right fire starting material.....
  3. if the panhandle is worse than Daytona... sheesh.... scary....
  4. I'm thinking you need to have the city create a drainage ditch.... about 50' wide and long....
  5. my progession, take it for what it is worth... I'm 225 out the door titan 260 (7 cell) 200 or so jumps triathalon 210 -- 50 or so sabre 190 a few dozen sabre 170 a few hundred safire 149 a few more hundred crossfire 139 a few hundred velocity 120 - 100+ (still have it) velocity 111 100+ (still have it, it's my favorite of all of them) stick with a bigger canopy. learn how to fly it, do some CrW with it.... it's all good....
  6. best thing to do is contact Nancy LaRivier (spelled that wrong, but you can pronounce it) at jump shack. she and John Sherman have one they drag out at DeLand they would be able to tell you where they got it (they might have made it).... they ain't cheap though. edited to say... I forgot they have one at Kapowsin also, I shall ask next time I'm there.
  7. Bev will put pads in all you have to do is ask.... booties better on Merlin? doubt it, but when you switch it does take a little time. Hemlin like the Bev suit better.
  8. From 4k? I know the Knights are quick, but are they going to be able to bust out more than just a couple of formations before pull time? I read that as they will launch something..... the demo team typically does CrW during their shows.
  9. That's going to depend on the point of origin as well. That would be SEA. I have credit w/SWA. \ I've flown a bunch lately for work into ONT from SEA, both Alaska and Southwest fly there. Southwest is a connection though. Alaska is direct. Book far enough in advance and the prices aren't bad. it's about an hour drive to Perris (Riverside traffic sucks).
  10. pilotdave has a whole site with videos.... www.skydivingmovies.com (I think, I have it bookmarked, but if you do a search, there are many links)
  11. ah, what the heck.... and as usuall, you have chosen one side and will not listen to another (much more experienced) veiwpoint. In order to do all the things required on big ways, you must learn to do them on smaller skydives, you can practice every exit situation in a small skydive. learning to fly your body gives you many more skills useful in a big way than just going out any flailing around in a big way.
  12. Ray, that cracked me up, one of the funniest things I read in a long time... If you are just limiting to RW, I think Craig only cause he was on the knights, too.
  13. I think Harry is hosting a social "look for teammates" event soon in Oregon. I'm sure he'll reply. One of these days, I'm gonna get my butt to Kapowsin and set up a day for a small 4way camp to help some folks out, too. you couls also post at www.skyleague.com
  14. weather sucked, but what nice people Bill and Cathy are... carry on, that is all.
  15. yup, I wear gloves most of the time, and there has been more than one weekend where I've gotten a blister on my left middle finger from front riser turns..

    Mirage G3

here, let's make it clicky....http://www.miragesys.com/order/sizing_chart.html Mirage has many different main/reserve combinations available. It sounds like you're buying new, if so no sweat with those canopies.... BUT if you a new jumper (I didn't look at your profile), you may want to get a used Mirage and canopy combo for a while, then go for a new one.
  17. yeah, but you get the hot chick discounts.....

we did 18 one day, from altitude though, we were VERY sore the next day.
  19. What about (in the voice of Dennis Hopper) "CANOPY ON FIRE - WHAT DO YOU DO?" Did you see when Troy Hartman did that? was pretty cool. he really didnt' have to cut away as the thing went up in a ball of fire. (oops I said cutaway
  20. yup a real blind guy... years ago. of course people jumping rounds said people jumping squares were fruitcakes, too.
  21. Interesting, from what I understood, they have to move the fuel from the body to the wings of the aircraft to satisfy FAA requirements, and the wings will need some major modifications to make that happen. that is cool though, they are excellent planes.
  22. I know a guy who did this to get ready to take a blind guy on an AFF jump. Things worked out pretty well for him on the practice jump, and the blind dude did pretty good in the air. They had worked out a system for signals based on touch during the skydive. pretty cool stuff.
  23. are you feeding it? Coons are nocturnal creatures, and typically scared of humans, when they start wandering around in the day like that there is typically something wrong with them, and you don't want to mess with them at all. yes, I grew up in the sticks.....
  24. not true, there are differences in design that do make a difference. Merlin doesn't reinforce her knee seams, I have seen many suits destruct there. The zipper isn't the best either. Tony has had a hard time getting measurements right, and his bootie design isn't as good IMO as some of the others. there is a difference. I am not so familiar with body sport.
