you managed to deploy 3 canopies on the ground????? wow -
and it was a totally different situation......thanks Jim
-
now I'm feeling left out... and since you already knew I'd yell at ya, I won't bother
-
Nice to know there's at least one other person here who thinks RW includes something besides 4-way. yeah, but it has to be multiples of 4 to count....
-
well, that depends on your continuity plan, right? slot switching blocks will require the piece with memory to fly "B" slot something or other at some point. if you're talking straight randoms, "B" is a potential (OC/IC on wing), "C" (rare - tail on OC), "F" can be built a number of ways, "K", "L", "N" (IC/OC in cat piece), "Q" (can be built a number of ways).

just got home from it... it is long!!! the chicks are hot though...

well, depends on the dive, depends on what you are doing in that dive. there are some tricks you can use to slow down -- throw a tee or sweat shirt on over your jump suit, baggy jump suit, different materials, etc. but baggy suits can be limiting (depending on what you are doing). it's much easier to get lightweights to fall faster, sometimes people with low jump numbers also maintain that "student arch" instead of relaxing into the air (making you fall faster obviously). IMO swoop cords have limited use, and can actually be dangerous under canopy (limiting arm movement). Oh, and the "slow fall" position -- pretend somebody punched you in the gut, that's the position in the air you want (back curved, pelvis out (not butt up), and shoulders cupped). but this is not an effective postion for turning points.

Ooooh, I'm going to visit him when I take my kids to WA in June, maybe he'll spank me! Where are you going in WA? tacoma.... jumping at kapowsin.... I can't remember the date

aacccckkkkkkk WHAM!?!?!? DURAN DURAN?!??!?!?! yikes.... I lived that era once.... what happened to the healthy living?

Not quite....only covers "protected classes" and only applies to employers with 15 or more employees. Race Color National origin Sex (includes pregnancy-related conditions) Religion Retaliation (for opposing unlawful employment practices, for filing a complaint, for testifying about violations or possible violations) Association with protected class Age (40 and older in companies with 20+ employees) This law is known as the Age Discrimination in Employment Act or ADEA Age (18 and older) Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (in companies with 50+ employees) Americans with Disabilities Act no, there are like 85 covered areas.... I've got the info at work, I'll get it and bring it home... you are right about the 15 employee thing. Protected classes got really broad when the supreme court ruled about the act covering harassment and discrimination. basically it boils down to you being in a minority group (in this case an extreme sport participant), and being treated differently than the rest of the people at work. I asked specifically on this one to get clarification in a class I was in.
-
ok, so here's the deal.... the supreme court in the US has determined that discrimination/harassment in the workplace falls under the 1964 civil liberties act. They can not turn you down for a job or promotion based on outside legal activities (such as extreme sports). If they do, you are being discriminated against, and they would be found in the wrong (if you can prove it -- the only proof the courts need is that you are being treated differently than others based on something i.e. race, age, gender, sexual preferance, extreme sports, etc.)

what do you do with the nose when you pack it? I leave it totally alone, and let it hang... works for me. I've got a 120 and a 111, they both open pretty well, they do hunt, but no slack lines or surging as you suggested.
-
and all this time I thought you did

a freind of mine had one... it's all on video, pretty cool (since everthing turned out OK). the video guy actaully flew down to her and deployed her BOC (pin got knocked out on exit for a 20 way or something similar)
-
it's sucks when someone dies, it sucks worse when you know them... and it really really blows when they are close to you. I'm sorry to hear about Hol and the others lately. Kevin, I know exactly what you're talking about. I lost one of my best freinds last year. I still have his cell phone number programmed, I rent movies we used to talk about a lot, I started watching seinfeld more (he was a huge fan, would even get off the phone for a half an hour every night it was on), I still start to pick up the phone to call him about something funny/stupid/or just plain ordinary I just saw or did. One thing I didn't do though was think about quiting jumping... He would kick my butt if I did that. If anyone needs to talk, feel free to PM me.

I've got to switch over to working nights tonight, and am bored.... I even read the womens forum....

I'm doing friday my theoretic, saturday refresh theoretical and then al saturday and sunday jumping. If I can't finish it by then another weekend will be added. Only thing I fear is that the stress and adrenaline kick will wear me out to much on day 1 (or even 2) of jumping. Anybody got comments on this fast learning thingie? Is it even doable? well, I saw a guy do all 7 levels in 1 day.... so it's doable, but spreading it out over a couple days is probably a bit better. IMO the longer you can just hang out at the DZ as a new jumper, the more you will learn from watching, listening, and asking questions, and that's mostly free (well, except for beer).....
-
ahhhhh 4 (number of relatives in town to visit):3 (people who emailed or called about going to the DZ): a few (dinner out with the family
-
as everyone knows by now, a large landing area, and the opportunity to swoop cows are pre-requisite to a home DZ for Stacy.....
-
depends what ya want. me, I'd get the G4, it's a bit smaller, and has some construction features that make it a little more comfortable (the way the seams are sewn). but the G3 is still a rock solid rig.

well, it's probably 2.5 hours from diva to Cross keys... then weigh turbine van, otter, caravan, vs. cessna. it's worth it to go a little further to CK's... not bashing Hazleton as I've never been there, but if I'm gonna drive a distance, I'd rather drive a distance to turbine aircraft at a cool DZ (CK's has a good vibe)
-
do you know karl and Sherry? they commute from there to Cross Keys, we did the drive to compete there also.... it's not terrible, but you'll have to make the weekend out of it.

which California dropzome is closest to southern LA?

ya mean when the smog clears? isn't it to windy to jump then? -
