  1. how much do you earn? sign the check over..... I was 8,000 in debt at the end of last year. (was worth every penny, well all except the bad parts)
  2. so Jonathan is partly correct on the bootie thing. many hours in the wind tunnel went into the development of the stiffners on her suits. Merlin, Tony and Michigan all have something similar. Basically, they are there to prevent the bootie from collapsing on your leg and not acting as a sail to catch the air. Makes the legs much more powerful (beware). Also, since there is more fabric, you will go a little slower. The competition option will get you the square grippers, etc.
  3. ummmmm..... should I jump in here and say something or stay out?
  4. does it involve fast 4way and hot women?? if so I'm in! (ok, it doesn't have to involve hot women, just fast 4way). my rig is in date! (well, one of them)
  5. And in competition a good cameraman helps a LOT! Nothing sucks worse than training a whole year, only to loose because of your cameraman messing up! ouch......
  6. where is the OC going? how are you presenting? how is the timing? if you are trying to put yourself straight out.... and the OC is droping away, you'll lose that grip, the OC need to get their hips straight out (many ways to explain, but they should not drop below a line straight out from where they are in the door). Many exits that you think you are messing up on could be the result of someone else not going where they should. (that's where that whole video thing comes into play)
  7. actually the PCV valve does make a difference. they should be changed (along with the fuel filter)
  8. to my knowledge the 4.6L v-8 was not offered in 1984 or 1986.... my 5.0 took 5 quarts and used about a quart every 2000 miles. typical of the 5.0 engine
  9. Yeah, blue! and sometimes charcoal....
  10. yes you will improve, but it can also lead to finger pointing and accusations, too. you will learn faster with video (good video) and someone who can help debrief. video doesn't lie. people do
  11. I always tipped -- but then again 10-12 jumps of 4way back to back loads kept them pretty busy... of course it was Y packing for me too, which isn't so bad, now is it?
  12. so where's the DZ anyway? I may wander that direction if it's really nice, of course if I can organize 4way at Kapow, that's what I'll do
  13. I have found (in 4way anyway), that the chest rings make 10-14 jumps per day, much more comfortable. (yes, all rigs custom). Especially in the door trying to get all scrunched up for exits. I have found things to be different than Aggie with respect to canopy input though. if I leave the chest strap tight, the articulated harness (chest rings), move more and it's harder to get a response. Of course loosening the chest strap creates a straight line up the harness, and it becomes a moot point.
  14. you could also be getting a funky burble from the plane or something similar causing the altitude to read differently.
  15. due to the serious nature of an injury, I shall refrain from gutter like comments....
  16. oh now that just sux... what happened?
  17. ya going to show up at Kapowsin any time soon?

    whew.....

another memorial day weekend over with... maybe the curse is broken..... 4 out of 5 of my mals have been on memorial day, and I lost my teammate last memorial day. So I made three jumps today (I couldn't nail a swoop and almost hit a cedar tree - lifted my feet over the top of it -- cause the line I wanted was taken by a slow boat), but all the openings were good, and everyone was safe (well, that I know about), and it's after midnight on the east coast! I only had to work part of the weekend too! (the other ones typically featured 16 hour days on some sort of start up of a project at work...) maybe I can look forward to next year!!!!
  19. 17 years and 5 pack jobs? where has it been stored? $300 bucks isn't bad, but what kind of shape is the nylon in?
  20. and there is nothing wrong with that... and that dude has a lot of time on his hands.... I really was disappointed in the movie actually, if it had been a tv series, but come on "to be concluded"?
  21. link didn't work for me....
  22. 2000 miles in 1 day???? that's pretty quick.... Southwest isn't that expensive even for last minute notice....
  23. His name was Seth Karp. Like most of us I think he deserves more than "A guy at Cross Keys". Jim He also deserves a lot more than saying that he died attempting a rear riser landing because that is not at all what he did. It is not even what was SPECULATED (and ALL we have on that incident is speculation) that he did. What was SPECULATED was that he may have been flying with rear risers not realizing that a toggle had become unstowed, and that when he went for the toggles his canopy went into the hard spiral that he was unable to stop or correct. well, your speculation is incredibly off base.... since I was flying next to him under canopy, I can tell you with 100% certainty that isn't the case.
  24. that burble will spin up a canopy fast! I've seen it happen a few times.
