The problem is that you're missing an important element. The one who control whether or not the process goes forward are not at the table. I was actually pretty impressed with it. The story answered the questions it can reasonably expected to answer. There weren't any obvious deficiencies. It reports what the kid said, what the cops said, who has been arrested and who hasn't, and or had the always riveting victim picture. Yeah, it may affect the jury pool's perception prior to trial, but (A) so does every story about a "hate crime" and (B) the ADA and defense liar will get their day in court, and everyone will tell their story, and judge or jury will decide. In what way were the shootings comparable to summary execusions. Was there someone placed on their knees and shot in the back of the head? Being swarmed by a knife weilding mob is generally considered to be threat of deadly force, which a reasonable person would respond to with deadly force. By the way, what was the "incredible violence?" Did they stomp people into the deck? Did they stab someone thirty seven times? Were there random shots fired into a crowd of bystanders?
