NDAA 2012

While that sort of nonsense is common in most parliamentary bodies, including US Senate and House of Congress, the short answer is no, that's not what happened here. President Obama had plenty of time to let congress know what he would and wouldn't sign. In fact, he did exactly that. He didn't demand the fascist sections be removed. He simply required that the executive branch hold the power to deny basic rights indefinitely, rather than the military. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
2. Generally, no. It's even more annoying to those of us who can then it is to you. One more "benefit" of the two party system. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Not just doing the same thing, but expanding it. I hear this is very popular in DC... witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

NDAA 2012

google: NDAA Wikipedia: NDAA 2012 I think this is a horrible law, I think it's unconstitutional, and I've decided to vote against any politician who voted for it congressman, senator, and president. I hope it'll be struck down by SCOTUS, but I don't have a lot of faith in the courts at the moment. (Greenies, please feel free to have a heavy hand in this thread, a la SOPA thread) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
7. Nice red herring. Do you have anything substantive to contribute that pertains to this topic? Is it YOUR contention that it is normal behavior to dress up as Santa and then shoot dead 6 members of your own family? My substantive contribution so far has been trying to get you to clarify what you mean by "nutter". So far I've been unsuccessful, though not through any lack of effort. If we assume that facts are reasonably similar to what's been in the news, then we know that the estranged husband went to his wife's residence while wearing a santa suit and carrying a firearm. Once there, he shot them. Obviously, this is not normal behavior. We don't know if he coldly decided before ever leaving his home that he would go there with the intent to murder everyone present, if he went there in a sudden rage and killed them all, if he went there while upset and only decided to kill them after something happened on scene, if he went plain buck fucking crazy and thought it'd be the fun thing to do that day, or if there was someting else in his head. So we have established he was not normal. Is THAT your definition of a "nutter"? Anyone that is not normal? My concern is that you have no definition of "nutter". You clearly state you don't want nutters to have guns, you don't believe the current system is adequate, and you want to make sure they don't have guns so they can't kill people. Your only indicator of "nutter" seems to be murder. So, for the umpteenth time, how would you define "nutter" (prior to homicide), how does that apply to this case, what would you change about the system, and would that have had any affect on this case? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
8. first they beat our own dictator - saddam. and now they've beaten the us in iraq... It must be a fascinating fantasy world you live in. Someday a shrink or fiction author may ask you about it. Here in the real world, back in 1987 and 1988 Iran used mines and tried to block the strait during the Iran-Iraq war. The US military destroyed all opposing forces that didn't turn tail and run, and then forced a cease-fire between Iran and Iraq. Operation Praying Mantis Do you really think anything present day Iran uses to block the strait wouldn't be destroyed by the fifth fleet? Russia doesn't think so - Russian military official: Iranian Navy no match for US battle group we armed saddam so he was our dictator. he attacked iran for us - and lost. iran now have the upper hand in iraq... You saying it doesn't make it so. Back up your claims with sources. Hell, anyone can say you moved to Thailand to do things that we're banned from joking/talking about on dz.com. Unless they have a source, it's all just hot air and make-believe, isn't it? We armed Saddam? We armed half the freaking world, if not more. Does that mean everyone out there is "our boy"? I wouldn't say so. And if Saddam was so much our boy that he attacked Iran for us, then why the hell did he attack Kuwait and force the US military to attack to remove his army? See Desert Storm. What makes you say Iran now has the upper hand in Iraq? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
9. Please explain your comment. A-Sony didn't do that B-3D fabrication and copyright are valid concerns. Do you know what the US #2 export is? Sony was the one sued, Universal was the shrew. I typed that up wrong. The case I'm talking about, after going all the way to SCOTUS, is Sony Corp. of America v Universal City Studios, Inc. 3D fabrication is a fact of life. The technology is there, and getting easier. What's your problem with it? The USA's biggest exports by the dollar are military hardware, commercial services, semi-conductors, aircraft, then cars (new/parts/accessories). I'm sure overseas sales of US videos and music are significant and you are going to claim they are #2 (source, please). witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

11. Um, your complaint should be "fucking CNN". I just copied their headlines. I agree that the bladed weapon they refer to being rattled is a sabre. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
12. i refer you to the answer i gave billvon... You didn't give an answer. You started adding nonsense conditions. Plain english, do you think it should be illegal to drive drunk, yes or no? If yes, why? What harm have they done? Should it be illegal to drive faster than the posted speed limit? Should it be illegal to run a red light? Should it be illegal to carry a concealed weapon? What harm have they done? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

14. It's called sabre rattling. look it up. Analysis: Saber-rattling in Strait of Hormuz U.S.: Iran 'saber-rattling' over strait The best they could do is temporarily disrupt oil passage. It would hike the price of oil short term and piss off the world. It would also likely be "suicidal for the current regime." witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
15. Is it your contension that everyone person who ever shot someone is a nutter? Do you have any indicators for a "nutter" label prior to homicide/suicide? Do you have any suggestions for "something" when you cry out for government to do something? What would you have done differently in this case? Should Americans not have gun rights? Should Muslims not have gun rights? Should people who dress up like Santa no have gun rights? Do you have anything to contribute other than handwringing? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
16. On the whole, probably, but there are quite a few very vocal artists in the digital rights debate (Metalica comes to mind). My label has decided to not support SOPA (but does support the stepsister PIPA). SOPA is too far-reaching for common sense, and provides too much power. As someone who makes their living entirely from copyright, the concept of SOPA is a sound one. The actuality of it is a different story. I suspect we'll see another markup before it goes to a vote, and then we'll see it likely pass Committee. US citizens have done this to themselves. Continuing to download/upload copyrighted works, now setting the stage for 3D fabrication and illegal downloads. This is part of the implied urgency of SOPA and PIPA, IMO. You sound just like sony and other tv/movie producers who screamed in the 70s about how VCRs were nothing but tools of copyright infringement. Well maybe a bit more reasonable in tone, in not content. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
17. I'm going to leave aside that you pretty much just proved Bill's point about you. Simple question: If a drunk driver is pulled over and has not caused a wreck or run anyone off the road, who has he harmed? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
18. ...and your forecasting is full of shit. Iran wouldn't dare blockade the strait. They would not have the support of OPEC and the US and other consumer nations would annihilate their navy in hours. It would be just another hiccup in the oil markets. And sort of actual war would be far less clean and clear. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
19. um ... actually - that's what we did-ish Not really. There were several leaks through security failure/stupidity, but if you're thinking of fortitude, that wasn't a leak, that was intentional misdirection. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
20. umm, I don't know, maybe I'm just a citizen that wants government accountability and transparency and NOT some group of blind-faith, purple-koolaid-drinking drones letting them do whatever they want whenever they want....? Including the military. duh? So you want the government to do away with the concept of classified? Should we shut down secret alphabet soup agencies to satisfy your "accountability and transparency" desires? I doubt that's what you want, but that is what you're saying. So add a little detail in there, TK. Tell us about how you'd draw the line, what guiding principles you'd use. Or I can start calling you names and talking about blind-faith, purple-koolaid-drinking drones who all KNOW the government is wrong, whatever it does unless that includes taking from anyone with more than them. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
21. Agreed. Three concerns, however. (A) Aristotle's logic is not infallible, but it is the most effective way to make an support a given argument. (B) Emotion can be explained in terms of evolutionary psychology. More importantly, emotion is specific to a person. While we can all accept that emotions exist, no one is out there saying there is only one true emotion for a situation and all others are wrong. No one says their emotion is fact or truth. It is how they feel. (C) How do you reconcile the parts of religion that specifically contradict science, or vice versa? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
22. Right, it's really unfair to say that a Texan who dresses up as Santa and then shoots dead 6 members of his family is mentally disturbed. Could be normal behavior. It sounds like he was separated or divorced and wanted to see his kids on Christmas. Holidays are the most common time for depressed and suffering folks to snap. So now what, professor? Is it your contension that everyone person who ever shot someone is a nutter? Do you have any indicators for a "nutter" label prior to homicide/suicide? Someone else who thinks a Texan who dresses up as Santa and then shoots dead 6 members of his family is normal. Must be something about Texans I didn't know previously. Why does it matter that he dressed up as Santa? It was Christmas. Is dressing as Santa during the holidays one of your nutter indicators? Remember, we're looking for indicators PRIOR to loss of life. Your jabs at Texans and concealed carriers don't do you credit; they come off trite and juvenile. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

It seems we've danced this two-step before, and you still can't offer a definition of nutter or what you would do other than what is already in place. 25. Good thing that there was a good guy with a gun there to drive away the bad guy, or the injury toll could have been worse. Right, only 9 to 1 in in favor of the bad guy. Good job the COP was there. Would you prefer it was ten or more to zero? Also, technically the good guy was there as security, not as an officer working for the city. And, for the record, what make you call this one a "nutter", since you still can't/won't define your terms? Doesn't look like a headcase going off randomly. Looks like some piece of shit got into a fight in a club and pulled a gun. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
