can somebody PLEASE speak English to me?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Kennedy replied to weegegirl's topic in The Bonfire
I tried learning spanish from some of those tapes. Gave me mucho headaches. I found the best way to learn spanish was to work with one very cool Puerto Rican and a bunch of Mexicans. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -
Despite the view of many that the only good lawyer is a dead lawyer, executing defense lawyers for incompetence does seem a bit extreme, even for Texas. ha. ha. ha. and oh yeah, ha. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

You have to remember that most people are credit addicted. They already have everything mortaged to the hilt and owe ridiculous amounts to everyone and their brother. Also, a lot of people would rather file for bankruptcy and let the judge figure it out than do it themselves. Hell, with a number like that I'd tell someone to buy a smaller house, sell their SUV for a used civic, and come back if there is still a real problem later. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Even the most tolerant of SOs can only be expected to take so much. Rating second best to a busted mug when modeling lingere is more than over the top. All scholarly research (that hasn't resulted in firings and revoked prizes) clearly shows that the second amendment is an individual right. Studies of court decisions shows the same thing. Read Dred Scott about the rights he would've aquired if given citizenship. Read Miller about military arms and which guns the second amendment protects. Read United States v. Verdugo-Urquidez, 110 S. Ct. 1839 (1990). Read the other thirty five or so cases where the supreme court recognized and upheld the second amendment. partial list here Check into the story of Michael A. Bellesiles. The entire article is idiocy. "The people" mentionede in the second amendment are the same ones mentioned in the rest of the amendments and the rest of the constitution. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Nicely put, but I can sum it up much more succinctly. What he's saying is that he is going to go ahead and be afraid of inanimate objects, and believe that governmental intervention is the best way to solve a problem. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

First off, I don't appreciate being called "sheeple." Second, I never said he should be censored by the government. I was simply using my first amendment rights to point out what an asshat this guy is. Also, I support any college which wants to distance itself from such offensive rantings and ravings. Why do some people seem to think that freedom of speech means freedom from consequences of that speech? You can say anything you want, but don't expect to walk away smelling like roses after flinging shit like that. I do as well, but that doesn't mean I have to support him for doing it. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/oped/bal-op.guns02feb02,1,2077814.story?coll=bal-oped-headlines&ctrack=1&cset=true The author "Michael D. Barnes, a former Democratic congressman from Maryland, is president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence." That quote pretty much tells you the veracity of the article. http://www.bradycampaign.org/press/release.php?release=621 What a bunch of drivel. The best/worst part is what Brady employee John Shanks said in the full length video. "... people with concealed carry licenses could legally carry this gun in their communities and you know, if they’re having a bad day or things aren’t good and a police officer comes in contact with that person it could turn into a very very deadly situation for law enforcement." My lord. Even among the many viewpoints on dropzone.com, no one disagreed with the statement that CCW permit holders are more law abiding (hence less likely to shoot anyone, especially cops) than the general public. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

I'm just wondering what city he's talking about, and if he really thinks most hunters use handguns. Let's see, handguns in the city. Chicago? Nope. New York? Nuh uh. DC? Not a chance. LA? Not if you don't want to be treated like a King. Hunting with a handgun? It happens, but it's more rare than blackpowder muzzle-loader hunting. Here in reality, most cities have a lot of antigun laws and bans, most hunters don't use handungs to hunt, and saying that there is an even number does not imply an even mix. I wonder about people sometimes. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

(A) The studies go both ways as to which is the more common reason. (B) I'm sure a lot of people who mention hunting aren't avid hunters out there for every season. (C) A lot of people own guns and never use them, so I don't know what they'd put as a reason. (D) Wasn't this thread about England? QuoteApologies for all the questions but you aint gonna learn shit if you don't ask right. I didn't say all people have their guns only for hunting. I said most people's primary reason for owning a gun is hunting. That doesn't preclude self defense from their consideration. Most huntes do consider self defense, and some self defense folks are hunters. (I fit that last category) Also, while there are more hunters than self-defensers, there are more than enough self defense folks out there to sway policy ona regular basis. There's a reason Guns are one of the Three Gs. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

According to gun owner surveys, most owners don't mention self defense as the primary reason for owning their firearms. The most common answer in most studies is hunting. Self defense is usually second, and "other sport" is third. Personally, I don't think the worst will happen, but I can't guarantee it won't happen, either. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

So it's ok for you to throw out an insulting stereotype, but when I apply that same train of thought to other topics, you go off on some ridiculous tangent about guessing. Note to self: don't bother using logic when discussing htings with "slug." So according to you every cop beats his partner? Well, since you don't condone domestic violence, you should never call the cops, right? Take aggiedave's advice: next time you're in trouble, try calling a crackhead and leave those brutes to their violence. What in God's name does that have to do with anything in this thread? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Dude Nuclear weapons are just a tool. An inanimate object - it would be foolish to be afraid of them, why don't we just let everyone have one. I mean if people want to commit genocide they will do it with or without nukes so we may as well just let ehm have them. So you equate weapons of mass destruction with small arms. OK. Do you also equate the internet with a printing press? Ducatis with draft horses? Yeah, I saw what you did. You took a simple statement, looked only at half of it, built a strawman around that half, and then compared apples to Orange County. Maybe next time you'll bring something useful to the conversation. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

I'm not going to go down this road again. This thread was about England. Guns do more good in the US than in the UK. Believe it or don't, I don't care anymore. You can go ahead and fear inanimate objects and believe in government control. I don't. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

And Appalachian Law School and Pearl High School refute your argument. (or is it Perle?) Since you're Aussie rather than American, maybe you weren't aware of the fact that here in the US guns are used to prevent between 1 and 3.5 million crimes every year. Here in the US, guns do far more good than harm. Also, there are so many guns ehre that it would be absolutely impossible to round them all up. ps - I'd rather not have to coin new terms for crime as you did after your bans. Does the phrase "home invasion" mean anything to you? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Good point JR, I mean the sniper in Washington could have bought the city to a standstill and killed all those people at random by running up to them and beating them to death with sticks couldn't he. Well, the guy didn't exactly go out to a gun shop and buy it legally, now did he? No, he picked it up illegally (the gun was stolen/missing from a Washington state gun shop). Besides, as I've asked so many times, what sense does it make to base policy on the one time events instead of the everyday realisty? Would you base lifeguarding policy on the idea that a tsunami will show up every day? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
