I like bowl of apple sauce and cottage cheese; good balance of tang and sweet, lots of protein and carbs. (I use reduced fat Breakstones and no sugar added Motts) Some broccoli with fat free ranch is pretty good and not too bad for you Lately I'm big on carrots after a meal, but that's not gonna help you. Good luck. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

You do know the physical evidence will probably never be able to show whether he was trying to back out to escape or to run the cops over, right? The car would do the same thing either way, and leave the same evidence. I hope it comes out conclusively one way or the other, but I doubt it will. THe main thurst of the investigation will be to determine whether or not hte officers were justified in discharging their firarms. That can be shown one way or the other. Knowing exactly what the driver had in mind is a much less exact science. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

BIll, I understand where you're coming from, but you're basing all that on hunters entering a functioning ecosystem. Well, there aren't exactly a whole lot of deer predators left in New Jersey. Zero is porbably a pretty good estimate, unless you count cars. Therefore human intervention is the only means left to reduce the nubmer of deer, unless you want to wait for starvation and wasting diseases to kick in. (this won't happen in many areas because farmers replant their fields every year, and they're not planting for the whitetails) edit to add Of course there is a measure of self interest involved in hunts. Deer-car collisions, ruined crops, et alia for deer, and protecting herds of commercial and game animal populations (revenue) by bagging wolves, and so on. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Your research methodology leaves a great deal to be desired. You may be good at the labcoat stuff, but your poll couldn't have been much more leading if you tried. I hunt for the healthier better tasting meat, the tradition, the love of the outdoors, to help keep the numbers of deer down (as there are far too many in the areas I hunt them, hence balance), and for the skill and challenge involved. I have to tell you, I enjoy it, but it isn't always fun. ** above is in no particular order If I had to pick one ultimate reason, it would be the connection to nature and tradition in the interaction. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

It is when you're alone protecting evidence and have been expecting violent resistance all night. Have you ever dealt with people who just don't make sense? Maybe he thought he could get away, then thought better of finishing off the officer (and thought he could because the cop didn't shoot the first time he wrestled with him. Answered for number one. The question is what happened between "backed off" and :"fired twice more." Weren't you the one wanting more information when it might exonerate the perp? Don't cops deserve the same wait for all the information? He never said he wouldn't shoot. He said it was the last thing he wanted to do. Personally I think all armed people should have that mindset. The world would be a much less violent place. Have you ever read about the evidence missed when nurses examine rape victims? It happens all the time. It seems small at the time but can make all the difference at trial. Same thing here. (what, you don't like the number seven?) Like I said, it he's not bleeding out or broken in half, it can be left off the report sometimes. A sprained wrist, a bloody nose that was wiped, bruises and scratches under clothing, all these things and more have been left off before. Also, just because he wasn't beaten within an inch of his life that hardly precludes this from being a life and death struggle. If someone is trying to take your service weapon from you while you're in uniform, don't you think that qualifies as life and death? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

OK, so if I refered to all cop-haters as paranoid fucktards whose mommys didn't love them enough, that would be cool with you? It wouldn't be cool with me. It would be disrespectful, crude, and right up your alley, apparently. I have some cold hard facts for you. I'm sure they won't match your version of reality so you'll ignore them, but they remain facts nonetheless. First, the cops involved in the Louima thing aren't cops anymore, and I believe at least a few of them went to jail. Responsibility for cops does exist. Second, the Diallo shooting was a bad day for everyone, but there was no criminal intent. The guy matched a violent felon's description, was in the right (wrong) area, and he made a sudden move towards his waist with guns pointed at him. Third, I think it is wrong that cops in Virginia shot up a neighborhood while shooting at (and occasionally hitting) a violent perp. They hsould be held accountable for the rounds just as I would be. If I shot up that neighborhood, I'd have been charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling. The law needs to change for them or me to make it even again. There, you seem to think I'm a Nazi because I don't hate America, and that's pretty far right, and I just criticized the actions of some cops. I hope you at least consider revising your worldview before jumping back into fantasyland headfirst. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Yes I have. You are really going to sit there and claim that the things that go on in slaughterhouses is easier on the animals than being taken by a hunter? I really don't see how the things I listed above can be considered quicker or less painful than one shot stops (the majority of hunts end this way). Long enough to realize they suffered from the wounds. If you never recovered them, what makes you so sure you didn't just miss the trail and leave the body accidentally? (I've never left a wounded animal in the woods, so I have no experience with the situation you're describing. With the trails I've had to follow, I can't imagine not reaching the body) I choose not to post any details here. If you do not understand what I am talking about, then you probably do not know enough about hunting. If you do understand what I am talking about, I would be happy to share the details in PM. Oh, I understand tracking just fine. It's just that I've always been successful. I look forward to an enlightening PM. They need to be controlled on some rare special occasions. My thoughts about hunters using animal population control arguments to justify their hobby are already expressed in previous posts. And we'll just have to agree to disagree (vehemently) on that topic. Nope. Dynamics of animal populations is not my major area of research. Do you mind identifying these agencies and providing a list of solid references to SCIENTIFIC literature so I can study the topic better? And by the way, do you mind sharing your opinion on two Nature articles I sited above? The first article does not impress me. It does not even mention, let alone take into account the many other forces that affect the changing genetic pool of a species. I've read articles stating that more upland birds are runners rather than flyers. Very hyped up. Later research showed this to be untrue in nearly all areas, and possibly true in only one area (a private hunting area accused of over hunting several species and introducing poor stock in the past). Also, if that idea (about Rams) were accurate, one would imagine ther ewould be a drastic decrease in the size and weight of whitetail bucks in the USA. Quite the opposite is true, and big bucks don't seem to be an endangered speices in the slightest. Each of the fifty states has an agency tasked with this topic. Words in the title after "Department" include Fish, Wildlife, Fisheries, Game, and a few other. The second article I sited clearly suggests that hunting does not affect the size of fox sub population in England. Do you mind presenting any opposite examples supported by SCINTIFIC evidence? The idea that the method of fox hunting in England does not significantly control the affect the number of foxes in England can hardly be construed as proof that all hunting is ineffective for wildlife management. Just look at the history of the whitetail deer in the USA. Below are just the first links I found leading to either literature or a source for literature. Enjoy your research. http://rds.yahoo.com/S=2766679/K=scientific+journal+game+management+hunting/v=2/SID=w/l=WS1/R=1/IPC=us/SHE=0/H=2/SIG=11n4urmhe/EXP=1109098070/*-http%3A//www.dfg.ca.gov/coned/journal http://rds.yahoo.com/S=2766679/K=scientific+journal+game+management+hunting/v=2/SID=w/l=WS1/R=3/IPC=us/SHE=0/H=1/SIG=134s2qcop/EXP=1109098070/*-http%3A//www.michigan.gov/dnr/0%2C1607%2C7-153-10363_10856_10905-28543--%2C00.html http://rds.yahoo.com/S=2766679/K=scientific+journal+game+management+hunting/v=2/SID=w/l=WS1/R=6/IPC=us/SHE=0/H=1/SIG=12etj9ajs/EXP=1109098070/*-http%3A//www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/cwp/view.asp?a=466&q=150314 http://rds.yahoo.com/S=2766679/K=game+management+hunting/v=2/SID=e/l=WS1/R=1/IPC=us/SHE=0/H=0/SIG=11id1gdo5/EXP=1109098254/*-http%3A//www.mmm.fi/english/game http://rds.yahoo.com/S=2766679/K=game+management+hunting/v=2/SID=e/l=WS1/R=2/IPC=us/SHE=0/H=0/SIG=11gusihmc/EXP=1109098254/*-http%3A//www.adfg.state.ak.us/ http://rds.yahoo.com/S=2766679/K=game+management+hunting/v=2/SID=e/l=WS1/R=6/IPC=us/SHE=0/H=1/SIG=11hu9aclt/EXP=1109098254/*-http%3A//www.dfg.ca.gov/hunting http://rds.yahoo.com/S=2766679/K=game+management+hunting/v=2/SID=e/l=WS1/R=8/IPC=us/SHE=0/H=0/SIG=12be7ole4/EXP=1109098254/*-http%3A//www.wildlife.alaska.gov/regulations/huntregs.cfm http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/resource/mammals/sexratio/manage.htm http://rds.yahoo.com/S=2766679/K=game+management+hunting/v=2/SID=e/l=WS1/R=20/SS=12942271/IPC=us/SHE=0/H=2/SIG=11fhsn31m/EXP=1109098425/*-http%3A//www.state.tn.us/twra http://www.gf.state.az.us/w_c/conservation_management.shtml edit: go back and read steve1's post, and tell me if you still think all that is more humane than taking game in a fiar chase hunt witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

First, have you ever been to a slaughter house, or seen uneditted video of the entire process? If not, just go find a militant vegan and ask about how the "animals do not suffer." They'd be happy to describe the "interesting" living conditions, the "interesting" transportation to the house, the "interesting" use of a bolt-driver or sledge hammer, the "interesting" way the animals are strung up while alive and sliced so they bleed out, etc etc etc. ("interesting" replaced horrid, torturous, and other not-so-nice words) Second, how long did you track the wounded animals that you never recovered? What went wrong (that they were wounded instead of killed)? Third, can you really see no reason why wolves, foxes, other vermin and varmints should be controlled? Do you think you know better than the scientific agencies that study this very topic? If you do understand why animal numbers need to be controlled, do you have a more "humane" way of doing it? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

You mean there's a reason to watch it at all? If it's not F1, it's not really racing. That's why the devil is bitching, is it not? Too many rules, too many restrictions, no freedom to "be the best?" rubs and scrapes are signs left by rutting bucks for does and other bucks. Rubs are when bucks scratch their antlers agaisnt trees to leave sign (or to remove velvet, depending on time of season). Scrapes are when bucks scratch their hooves against the grounds, basically announcing "Hey, I'm here, and I'm horny" to the neighborhood. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
