    US citizens have the powe to arrest only for felonies they observed themselves. Whether that covers this incident is questionable. I'd say he detained men who had threatened him enough to make him draw a weapon to ensure his own safety. I'd say he took the prudent course of action, and that he should be admired for his restraint.     While I agree that both skydiving and motorcycling can be dangerous, it's all about controling the risks. This guy went out on a public road, went as fast as he could, and bit it. He doesn't have a log book to check, but I'd wager he would be the biking equivalent of a 100 jump wonder who knows all. People like that are walking the knife's edge. Some are lucky enough to make it, others end up like him in both sports. Honestly I'm always a little afraid on public roads on two wheels, and that keeps me alive. I know how stupid other drivers can be, and how much shit I can't control. In skydiving, you're more like to have gear or self issues than problesm caused by other people (except on landing, maybe) I'd say the safest motorcycle riding is safer than the safest skydive, but the most dangerous riding is more dandgerous than the most dangerous skydive.. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

    I'm going to assume we can all agree that when the European settlers arrived they had no intention of assimilating with the native culture. As far as the arriving colonists were concened, there was no country to speak of, just available land with savages on it. Understandably, those "savages" fought back by all necessary means to save their home and culture. By and large they failed. The "invaders" overcame and setup a new culture and new government. Should I feel guilty if modern day invaders intent on changing my nation are more successfully repelled/intergrated?     I'd say the pro-gun guy might be overreacting calling it activism (though it is an odd form of review). However, the anti-gun people have the same objections and false predicitons that they've had since day one. I really don't understand religious groups challenging the law. What possible 'freedom of religion' issue there could be related to a CCW law.     Yep, and that's a the track where things are set up to let you slide and slow you down - to keep you alive. Public roads have no such safety measures. Examples: you don't see many trees, animals, or distracted soccer moms on the track.     Hell, striking an animal at triple digit speeds in any vehicle smaller than a mac truck can be deadly. I've seen EMS use the jaws of life to pry the roof off a Civic to get the dead deer out. The driver needed reconstructive surgery and the vehicle was totalled. He was on US Route 1 in College Park, MD, so it's unlikely he was doing over 70 mph. I've heard of people dying in Moose/pick up truck collisions.     Are there mods or attachments you can put on a bike that will record top speed? (needle stays as high as it was pushed, etc?) IF something like that were available, it seems to me that an idiot intent on going 174 on a public road would want "proof" of how cool he is/was. I don't know if one exists because I was never interested in pushing it like that. (it was my brother's bike and even there was even a scratch I would've looked like that when he was done with me) ps - it looks to me like ther isn't much left of the bike in the second picture. It looks like everything that could've been torn off in a tumble was (except for that one tire).     Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Kansas have no provisions for legal concealed carry (to the best of my knowledge). I believe the "fanny-pack loophole" still exists in Illinois. Other states restrict CCW to the point that it might as well not exist. These are California, Iowa, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.
