"Thar He Blows: Trump Tussles With Scots Over Wind Turbines"
Kennedy replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
Just another blowhard asshole who doesn't want them where he can see them. No different than the Cape Wind Project in Mass. Public or Private, right or left, it's a bunch of rich assholes (some hypocrites) screaming "NIMBY!" witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -
Feeling particularly sexist and racist/jingoistic/bigoted today, professor? Come on, if you want to run her down, she's given you plenty of ammunition without resorting to slurs. You can do better. Since when did you agree with members of the Socialist Party? PM Kenny got it right, her comments are a disgrace. I just provided an excuse - if she was sober then it's even worse. Where did I agree with her? She may very well have been drunk or premenstrual while making those comments, but you sullied yourself with those slurs. I do however agree with Kenny that Daly is a disgrace, though not for all the same reasons. Don't act like sexist or derogatory comments are helping her out. That's like some racist saying "don't blame niggers for their condition, they too lazy and stupid to know or do any better." Is he providing a generous excuse as you claim you are, or just showing his prejudice? A suggestion: don't try to defend it, you only look worse. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Congratulations, you've just proven your opinion is worthless and you believe you are the arbiter of all that is right and good and those who disagree with you are imbeciles. Right. Nothing else happened. There are no ambiguities. You know everything. And just to correct your facts, police do not tell him anything, the 9-1-1 operator did. Also, the is patcher did not tell him to stop, she said they didn't need him to do that. No one told him to stop, and 9-1-1 operators don't have any authority I tell anyone to do anything. I've not only been given wrong information by 9-1-1, I've been given such bad advice theta follow it would have led me to commit a crime. Ooh, internet tough guy. We're sooo impressed. Unless you're a witness who fails to come forward the day of the hooting, you have no freaking idea what happened. You've just come to your own conclusions and think so much of yourself that you threaten violence on anyone who reaches another conclusion or wants to see the prosecution actually prove its case before handing out a verdict. ps - I really hope you have better self control in public than behind your keyboard. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Former NSA contractor Snowden leaves Hong Kong for Moscow
Kennedy replied to ibx's topic in Speakers Corner
I doubt this guy is even considered drone-worthy. He's full on media circus because of the embarrassment factor, but that's probably about it. Due to the embarrassment he has caused the US govt, and to make an example out of him, I would not be a bit surprised if a clandestine operation was sent into Ecuador to extract him. I would be more surprised if it was *not* attempted. Now he says, "he only took the job to get state secrets". No doubt they are after him; unless Bill Clinton gives him a pardon. http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Snowden-secrets-job-leak/2013/06/25/id/511720?s=al&promo_code=13F23-1 Suuuurrrrrre. He only took the job to get the secrets. Then why, four or five years ago, did he say he thought leakers and data thieves should be shot? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -
Please elaborate, I'd like to see what you mean. I haven't been in the courtroom or watching hours of video, but if I were in GZ's shoes I wouldn't be feeling great. He needs to hope that jurors understand that 9-1-1 instructions are suggestions and not lawful orders, that the unintelligible girlfriend has already change her story once and asked detectives what she should say, and that the witness has change her story by adding details and has an agenda (she apparently published her desire to see GZ charged after the shooting). He also has to hope that jurors forget that NBC edited tape tht tried to make him look racist and the lies about him saying "fucking coons" to 9-1-1. Then he has to hope that jurors remember that no one else knows what happened to start the violence. ETA: according the the liar who was on the phone before the shooting (aka the prosecution's star witness), TM was a racist who really liked using racial slurs, including cracker, nigger, and others. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Maybe I'm misremembering, but I thought the comment the President made regarded the fact that he wasn't on trial. I don't remember Obama saying he was guilty or innocent, just that the case should be tried. When the government says a person should be tried, it means the government believes the person is guilty. The court and the jury are to presume innocence, not the state. You don't put people on trial because something bad happened and it'll make you feel better. By the way, when the president says you should be tried for something, you're fucked. That means there are political considerations influencing the outcome that have nothing to do with law or guilt. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Seriously? Presumed innocent is only for the one you want it to be for. Remember OJ? Was he presumed innocent (in reality), or was he vilified by some and worshiped by others. OJ was guilty as hell, but LAPD screwed up so bad and so often that I think if I were or the jury, I would have had to vote not guilty. I wrote a paper on the incident from homicide to opening arguments. My professor called it thesis level and submitted it to a peer reviewed journal. Trust me, he was guilty. And trust me, a conviction was almost impossible. And finally, Shapiro and Cochran made sure there was no jury of his peers, just a jury that would acquit. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

(2) You know the difference between MP and PM, right? Most world leaders don't give a shit if some US congressman or senator lambasts them for their actions or speeches, even if they have a point. POTUS is no different. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Indeed. So why did YOU bring it into the discussion? It was relevant then, but not now? I didn't bring it up. Others did when talking about why he was there instead if at school. He was suspended. The weed had nothing to do with getting shot. You're the one that implied it did with that stupid comment about skydivers and how life is cheap. This is an interesting example of the old game "telephone", about how things change with retelling. Notice that Zimmerman did not use the term "skulking". Skulking is quite different from "walking around", as it implies an effort to evade detection. Skulking is indeed suspicious, walking around is not. Zimmerman did not say "looking into windows" or "looking for a place to B&E". He did say Martin was "walking and looking around", and the dispatcher said "looking at houses" which Zimmerman did not correct. Walking and looking around, even looking at houses, is not suspicious or unusual, especially in the dark, in the rain, and if you are in a neighborhood you aren't really familiar with, especially a townhouse community where all the buildings are similar. So let's see what you have done here: 1. change "walking around looking about" to "skulking and looking into windows" and "looking for a place to B&E" 2. retroactively use the changed (and highly prejudicial) language to justify Zimmerman's suspicion and turn Martin into a thug 3. use the newly created "thug" persona to imply that it is highly likely that Martin initiated an unprovoked attack on Zimmerman. Plenty of things point to the idea that TM actually was a thug, and if evidence suggests he was on the days before he was shot, why shouldn't people think he was acting like one on the day he was shot? I've listened to it and read it. I've also looked into police and witness statements. GZ's statement has been pretty clear from day zero: that TM looked suspicious and walking walking around houses. Why do you think GZ started by bringing up recent burglaries? GZ was not articulate or precise with the 9-1-1 operator, but like I said, no one ever accused him of being a genius. I've read both sides and sources that try not to take a side. Being someone who's carried a gun as part of employment, I try to follow highly publicized shootings as often as I can, especially ones claiming self defense. I'm not saying Zimmerman is innocent. I'm not even saying he is not guilty. I'm saying I don't see enough to find him guilty in a criminal court, so by default he should be held not guilty. Not because he necessarily is, but because the prosecution cannot prove he isn't. And you need to get away from the "Trayvon is a saint and Zimmerman is the devil" crowd. Why are you so stuck on giving TM the benefit of the doubt and presumption of innocence but refuse to give it to GZ? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Personal Armed Drones and the 2nd Amendment

That reaffirms my supposition that if any uav is going to be used by entities outside government and large corporations, it's going to be needle or dart based, or simply drop a grenade or small ied. Was there anything interesting in small vehicle flight? And Zimmerman was fully aware of this, of course. How else could he have known that Martin was an "asshole" who "always gets away"? Or maybe it's post-hoc reasoning about why he "deserved what he got"? Or maybe you left out the important part about why TM caught GZ's eye. I did include it, afterall. Why leave it out of your quote? Lets be honest. GZ saw a teenager he didn't know walking around the gated community in the rain looking into houses. It's not probable cause for any charges, but totality of the circumstances supports a bit of investigation. GZ called the cops, and after being told response would be "when available", he got pissed and vocalized his frustration that criminals seem to always get away even when folks call the cops. No one ever accused GZ'S of being a genius. Congratulations on using your own post hoc ergo propter hoc and on creating a strawman. TM smoked weed and TM was shot. They're not even temporaly related, let alone causally. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

That's my understanding as well. He was suspended for weed in school in the Miami area (although it was reported as an "empty marijuana bag - whatever that is). Mom sent him to dad I seem to recall reports that TM drew GZ's attention not just for being a new face but for skulking around houses and acting like he was looking for a place to B&E. Remember TM was suspended at the time for weed, but there was also that possession of women's jewelry... witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

I make no comment on either Obama's policies or Bush's... but you realise that internationally there was a hell of a lot more laughing going on under the last guy, right? Especially when he got elected a second time, I mean, the world did a collective "seriously America?!?". . -
Following a suspicious person while on the phone with 9-1-1 directing police to the person's location does not rise even close to the level of action required to negate self defense claims against attack. Also, even if guilty of fighting words or initiating a physical confrontation, walking away surrendering or fleeing is enough to separate the violence and restore the possibility of self defense. Add those two things together with the lack of direct evidence other than Zimmerman's testimony, and you have no basis for refuting self defense. (again, I'm not saying its true, just that it stands up in court) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Lots of characters are 33 years old. Beards as big, but I thought he looked stupid. I was glad he shaved it. What miracle? Avoiding prescribed genetic engineering for proscribed natural birth is hardly miraculous. I don't know he the director chose to add JC references (if he did, I have read up on it). The parts referenced here mostly fit with the flow of the story. The only thing that really bugged me was the floating in the water after the oil rig. Besides, how JC was the twist to avoid collateral deaths? Not so much. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

My question is how can anyone reach the conclusion, beyond reasonable doubt, that Zimmerman instigated the violence? It seems to me that anyone calling him a murderer is doing so based on their "knowing" what happened or "knowing" what Zimmerman was thinking. If you believe in the presumption of innocence and prosecutors holding the burden of proof, I don't know how this could lead to a guilty verdict. Even if Zimmerman is a horrible racist sociopath who wanted to kill Trayvon Martin the moment he saw the hoodie, I still don't see a murder conviction based on facts in evidence. Then again this is reality and the law doesn't always outweigh everything else in a courtroom. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Non sequitor. A better comparison would be like nutrition/bio/chem scientist claiming that eating too much will cause everyone to weigh 400lbs or die, and evidence suggested the average weight varied up and down with no significant change. Would you listen to them anymore? Would you attack people pointing to real world observations that refute prediction models? What would you say to a scientist who claimed that light was a wave, that's all there it to it, and anyone who disagrees is an idiot? Would you listen to him? (hint: he'd sound a lot like global warming sensationalizers) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Be nice. Not everyone knows what games theory is, let alone can understand the complex or advanced levels. It seems to me most of the population will never understand more than minmaxing and maxmining and when each should be used, even with patient and competant tutoring.
