Lakeland FL Cops disgracing Police everywhere
Kennedy replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
Very true. I meant ambiguity as to the sex and participation of the reporting party. Other than that, yes it is unclear and sorely lacking in facts. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -
Lakeland FL Cops disgracing Police everywhere
Kennedy replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
well, it could be a 'he'....not that there's anything wrong with that I believe it was meant to draw attention to the lack of "They". no.....read the phrasing of the quote "a civilian crime analyst detailed trysts with the men in police and fire stations, patrol cars, motels and even in a parking lot after a memorial service for a slain officer." it's funny if it's read that the analyst was the participant in all the 'trysts' I'll keep trying.....futilely Any ambiguity is dispelled by clicking the link and reading the second paragraph. If any of the partners had supervisory authority over her, that's not kosher and deserves investigation. If any of the partners were on duty or using city property improperly, that's not ok and deserves administrative investigation. Other than that, if she didn't say no, and no force, threat if force, or coercion was used, then what's the problem? (it's weird and I don't personally approve f her action or the guys, but how is it news or criminal?) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -
So if I understand this right Starbucks can't provide free WiFi in Florida anymore? That's what the article says, but I don't think it's what the bill actually says. Take a look at it. It's link in the huffpuff article to the official text. Look at the April text PDF, specifically the definitions section. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Woman finally jailed after FIVE false rape allegations
Kennedy replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
I've personally interacted with four rape victims (that I know of). Two of those were for ten minutes or less. One of them died in the ambulance en route to the hospital. I'd like to think I helped two or three of them. I never let what they wore or did affect my thoughts about them or the crime. I take a little credit for helping one get past blaming herself and realize that the scumbag suspect was to blame. One is a dear friend. I've never suffered that sort of assault so I won't say I understand, but don't impugn me based of what some other piece of shit (cop or not) may have said to a victim. Victims aren't to blame for crimes. Perpetrators are. On the other hand, I've heard the R word thrown around dozens of times. Several of them are demonstrably false. And as for the presumption of innocence, tell it to a guy whose whole life has been ruined by one false allegation. Take the school teacher who lost his job, lost his house, went bankrupt defending himself, and is always under a cloud of suspicion, even though the liar who accused him has recanted. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -
Woman finally jailed after FIVE false rape allegations
Kennedy replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
You really have no idea, do you? Go do a ride along with your local law enforcement. Most recently I heard a prostitute reporting rape because the john wouldn't pay, and later that night a drunk reporting rape because a shopkeeper grab her by the arm and hustled her out to prevent more damage to his store (on video, no question about what happened). Hours were wasted "investigating" and writing the report on these "rapes". Before calling someone ignorant, try getting outside your comfort zone and see what they're seeing. Or at least ask. edit: That last part was for promise, not DanG. Don't get me wrong, an actual victim makes blood boil and efforts go to the max, behind only child victims. The problem is you can't call bullshit bullshit. Everything has to be treated like a real crime (one of the worst) even for worthless lying scum like the example in the OP. She's not news because of the repeated false allegations. She's news because she actually faced consequences. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -

Ah yes, their beloved FOID. I forgot that the card isn't held to state standards but subject to local tinkering, and yes, like you said, in Chicago's case, a near ban. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

I doubt it. Seem more likely to me that she is one of those jurist who believe judge is spelled G-O-D in the courtroom. What concerns me more is that she is now considering the prosecutor's motion to allowi the jury to consider lesser charges that were not included when the trial started. They tried him for second degree murder, but now that they know they're not going to hit that mark, they want to change the game. They want to offer lesser alternatives to the jury in the hope that they will compromise and find lesser guilt where the prosecution failed to meet its burden. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

I don't know Florida law as well as others, but I can't imagine this is acceptable behavior for a judge. http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/353105/judge-confronts-zimmerman-testy-exchange-dimitrios-halikias witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Yeah, you'll have to leave the city to get a gun, but that's common in too many cities. Read the bill before you go giving Chicago authority it doesn't have. Also, while I'm not certain, I believe the sixteen hours of training does not involve firing any rounds. If that's the case, then there's not reason you can't host the training in any building in Chicago, including the rentable meeting room in the city admin bldg. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Woman finally jailed after FIVE false rape allegations
Kennedy replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
The accused doesn't have to be convicted or incarcerated to be totally ruined. Just an accusation is enough to cost him a job and more. Especially if its a position of authority or trust. ETA: it seems that most rape victims don't report, and most who report aren't actually rape victims. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -

NSA collecting phone records of millions of Verizon customers daily

Good for the pro gun politicians. They knew if they held their ground, the rest would have to knuckle under. If they refuse to play ball, then unrestricted carry would be law. They had to agree to shall issue. I was hopeful, but still can't believe it finally happened. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

The size of the jury is determined by Florida law. The prosecutor has no say in jury size, except that they can force a twelve member label by charging a capital crime. Flirida isn't the only state that uses smaller juries. Louisiana and other have. Also, even state like NY that require twelve can hand down a verdict with only eleven if the defendant agree to it (due to exhausting alternates and losing a juror to injury illness or death). However, to stay on point, your premise is flawed. Yes the prosecution has been one giant clusterfuck ADHD normal process has been sidelined and there's been prosecutorial misconduct, but you can't blame the jury size on them. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

All that shows is that Zimmerman was losing the fight. I don't think the prosecution has questioned that they were fighting, have they? What is germane is, who was the aggressor in the fight? If the jury decides Zimmerman was the aggressor, he has responsibility for the outcome. If they decide Martin attacked Zimmerman out of the blue, then Zimmerman is in the clear. If they decide they can't decide who started the fight, then Zimmerman gets the benefit of the doubt. If they do decide that Zimmerman was the aggressor, do you think he should be completely excused from killing Martin just because he was losing the fight? Absolutely. The problem is the prosecution has not direct evidence or witness testimony as to what happened between when GZ hanging up with 9-1-1 and when TM being on top of GZ doing his ground and pound. I don't know what happened, but neither does the prosecutor. As I've said before, GZ may be the most horrible person on earth, he may have done everything he'd been accused of my folks that hate him, he may be the devil incarnate, but he needs to be acquitted because the prosecution hasn't proved any of it. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Former NSA contractor Snowden leaves Hong Kong for Moscow
Kennedy replied to ibx's topic in Speakers Corner
Herein is the problem with Snowden's 'reason' for spilling secrets in the first place. Please find substantial proof that anything the NSA has done anything to violate the Constitutional rights of the American people. That is to say, substantial proof that is not a semantical argument by someone who has a strong but uninformed opinion. On the other hand feel free to utilize: Executive Order 12333 US Codes: Title 10, Title 18, Title 32, Title 50 Patriot Act (an abhoration of a law) Eric Holden's (THE US Attorney) address to Northwestern Law univerity (really scary when he starts talking about Due Process vs Judicial process) to understand that they have done nothing illegal because as long as they have a Purpose & a Mission they are allowed to collect information. Immoral, perhaps (its debatable), but not illegal. People want to bitch about it all but the first thing they should be doing is lobbying fellow constituents to write their representatives and senators to repeal some of these laws *cough*patriot act*cough*. If you feel that a letter or phone call won't do much and your democratic rights are being ignored then call up an activist group that has the money and power to lobby the correct people. Snowden, like Manning, was, is, and forever shall be a punk. I'm personally glad he's stuck in an airport (for now) and the fact that he has accepted the help of a man also seeking asylum due to accusations of child porn/molestation tells me all I need to know about his character. If te president and atty general say its ok, then it's not illegal. That doesn't mean it isn't unconstitutional. Also, Snowden has apparently accepted the Venezuelan offer. It's on drudge, businessinsider, and other sites. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -

Mexican Police Chief Killed By Rifle From Project Gunwalker
Kennedy replied to Kennedy's topic in Speakers Corner
You want to clarify that before I tell you what it sounds like? If its a joke it isn't funny. If its not, it's worse. Yet it's generally accepted for cops to have this very attitude towards others. It's not acceptable for a cop or anyone else to be a racist. Being happy that someone has been killed by criminals is also generally considered a fucked up perspective regardless of employment. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -

And if the allegations are completely false and malicious fabrications, there are no consequences for the plaintiffs. Folks need to keep an open mind until some solid facts come out or investigating happens. Until then it is unsubstantiated and out if context. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
