  1. See, now that's the problem. Crime has gone up in Aus since the ban, but thanks to idiots who write things like that, no one wants to listen anymore. They think they are supporting gun rights, but all they're really doing is making it harder for anyone else to do so (and making themselves out to be idiots and/or liars). The plain truth is that crime has not gone down, and certain types of crime jumped up dramatically, both in England and Aus. The crimes that jumped drastically were victim-confrontation crimes- mugging, home invasion, assaults, etc. Keep in mind that many parts of Aus have a police response time of over twenty or thirty minutes. England put out a memo a few years ago saying that they're not going to bother investigating "small" crimes like theft and petty assault unless there is an obvious lead. Sometimes I wonder if law makers aren't trying to encourage crooks. For here in the US, well, I'm not likely to take too much criminal policy advice from a country where they had to coin an entirely new term for crimes. (home invasion, first used in NSW in the early 1990s) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  2. It's the "sporting purpose" designation that trips up the process over and over again... What a bunch of baloney. "Well, yes Mr. jack-booted AFT agent, I intend to use this GAU-8 seven barreled 30 mm 1800 rounds/minute firearm solely for sporting purposes." edit to fix clicky witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  3. National Archives & Records Administration Cornell Law I've seen versions missing the third comma, between arms and shall, but I have never heard of or seen a copy with no punctuation. Go to this site to see a hi-res jpeg of the original. http://www.archives.gov/national_archives_experience/charters/charters_downloads.html direct link to picture (I think) very large witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  4. My personal favorite is the "ball in a bucket" glock sights. I like the much smaller dot front sight more than the big circle from ashley/express. I've also gone the rounds with hi-viz three circles night sights. I don't like the "pumpkin" just because it draws my attention away from the target. I don't discourage anyone from buying them; I just don't like them myself. I like seeing the taget with a fuzzy front sight better than seeing the front sight with a fuzzy target. ps - I understand the value of front sight visibility. My taurus basically doesn't even have rear sights. It's got a gutter and very noticable (without being distracting to me) front post. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  5. Interesting point, but I'd lay odds that any P.O.S. like him has already thoroughly poisoned all parts of his body. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  8. "blood running in the streets," "return to the wild west," blah blah blah Any more predictions that we've all heard and all seen disproven over and over again? Maybe next you'll tell us it's for the children? Well, I guess the difference is that the legislature has faith in people and you don't. Personally, I prefer a government that trusts me. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  9. Generally, yes, but again check your local laws everyone. Some states require that duty to retreat the Florid recently repealed. Hell, some states even have a "duty to retreat" in your own home. In those places, if you can't show that you had no other options, that you actively tried every possible escape, you'll be going to jail and trial. Fairly ridiculous, but then many laws are. You'll get no argument from me there, though yet again some bleeding heart might disagree. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  10. Maybe I'm missing something, and heaven forbid I should give ideas to the gun banners, but to me that says only shotguns approved by the paper-pusher can have a bore over half an inch. Did I miss something allowing rifles? If so, I know someone with a collectible rifle in .505 Gibbs who'd love to stop paying those damned BATFE fees every year. edit to add: So does having a bore greater than half inch make a firearm Class III, or does it make it illegal straight away? I'm curious after reading about the .700 NitroExpress. (no typo, that says .700) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  11. I don't know why I'm going to justifiy myself to someone who's only response to reason seems to be calling the US a fascist regime, but I will anyway. We all know kallend is in control of his mental faculties. He was very disingenuous, and I called him on it. He has a habit of being answered direct questions, dropping off the thread for a while, then popping back up to ask questions that have already been answered. He was imitating something he is obviously not. I pointed out a transparent debte choice, no different from pointing out strawmen arguments or poor logic, or other less seemly tactics. Do you really want me to go back over some of your posts and point out the need for moderation? I'd wager I can find things that would get you banned for a good long while, at least. On the other hand, I've spent more than enough time on you, so I'll be on my merry way. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  12. ad hominem, ad hominem, ad hominem. Once again, you haven't bothered to answer simple questions (not that I actually expect you to anymore). witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  13. How many names has that company had? I've heard good things about them, though I'm not particularly fond of the "pumpkin on a post" sight arrangement. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  14. Best-case scenario she would never have to go to court. Worst-case it goes all the way to trial because the prosecutor has a grudge, and she has to wait for a "not guilty" verdict and pay massive legal fees. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  15. I'd love to watch him try and walk down the hall like that. It's one thing when you're standing still, it's something completely different when you have the shirt moving and the pants pulling for strides. But yeah, that's a lot of hardware. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  17. Honestly I would probably support some sort of short term compulsary service (military or otherwise) post high school. However, the constitution says states have the responsibility/ authority/ burden of maintaining officers, but who runs the training is less clearly defined. Right now, if we want to change training standards, we have to write both the federal legislators and our state reps. Of course, neither really gives a damn about the militia or wants to admit what the second should cover, so that's one more letter for their "round file." Doesn't mean it shouldn't be written, though. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  18. Am I the only one who thinks there should be a law that says you can't sue for injuries incurred while committing a felony? e.g. -You break in and fall down the stairs, you don't get to sue the homeowner for faulty steps. -You try breaking in through a skylight and fall onto th kitchen knives, you don't get to sue. -You attack someone with a club and they shoot your ass, you don't get to sue. (all this assumes the homeowner did not use excessive force or break any other criminal laws) Who wouldn't back that kind of law? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  19. You're a poor act for imitaitng a senile old wretch, professor - or have you actually forgotten that this has been explained to you several times? A mortar is not issued to most of the infantry, is it? Is it a single man weapson system? No. It is a crew served weapon http://www.army.mil/fact_files_site/m252/ http://www.army.mil/fact_files_site/m224/ It is a weapon to support infantry. It is not an infantry weapon. It is not covered for the same reason Stingers and RPGs and larger weapons systems aren't covered. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  20. The best shooters in the world still compete at 1,000 yards. They have ideal conditions, and they still have trouble. One mile is 1760 yards, so the best in the world have trouble with two thirds of a mile. Side note: longest recorded kill was by Carlos Hathcock, but he was not using a rifle. He used a single shot from a tripod mounted machine gun that weighs more than a man can carry. edit: you're right on with your "edit" statements. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  22. Logic? Vee don't need no steenkeeng LOGIC!! [/impression] Come on man, they're legislators. Since when does logic come into play? Besides, a .30 cal rifle could take out that plane engine just as nicely as that .50 cal. The difference is that Feinstein seems to think that a .50 cal gives the user magical powers. http://cbs5.com/localwire/localfsnews/bcn/2005/05/01/n/HeadlineNews/SNIPER-RIFLE/resources_bcn_html witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  23. That is correct. The woman campaigning against concealed carry, who hails from a town trying to ban handguns, hasa concealed carry permit for herself. What, have you forgotten that laws are only for us little people, and our great masters are not to be trifled with? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  24. If you actually read my original post, you'll see that I drew the line where the founding fathers (you know, they guy who wrote the bill of rights?) drew the line. It covered infantry weapons. Today that would mean at least M16s and M4s. I also made it clear that it might, though not positively, cover SAWs and other squad level machine guns. I never said it covers an M2, I and I stated that it does not cover crew served weapons. You do realize that the M777 is a cannon carried by a helicopter or towed by a truck, right? Does that sound like "infatry" to you? Do you understand the meaning of "militia?" In case you're not clear, I drew the line on this side of RPGs, so that they were NOT included anymore than a Howitzer or a Stinger. (you could've called them stingers and howitzers; it's not like those numbers are rare, or that anyone who didn't know couldn't google them) That'd be nice. I'm getting tired of having to repeat myslf because simple quesitons aren't answered. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  25. Yup. A gun for .499 caliber and .501 caliber are ok, but that .50 is just evil. It's kinda like that eleventh round they're always bitching about. Somehow the first ten are ok, but that eleventh one is just pure evil and only meant to hurt people. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
