(quoted, not mine) Sen. Joe Biden is the embodiment of snide. Snide is the embodiment of the left-wing attitude toward gun owners. So when snide Joe Biden confronted a YouTube user who asked Democrat presidential candidates about gun control during a debate Monday night, what unfolded was a Teachable YouTube Moment — the caught-on-tape embodiment of ideological snideness toward the Second Amendment and those who defend it. "Good evening, America. My name is Jered Townsend from Clio, Mich.," a YouTube citizen questioner began. "To all the candidates, tell me your position on gun control, as myself and other Americans really want to know if our babies are safe." Mr. Townsend pulled out his Bushmaster AR-15. "This is my 'baby,' purchased under the 1994 gun ban. Please tell me your views. Thank you." New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson was asked to respond first. CNN host Anderson Cooper noted that Mr. Richardson has "one of the highest NRA ratings." Mr. Richardson ran so fast from his record, you could see the Road Runner puff of cartoon smoke billowing at the base of his podium. "The issue here, I believe, is instant background checks," he sputtered. "Nobody who has a criminal background or is mentally ill should be able to get a weapon." Mr. Richardson babbled for a few more painful seconds about "attacking poverty, bringing people together, dealing with those kids in the ghettos that are heavy users of gun violence," while the liberals in the audience sat stone-cold silent. Not a peep from Mr. Richardson about the fundamental right to self-defense, of course. Mr. Cooper rescued Mr. Richardson by turning to The Smirk from Delaware. "Sen. Biden, are you going to be able to keep his 'baby' safe?" Snide Joe grabbed his opening: "I'll tell you what, if that is his baby, he needs help." Mr. Biden threw red meat to the blue audience. He was richly rewarded with loud applause. Mr. Biden showed off his lawyerly credentials and continued to wallop the YouTube gun owner: "I think he just made an admission against self-interest. I don't know that he is mentally qualified to own that gun." Why? Because he showed affection for his possession? Because he's an enthusiastic hobbyist? Because he talked about his gun the way Paris Hilton talks about her Chihuahua or Brad Pitt talks about his Ducati or Al Gore talks about his Priuses and compact fluorescent light bulbs? The audience roared with laughter at that mockery of the gun owner's mental health. So much for politically correct sensitivity toward the mentally ill, eh? "I'm being serious," Mr. Biden chuckled. "Look, we should be working with law enforcement, right now, to make sure that we protect people against people who don't — are not capable of knowing what to do with a gun because they're either mentally imbalanced and/or because they have a criminal record, and...." Mr. Cooper interrupted Mr. Biden's rant, but he stuck in one more jibe at Jered Townsend, the YouTube gun owner. "I hope he doesn't come looking for me." More laughter. Did any of the other candidates pipe up to defend the gun owner? Not one. Mr. Biden's snark and smarm spoke for them. The Democrats remain the party of gun-grabbers. Its leading presidential candidates view gun owners as crackpots and nutballs, and treat the Second Amendment as a nuisance to be circumvented and cured. Big Nanny, not bedrock constitutional principle, rules. The Democrats are shooting themselves in the foot by taking arrogant potshots at gun owners in a nationally televised debate. A recent Gallup Poll showed roughly 1 in 3 Americans in the Midwest and South own a gun; 27 percent of independents and 23 percent of Democrats identify themselves as gun owners. A majority use their weapons for crime prevention. Who in the Democratic Party speaks for them? Are the majority of women gun owners who own a gun for self-defense "mentally imbalanced," too? The Dems can enjoy Mr. Biden's YouTube-able wisecracking now. But come general election time, Second Amendment defenders may get the last laugh. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

That response showed me that Mr Biden "needs help." It shows that Biden certainly is not "mentally qualified" to lead this country, and absolutely not from the executive branch. Afterall, he's "the guy who wrote the assault weapons ban." You remember that one, right folks? That's the one that banned cosmetic features on a firearm that have nothing to do with power, lethality, or sustainability in a fight. It's also the one that had no appreciable impact on crime including affected guns, or crimes not including affected guns. Yeah, that useless bit of legislative trash. His line at the end about "we should be protecting people" pretty much sums up everything wrong with him. It's not your job to protect people from themselves, and it's not your job to remove firearms from society, especially ones that are not used in any significant number of crimes. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

"One of Britain's biggest illegal gun dealers"
Kennedy replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
I'm going to take this line by line, because you stopped making sense a while back. Actually, you do. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armed_Response_Vehicle A rose by any other name... And why exactly would you suspect that when another officer recently went in with a clipboard and discovered that everything is fine? The point is SOME ONE ELSE JUST DID EXACTLY THAT. John is not "taking the piss" talking about a officer with a clipboard. There actually was an officer with a clipboard shortly before the raid. (A) Veiled comments about paranoia do nothing to further your case and only make you look silly. (B) A 12 inch knife really isn't good for all that much. They tend to be much longer or much shorter. I have a very nice folder with about unlimited uses, but the blade is less than 4 inches long, and it is less than 8 inches overall when open. (C) "High powered pistol." Wow. Statements like that just reek of ignorance. Reminds me of people who called 5.56 rifles 'high powered rifles.' witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -

News choppers collide following chase. Chase suspect to be charged?
Kennedy replied to grue's topic in Speakers Corner
If this is the case, then they were basically no different than law enforcement involved in the chase, and the case for felony murder can reasonably be made. Oh, please. He'll be passing you on the right in just a few months. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -
News choppers collide following chase. Chase suspect to be charged?
Kennedy replied to grue's topic in Speakers Corner
THe suspect, as far as I can tell, would not be charged with manslaughter for contributing to the deaths of the pilots and videographers. Instead, he would actually face felony murder charges. The policy/philosophy in question is the "felony murder rule." Basically, in most places it states that if someone dies due to your involvement in a felony, you can be charged with murder. It's been applied ot getaway drivers, bank robbers who didn't pull the trigger, I even recall one case somewhere wherean accomplice was charged with murder because a "victim" shot and killed one of the perpetrators, and all the suspects were charged with their fellow's death. How that might apply to someone who is a bystander, and not the target or the suspect, and who was there by their own choice, who died by actions unrelated to the crime, I couldn't guess. edit to add: Personally, I don't see why the driver should be charged, as the factors contributing to their death were unrelated to the crime in question. The felony murder rule, depending on where you are, requires at least some level of causality. It'll all depend on what the jurisdiction's laws are, and the details that the article doesn't provide. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -
I'd rather spend the next two hours cleaning certain pieces of metal and polymer that I used earlier today, storing them safety, meeting my friends for dinner and a cold one (plus one, plus one, plus one, etc) and then go watch the simpsons or anyting else that looks good. ps - 300 is coming out on dvd this Tueday. That's two hours worth spending. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Question for the gun guys/gals. (Non-political question)
Kennedy replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
You are quite right there, as odds are that the shot will still be in the cup when it hits the first wall, which guarantees penetration, even through a stud. When a hypothetical person chooses a shotgun for home defense, I hypothetically recommend #4 birdshot. I hypothetically recommend against .223, because hypoothetically there's no stopping one of those until it exits one hypothetical apartment building and is halfway through the next one. It's too bad that PolyShok is not available for general sale, as it is the best of both worlds. (it hits like a slug, will not penetrate much of anything, and has recoil of a light birdshot load) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -
Do we need an introductory class on idioms, professor? What is it with you and avoiding simple questions to focus on irrelevant quirks in the post? Wow, ground breaking, the potus will turn powers over ot the vp while he receives medical treatment. It's unprecedented. It's unnatural. It's unconstitutional. It's what the NAZIS would do!!! I'm going to try to keep you focus here. Forget the political technicalities. Forget the speakers aparent ignorance. Do you still believe there is "no emotional frothing at the mouth lobby trying to do that" right now? The single most effective traffic safety device is a law enforcement patrol vehicle in the rear view mirror. Everything else depends on voluntary compliance. Why do you want to raise speed limits? If peole are already speeding, do you think raising speed limits would stop speeding? What would you do with DWI laws? Would you make that so that if you haven't been in an accident, you can drive impaired, as well? ps - without addressing each and every point, fatalities would have a huge jump after you implemented your ideas. But hey, sometimes kings don't want as many subjects... witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

New OSHA Rule May Regulate Gun Industry Out Of Existence
Kennedy replied to Kennedy's topic in Speakers Corner
JPFO is not composed solely of Jews. They welcome any like minded person. They are also very pointed in making their points. "Never Again" is not just a t-shirt to them. Something about having your recent progenitors slaughtered by the millions can do that to you, I suppose. Also, they tend to point out the idiocy of the opposition as well as work towards the goal (whereas the NRA tends to focus only on the goals, and not even all of them) GOA has a similar outlook to JPFO, but hey, they offer a sweet benefit to signing up for lifetime membership. I'm not suggesting you drop your NRA membership, just that you consider another membership or two. edit: spelling witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -

Wasn't there talk awhile back about making knives with points tips illegal in the UK? Comparing one democratically elected leader to another has got exactly what to do with delusions of fraud? Does anyone else remember the old "rule" about comparing someone to Hitler means you concede the debate? penniless, do you really think your daydreams about an election have anything to do with the issue of a congressman making a comparison between Bush and Hitler? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Feel free to answer the question, professor. Why do things need to change? Why should the Taihrt amendment not be renewed? What is better about not having it in place? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

You suspect incorrectly. But tell me, professor, what is so wrong with the current situation that the amendment needs to go away and things nee dto change? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

That's the funny thing. Cops have no trouble whatsoever getting the information they need. It's not like the ATF stonewalls them and says "No, we're not telling who owned that one." Groups that represent officers (as opposed to gropus for chiefs) support the Tiahrt amendment completely. The only people that have a problem with it are the people with an agenda (banning guns or getting elected). I find it so amusing that the best argument they can come up with is that local police don't have access to gun trace records. It's completely ridiuclous. They have access anytime- Through the BATFE. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
