  4. If you believe this, then you've gotten some seriously bad advice about canopy flight. Needing increased speed to properly land under a normal ZP canopy is a fallacy, it's bullshit. A VX loaded at 3:1 can be landed straight in to a standup landing. You need a better canopy coach. Something less aggressive in a 150 would be a much better option. 5. Skys REPRESENT! Seriously though, I can see a correlation between wild monkey-like behavior and skydivers. However, unlike chimps taken skydiving, we usually manage to stay alive on each jump. Bonus points to anyone if they can name why real monkeys that have been put in solo skydiving rigs die. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  6. How about I go and get paid to jump and still send some money?
  7. And no preparation at all to go along with that h. (sorry, that was bad, even for me) Of course, I'm sure a certain person who "jumps sans chute" will be along shortly to tell us why God punished them. Seriously though, there's more than enough that went wrong for people to play "woulda, shoulda, coulda" for years. I still haven't been able to even fathom how long the cleanup from this is going to take, or if it's even going to be possible. I'm just glad my new in-laws made it out of New Orleans in time and are safe in Houston. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

    Sabre 2

No offense, but that's hardly enough experience to say for sure. The Stiletto is a known soft-opening canopy. I put 250 jumps on mine before it opened hard enough to wrench my hip & knee bad enough to make me limp for 9 weeks afterwards, blow out a complete cell top & bottom, snap 2 lines, and burn holes in the slider. I had more jumps on that canopy than you have jumps total before that happened, and it was caused by a manufacturing defect. This was confirmed after it was sent in for repair. Granted, a hard opening can happen on any canopy. But the Sabre2's hard openings, when they happen, seem to be extra brutal. The fact that there's been serious injuries and fatalities under them will definitely preclude me or my wife from ever jumping one. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  9. Heh...you jump at the DZ where I spent my first 3 years and got my Instructor rating. As for me, if it's a Cessna, I like to go off the step backwards and do a couple of back layouts if I'm just doing a hop & pop or exiting after putting out IAD students.

    Corn on the cob

Lawrocket for president! Let's not forget hotwings, ribs, pizza, and good middle eastern or Ethiopian food. Sometimes, you just have to use fingers. As for the corn, I hate canned. Grilled on the cob is best! Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

  13. It has to do with how the 3-ring system works. It relies on a bit of inherent friction to work efficiently. Bill Booth on 3-ring Friction Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Slackass... I'll update your DD list entry then. I have a Moto V330 that's locked to T-Mobile that I was looking for a good home for, since I just switched to Sprint. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Eesh! No kidding, Jack, my Hawiian shirt brother! Hopefully someone puts it up on SkydivingMovies.com as I'd really like to check it out.

  22. Excellent plan. Choosing fashion over safety is always a bad decision. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  23. Try again. I have nickle on my Mirage and a very hard opening was all it took to have the nickle plating starting to chip off on one of my risers. Thankfully, it's not chipping on any of the hardware on the rig itself, but I'll be getting stainless next time. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  24. I don't know if it's been topped since, but the first official 100-way was in Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1986. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  25. Because it protects the pin better. On the Mirage, it doesn't have to open for deployment. There have been a few occasions where I've landed and my main flap was still closed. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
