Heh. I have a Mirage G3 UNISYN in an M4 size. For a reserve, it is supposed to hold a PD-160R or DM-181. I have a Tempo 210 in my reserve tray along with a Cypres. That Tempo packs significantly bigger than a PD-160R (It's closer in size to a PD-176R) and it fits in there just fine and all my flaps are flat. I wouldn't try to go more than one size higher but the tradeoff I have for having a bigger reserve is that two riggers were unable to pack it (The one I use now can pack it very easy so it seems to be more of a finesse issue) and the reserve area is very stiff so I lose a little flexibility in the container. You raise a very good point, Lisa. After my last malfunction, which was a high-speed spinner, I could easily see how easy it could be to pass out from the force of the spin if I didn't either correct it or get rid of it. Which also made me wonder about people who think that they should wait to get stable before opening their reserve if they have that type of mal. If they tried fighting the spinner for a while before chopping, they may not know which way is up or down until their inner ear stabilizes, which could take too much precious time. Just doing more than three intentional fast spins on my Stiletto is enough to make me woozy for a couple of seconds. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Wrong, the Stiletto has a tapered leading edge. Here is a pic of mine when I had it hung up to install it. As for the person who asked about the openings, spinners are possible on any canopy but are really easy to have on even a moderately loaded elliptical. My experience with my Stiletto has been fabulous. I use a pretty trashy Psycho pack on it and I rarely get more than a few degrees off-heading, but the openings are butter-soft. I just make sure that I am level to the horizon when I deploy. The few times I have had line-twists, it just sat there flat & level and waited patiently for me to catch up. I'm not taking any chances. I'm packing my Stiletto in my own CRW style. I just barely cloverleaf the slider with no pocket in it, all nose cells presented, and I don't roll the tail. Brisk (but smooth) 300-footer every time, even from terminal. If she does start to go over that I just give her a nudge with the rear risers but I doubt I'll touch them unless I have a good horizon reference. You'll probably get better results posting this in the RW forum. You might also do a search as I think it has been discussed before, but my understanding of it is this: Boxman: More stable, not as quick on point moves as the mantis due to inherent stability. Mantis: Nowhere near as stable as the boxman but much faster point movement possible due to that instability. With the boxman, you're flying with your arms in the same position that you learned as a freefall student. With the mantis, you have your hands in under your breast bone with your elbows out. If you get the chance to watch some serious RW video (Airspeed, Knights) you will see the Mantis in all its glory. It's actually pretty fascinating to watch. I learned that flying with a 9" wide, 12' long streamer in a sit-fly creates a lot of drag, enough so that I know that with trying to keep stability on a simple streamer dive I have no business thinking about getting a freefly tube yet. Dammit, I hate being my own voice of reason. Oh well, looks like I'll have to make a bunch more jumps perfecting that stability before moving on. Darn. Sorry to hear about the GF, Pablo. But knowing you, you'll have no probs finding another nice girl. Or a not so nice girl depending on your mood. Keep your head up. As for me: 1:3:0 The 1 is for "The CRW load that God forgot". Let's just say that I was first out, I was under a fully inflated canopy three seconds after I left the step and I got to spend most of the dive in the freezing cold chasing those who weren't quite as fast on the pitch. It was still fun, almost had a dock on one of them but we hit breakoff. The other two were sweet sit-flys and one was with hand-held streamers on all of us. It would have been even better if we had remembered video. Next weekend...NIGHT JUMPS! WooHoo! Can't wait. Umm, dude... You may just want to listen to what the man has to say. Keep in mind the fact that Paul knows a hell of a lot more about photography (in the air or on the ground) than you probably ever will. At your experience level, it really isn't wise to be giving camera advice. Especially since a lot of DZ's won't even let their jumpers touch a camera until they have over 200 jumps.
