    Ideal jumpship

Like they say about the Skyvan, "It would be a great airplane...if they would take it out of the box!" I love that plane. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  2. Except for that whole pesky thing about needing air to keep the canopy inflated... Other than that, I like the way you think, Tex. That would be a lot of O2 to carry as well, though. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  3. On my jumpsuit, I have the "Curious George, First Space Monkey" patch. Sorry, Curious George rocks! On my Mirage, I have Mighty Mouse & the Decepticons logo on my right mudflap. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  4. Yup, I'm here at Freaksis' place listening to ancient Ministry. The "Twelve Inch Singles" album rocked so hard we immediately bought it from Amazon.com so that I could have a copy. Well, time to finish this fine Corona and head off to bed so we can be rested for some Nig-Noggery at Spaceland tomorrow. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

    Skydiving High

Zennie, I couldn't have said it better myself! I will probably be at Spaceland this Sat & Sun. We'll have to do a jump! Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

    Answers for Men

Yeah. Right. Sure. I'd vote for hottie though. What is it with women and the negative body image? This is a pic of "chunkster" Lew, anyone else share that opinion? Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  7. That was the only one... Except for this one! Thanks for the Corona BTW. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  8. Perry's setup is definitely odd. He saw some people using it during the swoop competition at the Ranch and had it done to his VX-79. I got a quick look at it over a month ago at Skydive Dallas and a really good look last weekend at the AOT boogie. If you're jumping a tiny pocket-rocket, I can see the advantage of trying to get rid of as much drag as possible. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  9. I love my power-tool. It gives great leverage, it's easier on the closing loop, and it pulls out easier after you set the pin. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  10. This one is better, Zen. I would call this one a maniacal smile.
  11. My Stiletto has consistently proven to be quite stable. My openings are generally within 10-20 degrees of my intended heading. The couple of times that I have had line-twists on it, the canopy waited patiently for me to kick out of them. I had one it did try to spin but I was able to get the risers evened and it stopped. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  12. I finally got my film developed... In The Crew pic front row is: Andyman, AggieDave & Zennie. In the back row is some unknown and me flanked by Freaksister and Brittany. I never knew how tiny Brit was until I realized that's a kid's shirt she's wearing...and wearing well! Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

    Virus Alert

Yup, that one made it through my office. The aftermath after people found out it was a hoax was amusing. Everyone wanted that file back IMMEDIATELY! I had to tell several very frustrated people that unless they were Java developers, they didn't need it. Sigh...Move along. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

    Cars and dreams

Wendy, I have owned several turbocharged vehicles. Here's some advice... When you get the vehicle checked by a third-party mechanic (You should be doing this anyway) make sure they check the turbocharger for damage. A lot of idiots drive the hell out of turbos and then get home, park, and turn the engine off immediately. What happens is that the oil that is cooling the turbo is now not circulating and the intercooler (think radiator, but for oil) isn't getting any air since the car isn't moving. That hot oil can burn and leave gummy residue inside the turbo causing cumulative damage. Only use synthetic oil. Repeat that. Then do it. Change it every 3000 miles religiously. I used (and still use) Mobil-1 synthetic and Mobil-1 filters. Tell him to buy a "turbo-timer". This is a nifty device I used in my 300ZX, Daytona Pacifica, and Impulse. What it does is when you turn off the ignition, the engine will stay running for 2-5 minutes allowing the oil in the intercooler to cool off. It really helps prevent turbine damage. Turbocharged cars are great (and they make mad HP that you can easily tweak) but they require great maintenance. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  15. It's a bitch in traffic, too. I read an article about Jay Leno and his rocket bike. A car pulled up too close behind him while he was parked at a light and the heat from the exhaust melted part of the bumper. That's damn funny. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  16. Nice one, Carrie! Although I thought the rack was pretty incredible pre-piercing. Thanks for the flash at the WFFC. Oh, and thanks for giving Jamie the idea for my RB name. (GRRRR!) Tell all the Ohio freaks I said, "Hola!" Kris Sonic Meat Rodriguez Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  17. Send a PM to Clay. He jumps one. From the videos I saw at the WFFC, the picture quality was very nice. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

    more AOT pictures

Yup, that's what happened on my second reserve ride. My first jump on the Heatwave 190 I used to have. I didn't leave enough slack between the bag & risers. I felt the bag hit my rig on deployment. It was horribly spun up and rapidly spinning. I also now leave 18-24" of excess and just S-fold the rest into the bottom of the container. You can also see that the cat's eye where you set the brakes is not locked over the top of the toggles. The brakes are definitely not set. I'm glad Pablo wa able to get out of it. I had severe line-twists on my first jump at AOT, too. It must have been some mojo that was going around to a lot of people. I was able to equalize the risers and ended up hanging nicely under the canopy after just over one revolution. I caught it before it really got moving. I blew out a tube-stow on that opening. That may have been it or it may just have been a fluke. All my other jumps were fine. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  20. I have a lot of hop & pops logged with my Stiletto and a few on a Heatwave. I just made sure I had good body position, gave it 2-3 seconds and pitched. It snivels a bit more and you may have to fly the opening a while longer but I've never had a problem. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  21. Heh. No problem on the name, Zennie. I get it all the time. Ramon, you definitely have to rip that video of our coach dive. It was great, but funny as all hell. Some people call them near collisions, but at this stage in my freeflying skills, I call them DOCKS! Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  22. It was absolutely a great Boogie. And, Zennie, my name is actually "Kris". I got to make some really great jumps, I was able to join in on my nephews first tandem and I had two great freefly dives with multiple docks. Thanks to Ramon for the freefly coaching, Perry for the canopy coaching (sweet ass surf on my last jump!), and Pablo for the great video of my nephews tandem. It was great meeting / seeing again Zennie, AggieDave, Moody, Pablo, Freaksis, Perry, RGroper (Congrats on your first cutaway!), anyone else I missed, and Brittany. Yes, I said, Brittany. The Britster graced us with her presence on Saturday. Even though she was just there to hang out, it was good to see her again. And yes, I do have pictures in my camera of Moody in her PJ's. Bribes are now being taken. WHOOP! Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  23. Nope. In fact, I know a jumper who was routinely getting on 20+ way formations before their A-license. But that jumper had over 3000 jumps...
  24. The Skydive AZ Otters are fast. You will love it! Hope you get the one with the killer stereo! Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  25. Then I wonder if you can do a screen capture... Probably not. What's happening is that the video information is being sent directly to the frame-buffer of the video card. The OS is only handling the player software, the frame to put the video onto, screen location, and sizing. If you want to capture that frame and you can't do it with the video paused, you will have to use editing software to pull the frame grab. Most of them will have a "snapshot" function that will capture the current frame in the buffer and save it to a file. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
