Dave, your fall-rate with a suit is frightening. Frightening in the fact that we fall at about the same rate. heh. Kris "Greased safe's unite!" Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

I usually pack for myself unless I am doing a lot of student loads or am doing more than 5 or 6 jumps in a day. Even then, I only use packers for 1 or 2 of them. I can usually get my Stiletto bagged in 7-8 minutes from the time I set the brakes to the time I finish stuffing the PC into the pouch. That's Psycho-packing a Stiletto 190 into a d-bag designed to hold a 170 ZP canopy pretty tight. I think that there are some people who are entirely too dependant upon packers. One individual in particular packs maybe one out of every 100 jumps themselves, the other 99 they use packers. They have been doing this since right off of student status. That kind of inexperience, not to mention the unwillingness to get to know their canopy better, is really going to bite that person on the ass someday. As for teaching, I never charge my students. I am very thorough, and we don't quit until they bag something I would let my mom jump. I Psycho-pack, but I teach students how to PRO-pack. I prefer they learn to finesse their canopies with PRO first before learning how to sling the canopy 180 to the ground and adding the extra steps that Psycho-packing takes. Wow! Thanks for the valuable information from everyone! But, I have decided to keep my eyes on the prize and I'm going to hold out for NC. The guy we have there has been with the company for 32 years. He's either got to retire, go crazy, or check into a nursing home sometime soon. I'll have to send him some brochures on retiring in sunny Florida to see if he gets the hint. Thanks again! Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Don, Get Robin to finally make that tandem jump if she hasn't already and go give her a smooch in freefall. And give her another one from me. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Heh. I thought I left something at your DZ weekend before last. I didn't start feeling right until a few days ago. It's a 1-2 week thrill ride of congestion & soreness. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Easy one... My JM rating & BIC course. I really love working with students and seeing the look on their faces after their first jump, when something "clicks" for them, and when they graduate. Other than that, I would have to say any coaching jump I have paid for. I have been lucky in getting coaching from some really great people. Yeah, I still suck in the sky and will continue to for a while yet, but now I can do it with style. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

I got tired of trying to tame my Sabre 210. I would still get an occasional spanker even with a pocket slider, pencil rolling the tail very tight, and psycho-packing it. I finally fixed the problem entirely by replacing it with a Stiletto and my back has thanked me every jump since. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

That's a term of an "endearment" used for an area of really radical turbulence in their landing area at Raeford. When the winds are up, it's best to stay out of that area (The Dragon's Lair). Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Okay, here's the dealio... I have a very good (90-95%) shot of being transferred to Atlanta with my job within 4-8 weeks. It's not NC, which I wanted, but it's an easy drive to Raeford to visit friends or to Z-Hills, FL for the occasional winter visit. What are the DZ's, the city, & the living like? How cold does it get in the winter? Do the women have all of their teeth? I'd like to find a nice 2-bed house with central air & garage, or a gated apartment / condo within 30 or so minutes of the ATL airport. Here in OK, I was paying rent of $650 for a house with 3 bed, 2 bath, garage, and 1900 square feet. What am I looking at in comparison within 30-mins of ATL? Which suburbs / cities have the best value for the dollar and where do I need to stay away from after sunset? Which DZ's should I be checking into? Facilities, Aircraft, Disciplines, Vibes, etc... Thanks! Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

HEY! What are you trying to say about my mad canopy skillz? Actually, I did have the distinct pleasure of some turbulence that tried to smite me hard at ~20' yesterday. Dropped like a rock and almost kissed my Stiletto after I pulled that landing out. As it dropped all I could think was "KEEP FLYING IT!" Ended up with a nice dead-man to a standup. But yeah, I probably will do a few jumps with Perry. Some weekends I can pull off 45-degree carves with 70-80 footers all day long and then it's feet-knees-chest on a straight-in the next. I really need to work on my consistency, especially before Eloy. Ahhhhh.... Only a short time until the DZ.com reunion in sunny AZ. Another thing that you need to look into is a turbo-timer. This lovely gadget keeps the engine running for a few minutes after you remove the ignition key. If you're in too much of a hurry to let the engine idle to cool down the oil it will take care of it for you. It will save you big repair bucks in the long run. As for oil, use only synthetic and get religious with changing it every 3000 miles. I have had a few turbocharged vehicles and while the turbo is really worth it, you have to keep up with the maintenance. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Daveman! Big WHOOP to ya! Even if I did go to OU. Just don't tell anyone I told you "WHOOP!" And BTW, if you go drinking w/ me, Pablo & Amber next weekend, you are not allowed to have more than 40oz of beer at one sitting. Especially if you're sitting across from me. That's Greg Gerondale's #. He was my rigger and one of my JM's back in the day. The packing tool he makes is about the best made one I have seen yet. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

I have over 100 jumps on my Mirage G3 with the UNISYN harness. Those jumps were all on my Stiletto loaded just under 1.4:1. I have never had any problems with my openings. The few times I have had a couple of line twists was usually after a rushed pack job, or afterwards I found a couple of broken stows on my D-bag. I love my chest rings. Normally, the PC is leaving my hand at 3K and stowing my slider by 2300-2400K, but I have no problems doing a hop-n-pop from 2-2.5K from a fast-moving Cessna if the weather is crappy. At Rantoul, I routinely found myself in the saddle between 1700-1800 which is about the edge of my comfort level. The lowest, well...it was a hair into the triple digits. Let's just say that I could feel my Cypres arming on my back. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Dave, congrats on the great accomplishment! Even if it took five years! "Lots of people go to school for more than four years..." "Yeah...They're called DOCTORS!" I love that quote. Kris Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

Sorry, Amber... I'm going to need more than that to keep me from posting the two absolutely choice quotes you made on Saturday night. Both quotes are the end result of a round of shots, the shot in question these came from was a Cement Mixer. You slam 'em and it kind of gels in your mouth Amber's Quote #1 "It congealed in my mouth!" Which was quickly followed by... Amber's Quote #2 "It coated my throat!" Needless to say, innocent church-going folk such as Pablo and I were quite shocked and , ahem, suitably embarrassed. I think I'm in trouble now...
