  1. I've got about 120 jumps on mine. It's still holding up great. The fit when I got it was perfect. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  2. Same here in OK. As for injuries, I had a bad sprain right before Quincy '00. The week before. I went and jumped on it anyway since I was a 50-jump chump. Man, that thing didn't heal right for 5 months. I wish I'd broken it instead. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  3. Heh...good one. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

    HIPPIES

I'm more of a "punk is not rave is not goth is not ska is not oi is not straightedge is not hardcore" kind of guy. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  5. Throw Linux on that old PC! Hell, I have a 386 here with BSD running on it as my firewall and gateway. It works like a champ and is quite fast, too. God help me if I ever need spare parts for it though. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  6. Did you use a credit card to pay through PayPal? If so, contact your card company and cancel the charge. Also, the reason you only got that small amount back was probably because that's all the money the seller had in *his* paypal acct. This is why I use a credit card for purchases like that. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  7. You're sad, you've a right to be, hon. But the sky ain't going anywhere. Once you're all healed up you'll be ready for round 2.
  8. Anyone know how this is going to affect the CASA boogie at Granbury? I'm a bit worried now... But I'll still be there. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

    Got my bike!

Congrats! Get your safety gear yet? Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  10. Slackers....I can't believe nobody stated the obvious. In the summer, I wait until Saturday. On my way to the DZ, I stop by the local Hooters and let them wash it. They have car wash Saturdays here. The bikini girls always give a good wash. But, otherwise, I'm just about as bad as Paige and Boosted. I do it myself and take a couple of hours to do it right.
  11. Ask DZ.Com's own Stacy about that....she managed to funnel a GK 8-way a while back. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  12. I dunno....I always thought there was something "not quite right" with the Wonder Twins. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  13. x2 here......I wouldn't let one of my student's jump an audible before they get their "A". Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  14. yadda, yadda, yadda, blah, blah, blah! The difference is that Bo learned how to fly his canopy at SDC. A DZ that is known for their amazing canopy control program that starts at jump #1 with their students. The difference is that Bo was taught to respect the wing he flies, he was taught about advanced canopy flight theory, and he has been coached on it as well. The big difference is that, as a result, Bo is a lot more likely not to let his canopy get anywhere his mind hasn't been to at least 5 minutes before. If someone throws a flat turn at him he's more likely, with his training, to flat turn away from it rather than bury a toggle and show us all his femur. Hell, I can count on only one hand how many DZ's across the country go to that level with their students. I wish all of them did, but only a few do. Most students are lucky to learn to fly under Manta's, not graduate off of student status on Safires and Sabre2's at 1:1. I'm sure you haven't had any complaints from your students, but honestly, they don't know enough to know when they should complain. They look to you for guidance and experience. Agreeing with someone's choices just because they're a friend is doing them a potentially grave misservice. I used to be you a few years ago, and to this day I amaze myself that I'm still walking the planet at times. I got lucky, the next guy probably won't. I agree with Ron....Don't you think it's interesting that those of us with 300+ jumps and more than a few years in the sport have the same viewpoint? That should tell you something right there. 15. Awwww! Thanks Sunny, and thanks everyone else. I'm a year older, hopefully a smidge wiser, and definitely a good deal more mischevous. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  16. awwwww.....what a cute lil' bike! Seriously though, congrats on the new toy. Now, let me be the first of many to tell you to immediately get thyself to an MSF rider's course (http://www.msf-usa.org), and don't be a squid. Wear gear, dammit. In order of what you shoud have it's: Helmet (no, not one of those stupid replica helmets, get something DOT and SNELL approved), Jacket, Gloves, Boots. I just picked up a pair http://www.dragginjeans.com and you can't tell them apart from regular jeans, but they offer worlds of protection over normal jeans. Ride safe, have fun, and if you remember that every cage on the road is trying to kill you and you'll probably be okay. Kris 2002 GSX-R 600 Fi, Yosh exhaust, PC-III remap, TRE modded, Vortex rearsets, Messican ridden.
  17. I think Brains and Casie should be there just on general principal, dammit. Jessica won't be there since she'll be doing team jumps that Sat, but we should find a way to sneak her out for a drink with later anyway.
  18. How may times did we hear that line as kids, only to have our parents never follow through? I'm glad I'm not this guy's kid. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62054&item=8107675670&rd=1 Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  19. I demo'd one while my Stiletto was in the shop last fall getting repaired. I was toying around with getting one to put into a Birdman specific rig. The flight and flare were remarkably better than my old first-gen Sabre, but I hated the openings on the Sabre2 and I've read more than one report of squirrelly openings with them. I got 180 off-headings and non-symmetrical collapsed end-cells on more then one jump with it, but I did get a couple of nice openings once I started barely quartering the slider and loosely wrapping the tail. They were always soft though. In the end, I ended up using my regular rig with my Stiletto. The openings have always been on-heading and quite predictable (except for one hard opening that was due to a trim issue) and I've had no problems using it for BirdMan. Now, that is in no way an endorsement for you to go out and try a Stiletto. I'm just relating my experience with the Sabre2.
  20. Believe it or not this is the smartest reply on this tread buddy boy! I'm just wise enough to know that you won't listen to his advice on this subject and return you to your regularly scheduled poll. I'll third that sentiment. Getting married that young is just asking for trouble. But, as for the poll, I paid just under $4K for the ring for my late fiance. Marquis-cut solitaire in a platinum setting. Knowing what a witch her mother was, I made damn sure it was still on her finger when she was buried. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  21. The problem is that it potentially isn't just him he affects. The potential to injure others certainly exists. I, for one, would like to be no part of that equation, so if I see someone acting in a dangerous manner at my DZ you can be damn sure I'm going to say something about it. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  22. What? You don't log your creeper and dirt dive time, too? Seriously though, if it's simulated, it doesn't count towards real freefall. Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
  23. I had an Alti-3 that died after only a couple of months. Granted, it was one of the first ones with the plastic case... After that, I got an FT-50 and I had it for 3 years. I loaned it to students, it got knocked around in the plane, dropped more times than I can count....and it's still going strong. I ended up giving it to a good friend. I've got a new Alti-2 Galaxy and it's a solid device that I think will last quite awhile. I know several people that are happy with theirs. I don't think you can lose with either one, but I've been very happy with the service from Alti-2. And you can't beat the free checkups at the major boogies they attend. Weekend Numbers

:4:0 Yes, we drank wayyyyy too much beer, but it turned out to be just enough. The drag queens in that Fort Smith bar were, ummm, interesting. It was good to see one of my favorite boozehags again and it was good to finally get to meet Galen so we could trade stories about ya.
