My computer is going haywire. edited to add: thank you so much for this post. I'm gonna have to holler back at you before we come out that way. After all of our beach trips over the years, my boy is PUMPED to be making a trip to the slopes. Heck, I haven't skied since I was 18....and that was a LONG time ago. I don't think there's going to be a cut & dry answer to this dilemma. The first-hand knowledge I have on the subject is as a child psychotherapist in my previous life. I've seen antidepressants work well for some children, and I've seen behavioral approaches work well too. I am a bit biased toward keeping children off psychotropic medications until it's clear that other approaches aren't going to work....or until it's clear that other approaches aren't feasible. -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. How about a stranger who says, "Oh I'm on the male birth control pill...no really, I am." But then hopefully a person would not have unprotected sex with a stranger anyway. But then there are those moments of excess that catch folks off guard sometimes. Exactly. Men trust women to take it, why shouldn't it be the same the other way around? because I am ultimately responsible for my body. I personally couldn't stand to give that responsibility to another person. I absolutely do. My child and my relationship with him are more important than anything in this world. Our extended family is almost as important. We are a unit. I'd be really interested in how it works. But I agree with "I'm the one who would get pregnant...." line of thinking. No way I'd trust another person to take a pill regularly when I'm the one who'd get pregnant. Right. But bigotry is different than a phobia. A phobia is an irrational fear, like a belief that "the gays are taking over!" or "the government is trying to kill me." Yes. And the answer to one question's likely to be different than the other. But we love to focus on our hatred.
